Awakening in Hadriel is perhaps not the most wonderful thing, but as you pry yourself off the hard ground of the colosseum, you may notice that the Door (or possibly one of the gods?) has seen fit to provide you with a little entertainment. Scattered across the ground are a number of handheld video games. Thesecheap pieces of shitlovingly crafted products can each provide you with whole minutes of entertainment, at least until you get frustrated and smash them to pieces. Have fun!
But not too much fun. If you get too involved in that game, you might miss the approach of some glowing little creatures - guardian fireflies, from the movie Atlantis. Should they land on anything flammable - and yes, that includes you and your hair - it'll burst into flames. Smash them, and they'll explode in a tiny ball of flame, too. There'll be a couple hundred of these things flying around Hadriel, so let's hope you left your stash of gunpowder at home. With the window closed.
Once you've stopped dropped and rolled, feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, find a new monster, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!► This log covers May 10th-16th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
a.
Hey, but she's a kid! Kids are good! Kids are innocents, and that means he can be her friend! Assuming he doesn't scare her away first. He cuts a rather intimidating figure.
So this massive musclebound hulk of a man wanders over, drops into a crouch, and tilts his head thoughtfully to the side.]
BIG BEEPERS!!
[Did I mention he doesn't understand the term "indoor voice"?]
no subject
Rather than being afraid, Sette rights herself up, faces him squarely, and screams back at him:]
WHAT's A BEEPER DO?!
no subject
HE LIKES THIS GIRL ALREADY.]
Lots of noises, bright lights! Screaming VOICES!
[He makes a gun shape with his hand, like he remembers the Hat Lady doing, and puts it to the side of his temple. Bang bang! Voices in the head!
...well, technically he's talking about communication devices accessing the network, but same difference, right?]
no subject
[Luckily, Sette doesn't know what a gun is, nor the gesture for it. Though she does know that hands are usually whereabouts pyramy comes from - maybe that's what he means by that. It's magic, which she already guessed, really.
But noise, lights and screaming sound like... well, it sounds like a lot of things. But explosions! That sorta stuff. They come close. They're useful.
She shouts at him again, only a little quieter this time, and shoves her device in his direction. It's currently switched off.] How's it work?!
no subject
But his ECHO-type device! He knows that one. He picks it up in his meaty hands and turns it over a few times, thoughtfully, until he finally locates the on button, and it sputters to life.]
Bright lights!! See?!
no subject
Though... Hm. Well, that's a little less dramatic than she was hoping for. Just like a lamp and music maker or something. With pictures.]
What's it for though?! Can it help anyone - or hurt anyone?
no subject
[He can't quite elucidate the intricacies of how technology works, partially because words with more than three syllables can be difficult at the best of times and partially because technology is kind of beyond him.
But he is able to pull out his own ECHO-type device and turn it on, and then manages to punch out a garbled string of words that pop up on Sette's device:
;lsafjlb;jLKSBABB ]
no subject
[She hasn't used one either, at all.
Which brings her to her next question:]
Can ya do pictures too, or - or somethin' without letters? [Yeah, she can't read. For all she can tell, that jumble of words and letters could be great literature.]
no subject
[A couple grunts and groans as he strains to remember how to do the little faces. Those are always a trial. Eventually he gives up on the emojis, and simply switches his device to video.
Bam! A delightfully fearsome Krieg-face, beamed right to you screen, Sette!]
We've got a lift-off!!
no subject
[She's from a world full of magic, but technology, even something as simple as this, still seems very new.
She tries doing the same Krieg did, pressing the same buttons and eventually pulling up video herself.]
So if I need someone, I need help... I can do that - and someone will be there?
no subject
[Meaning, "yes" in Krieg-speak. This girl's quick to pick up on things! That's good.]
There's even tiny faces!
[Krieg evidently has trouble pronouncing the term "emojis" still.]
no subject
no subject
[Meaning "yes."]
Call 'em all together with a ring-ting-ting!
no subject
She pauses for a moment, lowering the device and frowning.] D'ya... d'ya know where we are?
[Something else she's stuck on.]
no subject
[Yes Krieg, that's very helpful.]
VERY DEEP! BELOWGROUND!
[Slightly more helpful?]
