On July 22nd, Hope puts the call out for a little help with this monster problem he's been having - for the second time. In exchange for some prizes, he'd like you to go into the caves and kill him a few monsters! He'll be keeping an eye out and rewarding you for each kill, so grab a friend and a sword and get to work. Just try not to get lost in the caves - they're pretty extensive, and no one seems to have a decent map. Also, you know. They're full of slavering hellbeasts.
If you're not a fighter, don't worry! Hope also wants to clean things up around the city a little. There'll be caches of cleaning supplies, tools, paint, and other various piece of beautifying equipment available to find in the shops, and he plans to reward people for the time and effort they put in there, too! His sense of artistry is not particularly advanced, so don't worry about impressing him. You'll probably get an A for effort regardless.
For those characters participating in the beautifying portion of the event, please comment here with a brief description of what your character will be doing - for example 'painting three buildings and cleaning up the roads around the clinic'. If your character will be killing some of the monsters, please comment here and let us know how many they've taken out - for example 'three cacodemons and one troll'. For reference, here is a list of the amount of each monster that can be found in the caves:

"Have you seen these?" he points at them, while making a hole big enough for the root ball. "How do you suppose they pollinate? Given there's no insects here. Not that I want there to be insects, but you know what I mean."

Amos leans back from his planting duties to peer at the plant obediently, then grins up at Gansey. "Damned if I know, sugar," he answers easily. "Animals are my thing, not plants. Though that looks kinda like a starfish. Tell me if it starts moving or somethin'."
He leans over to poke at the peculiar flower. "How ya been, Gansey?"
no subject
"I'm fairly sure it's flora, not fauna," he says, while moving to attend to the ground. "But I'll give you a heads up. I've been fine. I must apologize for the last time we saw each other, Amos. I wasn't myself that day."
no subject
"Hey, it's alien plants. I've seen weirder." Amos nods, and shuffles aside to give Gansey room to dig. He returns to the task and adds, after a moment of weighing: "Yanno, I find when people say 'I wasn't myself', what they really mean is they weren't holdin' to society's expectations of behavin'."
He sits back on his heels for a moment, then adds with a cheerful grin, "That, or they was demon-possessed."
Chuckling, he grabs a plant to drop it into the hole. "But no, y'ain't gotta apologize. It's cool."
no subject
Gansey lifts his eyebrows, his smile a little more strained than strictly necessary.
“No, I wasn’t demon- possessed. God-influenced, maybe.”
Definitely. Gansey is prone enough to bouts of depression and anxiety. He’s far less prone to confessing the contents of his heart to anyone who’ll listen, and he could do with that never happening again, quite honestly.
“I care about society’s expectations far less than my own. I really hope I didn’t make you uncomfortable.”
no subject
Amos gives Gansey a serene look, then leans over and pats him on the arm. "Trust me when I say you haveta confess a hell of a lot worse to make me uncomfortable, sugar. You're fine. An' I won't tell no-one." He leans back with a little comfortable grin to start pushing dirt back around the newly-earthed plant.
"An' if you're ever not gods-influenced an' need someone to rant to, you can borrow my ears again. Anything for a friend."
Because Gansey is now very firmly in the "friend" category. Good luck ever getting rid of him now, Gansey.

Gansey manages to look less awkward than he feels. He has no intention of putting anyone in that position, even someone who offers. But it’s a nice sentiment, anyway, and he knows Amos is just trying to be kind.
“Thank you, I appreciate that,” he says. “The offer goes both ways. I’d just prefer we were able to feel these things on our own terms, and not because a hungry deity decided we should.”
no subject
"Yeah, ain't fun to be under outside influence," Amos agrees. "I don't like enchantments neither, but it's a damn sight better'n being demon-possessed. Had that happen to me once. Definitely do not recommend it, Lor'ha'mercy."
He leans back on his heels and examines their efforts, absently dusting his hands together to shake off loose earth crumbles. He nods. It's not too bad, considering the bizarrely alien plant life they're working with. He's not sure he'd call it pretty, but a lot of that is his unfamiliarity with the flora. Hopefully the gods will find it much more pleasing.

Demon possession, he’d said.
“I’ve seen the effects,” he says, thinking of what had happened to Noah. And to Adam. “And I’m not saying I disagree. What the gods do, though, it’s a lesser version of the same thing. I don’t mean when they give us mirrors that show us something nice, or send monsters meant to scare us. I mean when they prompt those feelings in us, like when they make us tempted to kill each other. It’s not exactly possession, but it’s not completely unlike it, either.”
no subject
Amos, personally, has always felt a compulsion is not the same as being possessed, but far be it from him to disagree with Gansey. To each his own opinion, after all. "Huh. I guess your world is pretty close to mine after all. Don't seem to be a whole lot different, at least in how supernatural stuff pops up."
He shifts a little father back and settles on his rump, setting his hands behind him and arching his back to stretch it out. His spine bows into a sharp arch, Amos being a little more flexible than the general population, before he relaxes again and kicks a leg out to stretch his calf.
