On July 22nd, Hope puts the call out for a little help with this monster problem he's been having - for the second time. In exchange for some prizes, he'd like you to go into the caves and kill him a few monsters! He'll be keeping an eye out and rewarding you for each kill, so grab a friend and a sword and get to work. Just try not to get lost in the caves - they're pretty extensive, and no one seems to have a decent map. Also, you know. They're full of slavering hellbeasts.
If you're not a fighter, don't worry! Hope also wants to clean things up around the city a little. There'll be caches of cleaning supplies, tools, paint, and other various piece of beautifying equipment available to find in the shops, and he plans to reward people for the time and effort they put in there, too! His sense of artistry is not particularly advanced, so don't worry about impressing him. You'll probably get an A for effort regardless.
For those characters participating in the beautifying portion of the event, please comment here with a brief description of what your character will be doing - for example 'painting three buildings and cleaning up the roads around the clinic'. If your character will be killing some of the monsters, please comment here and let us know how many they've taken out - for example 'three cacodemons and one troll'. For reference, here is a list of the amount of each monster that can be found in the caves:

B: Night-time Painting
b.
She roams tonight, intrigued by the systematic whir of thoughts and good intentions. Another night owl is out here, working on things that would benefit this place and the people who've found themselves in it, and she smiles. Despite the horrors she'd witnessed, there still is good in this place -- so much of it, that she cannot help but feel protective over it, too.
She sees him then, painting a map on the wall in the heart of the city, and she watches quietly for a moment before speaking up. ]
Thank you.

Oh, you're welcome. I hope it helps. I wanted this sort of thing at first.
[ There had been no maps when he arrived. That's why he'd set to work on one. ]
Granted, they do keep changing things. If I can keep some of the paint around, I can keep adding to it. Gansey, by the way.
[ He turns to her, and seems to consider offering a handshake before he realizes his hand is also paint-splodged. ]
You're new.
[ Not a question. ]
b
As far as he can tell, it seems fairly accurate, too - the most important part of all of it, alongside of its existence. It's a good idea and he nods a few times to himself before he feels the impetus to interrupt and make his presence known. ]
Got yourself a good idea.

I live in hope. It's not exactly Google Maps, but I thought it might help.
Didn't bother with the caves.
[ At this, he glances briefly towards them. ]
I haven't seen enough of them, and I've heard that they changed shape once before, at any rate. Still, I'd hazard a guess you've seen more of them. If you feel like adding to it...
A
He approaches Gansey when Gansey is reaching a good pause point, holding out a little bagged sandwich and some water.]
Don't work so hard you pass out, I definitely can't carry you.

You're my savior in any case. I should've brought a flask or something with me.
[ He takes a long drink, and then steps away from the brush to sit down by the edge of the road. ]
It's heavier work than it looks. Clearing the whole city is going to take forever.

A little bit at a time is the point, I guess. Anyway, what are friends for, right? I sure can't lift a lot of this, lunch delivery is much easier.

[ Gansey refuses to see this as a task that can’t be done. With enough time and application, they can do it – one street at a time, like Noah says. ]
I’d like to make it more habitable again. Not just for us, but…for the ones from before. This was their home once, and if they’re ever going to come back to it, I’d like to have left it in a better state than we found it.
Anyway. Thanks for lunch. [ He takes the sandwich, too, glad of a break despite all that he’s saying. ] Have you seen the others?

[ Gansey’s expression has turned speculative, but he does smile at Noah. ]
I hope so. If we can be brought back to life here, I’d like to think they could, too. This was their home, and we’re trespassing in it. I want to believe there’s hope for them. It’s terribly sad to think there’s nothing of them left but this ruin.

I like him. I think he does his best for us, and we don’t always make it easy. I think if we could help him bring back his friends, and his people, then he would help us in return. I don’t know, Noah. I have to believe there’s a way out of this that doesn’t end in violence.
[ Gansey doesn’t want to fight the gods. He knows that others do. He refuses to believe that’s the only way, that there’s no other alternative. He takes another drink, and shrugs his shoulders. ]
I think they were human-like. We’ve seen what they used, after all. Their furniture, their appliances, their clothes. I wish we could see a picture of them.
Whatever happened here, they didn’t deserve to lose everything. If I can help to bring them back, I will.
no subject
I think if anyone could make that happen it'd be you. Let me know if you find anything out, okay? I'd like to help too.
no subject
I wil. Though I don't exactly have a plan for the moment. I just have...hope, I suppose.
[ That seems like a loaded thing to say in a place like this. ]
We've seen and done a lot of impossible things. I'm fairly sure that I am an impossible thing after what Cabeswater did. Maybe we can help this place, now.
no subject
You’ve always been an impossible thing, that’s not really new.
no subject
I didn't know what I was. And besides, you're one to talk.
no subject
I didn't mean that. I mean like... [Noah sighs, purses his lips seriously, then lets out a breathless sort of giggle.] the quiddity of you. Is that of an impossible thing. Always has been.
no subject
On reflection, I'm not sure if that's a compliment or not. Are you calling me eccentric, Noah? I won't argue.
I'm just lucky to have found others who are just as strange as me.

I won't. I wouldn't exchange any one of you impossible things. You know I wouldn't.
