For once, the new arrivals to Hadriel will not be waking up on the cold hard ground of the colosseum. Oh, sure, you'll still awaken in the arena - but this time the Door has been kind enough to ensure that you wake up comfortably arranged in a very nice chair. Or maybe not so comfortably. Some of those look pretty awkward - hopefully you didn't wake up with a crick in your neck! And hey, feel free to try to drag some of these super cool chairs to your new homes. They're probably not cursed or anything.
As you make your way out of the arena, be careful getting to close to the walls - well, except that's the only way out, so good luck! Chilling up on there waiting to get the drop on you are Skulltulas. These funky-looking spiders have squishy underbellies, but their upper exoskeletons are hard and very difficult to break through. They really just want to nibble you a few times, and maybe suck out all of your blood. No big deal, right? Have fun!
Have you conquered your arachnophobia and managed to escape? Great! Feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, find a new monster, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!► This log covers June 10th-15th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!

So he walks over and crouches down next to Victor's head, assuming that the skulltula is too busy with its victim, and offers him a dagger.
"You should stop flailing and stab it in the belly instead, yes?" Since the man is in a perfect position for it already.
no subject
Okay, the spider seems to not care about easy prey as it just seems agitated by this less than compliant meal under it. Still, Victor's trying to play hero here. He draws his feet in as close as he can, pulling his knees up to his chest and plants the heels of his shoes on the things abdomen. With a loud grunt Victor tries to rock back and kick up, flipping the thing up, off of Victor and onto its back. Victor tries to kick up as well but stumbles a bit, while the thing hurries to roll over.
no subject
That kick was impressive, but the spider doesn't seem put off and indeed seems to be angry enough to try at its victim again, no matter what. It really is a weird spider.
And Muscovy is certain that he wouldn't be able to run up to it in time to stab her before it's back on its feet. So he offers the dagger to the man again, watching the spider so he can step away in time before it returns. "You should stab it in the belly, yes?"
no subject
He's not going to get under that thing again. Victor lunges and puts the knife right between the fangs of that spider and forces it in to the hilt. He twists it a bit and holds the spider back until he feels it begin to weaken. He presses the thing backwards a bit until it slumps.
Victor lets out a relieved breath and stands up, pulling the knife free. "I should keep this you know? But if there's spiders maybe you should go out there alone."
Victor turns it around, and hands it to the kid handle first. "Do you know what city we're in kid?"
no subject
"My lord father gave it to me. It is a very good thing to do because if you cannot defend yourself you will get hurt and people will take you even less serious, and you can't help others, yes? And you might make people get hurt or die because they try to help you."
As for where they are, since the middle part doesn't need to be addressed once he's received his dagger back -
"I haven't been outside yet, but big bro said that it is a city in a cave and that we can't go above ground."
no subject
Victor's logic is really flawed there. He's lecturing the kid on having a knife then insisting he keeps it. It doesn't matter though, he is already thinking of the next problem. "So you got kidnapped too, and this ain't New York City so I guess it's time to go harass the locals. What do you think?"
Victor checks his pockets and his hostler. He finds the gun is there, fully loaded and ready to use. Tucking it away again he checks his wallet and badge. "What sort of shitty kidnapper leaves you your gun and knife anyways?"
no subject
There's a lot of Victor happening after all, and half of it doesn't match the other half. At least there's the interesting bit of information in there that he is from that same strange city that Firo is from. The one where all the roofs are flat.
At least the last question seems like it is that actually requires an answer. "It means that they either want us to fight for them, or that we cannot hurt them with weapons anyway, or that they are very dumb." At least that is what he has gathered from earlier experiences.
no subject
Glancing back to the kid, he frowns. He's not going to be all that great at helping him right now. "Look, kid, you seem smart so go find the local authorities and get yourself to safety. I need to figure out which asshole did this to me. Got it?"
Not that he's dismissing the kid. The kid does seem like he's a bit more with it than Victor's comfortable with. But if this is something Huey did, no need to get other people involved in one of Huey's experiments.
no subject
Or there are no real local authorities. At least it should be like this judging by his own experience and by what he has heard from others.
...He's not going to stop Victor. But he might just so decide to follow him, because Victor really is very lively and that is always a nice trait to be around, and besides, if he keeps acting like this he will probably get into trouble with everything interesting here, so Muscovy will be able to observe what interesting things there are.
no subject
Victor's not a great babysitter but he doesn't object if the kid follows him out. He watches the dark, high spots for movement and does not plan to get surprised this time. He makes his way out into the open to see that this place is truly unique. "What in the hell?"
It's alien, too alien for him to even recognize the architecture. "No, what the hell is this place? This doesn't even look like a place. How the hell am I supposed to find my way in a place like this?"
Okay, so he's asking the air these questions because they're not directed at anyone in particular. Still, this is beyond weird.
no subject
If he knew what popcorn is and had some, he'd totally popcorn.gif at this. As it is, he just stands there and happily observes Victor be very lively.
He giggles a bit while doing so because Victor is funny. How would a different type of architecture make navigating harder if there are clearly streets and buildings, separate from each other?
no subject
"At least we're not in a forest or something. At least there's buildings so they have to have food, right?" The place doesn't seem exceptionally populated, which gives Victor a bad feeling about the whole situation. Not that giant spiders weren't a tip off that things were not good.
no subject
"There is always food in a forest, yes?"
Even if you can't hunt, you can gather berries and similar things, and even if you can't do that there will be less tasty things that are edible. It is actually easier to come by food in a forest, at least without people getting angry and if you know how to do it. ...Maybe this man doesn't know how to do it. He has to think of his big brother.
"...Are you from a very big city?"
no subject
"And yeah I'm from a city. Who wouldn't be? I mean you got everything there. And all the people. I'll never get the country folk who think fighting for survival when you don't have to is some sort of noble cause. It's stupid. Just build a city and live. Unless you're a farmer or something."
no subject
He cannot quite keep up with all that Victor is saying, but also figures that that isn't the point of listening to him anyway. He's saying a lot of silly things, so it is more something that fills the air with the man's presence.
"Not all food that people in cities eat comes from farms."
no subject
Not everyone competes with thugs and mafioso. But when you're part of what will one day be the FBI during prohibition era United States, sometimes you run into these things. At least his ranting has slowed down for a brief moment. "You have to fend for yourself a lot back home or something kid?"
no subject
He doesn't feel like that really changes between places - after all some thugs will come form quite a distance away to bully you.
"I took care of myself back home, because I had no parents and my sisters are pretty and a bit scary but they have their own problems and my little sis is not very strong yet. But then I found family in other places and they are strong and nice and make sure that I'm safe." To a degree including food and a place to stay, but that isn't where his emphasis is now. It is 'I have family who will come after you and kick your ass if you ever think of troubling me so even though I don't look like much of a threat I have a threatening back-up'.
He doesn't know if any of them are here, though. At least he has seen neither his big bro nor his mother or father, or even one of the more distant relatives yet, so going by his experiences, that means a high chance of all or most of them not being here.
But he definitely won't mention that to a stranger.
no subject
"Got any enemies I should keep an eye out for particular? Or just beat on some bullies?"
no subject
He'll find out soon enough if there are, he figures, but... well, their number isn't big anyway, and all things considered he'll hope that they don't remember him and won't have a reason to have an issue with him here. Because then they can maybe become friends eventually.
"If you find people who are looking for me and seem nice," because that is the best way to describe all members of his family, clearly, "you can tell them that Muscovy is looking for them, yes?
...What is your name?"
no subject
He watches the kid a moment before shaking his head. Na, it can't be. Huey's probably spying on him or something. That's got to be it.
no subject
So he figures that Victor is having actual breathing trouble here and, not being tall enough to give him a few hard pats between the shoulderblades, quickly loosens his quiver and steps around Victor to use it as an elongation of his arm to achieve exactly that. THe pats might be a bit harder and less well coordinated, but if it makes Victor stop choking, that's worth it, right?
no subject
Well, that's awkward. There's way too many unanswered questions here and not enough time to deal with them all in one day. Instead he's going to distract Muscovy, or so he hopes, with more questions. "Do you think you can find a safe place to go or do you need help getting set up?"
no subject
"I will find a place." He needs to see if Rey is here first, but if that fails, he'll find Firo again. Family should stay together and all.
no subject
"I'm sure we'll meet again."
no subject
Not only when he's in trouble. Probably a lot more often, because this guy is fun.
But for now he'll go off to find his family, and with a wave, he turns to walk away.
"Until we meet again!"
