Event Log: Extinction V.2

Who: Everyone participating in the event!
What: The event log for the Extinction event!
Where: All around the city
When: July 22nd-July 29th
Warnings: Fighting, the cruel slaughter of innocent monsters who definitely don't want to eat you, wholesale destruction, and maybe some painting

On July 22nd, Hope puts the call out for a little help with this monster problem he's been having - for the second time. In exchange for some prizes, he'd like you to go into the caves and kill him a few monsters! He'll be keeping an eye out and rewarding you for each kill, so grab a friend and a sword and get to work. Just try not to get lost in the caves - they're pretty extensive, and no one seems to have a decent map. Also, you know. They're full of slavering hellbeasts.

If you're not a fighter, don't worry! Hope also wants to clean things up around the city a little. There'll be caches of cleaning supplies, tools, paint, and other various piece of beautifying equipment available to find in the shops, and he plans to reward people for the time and effort they put in there, too! His sense of artistry is not particularly advanced, so don't worry about impressing him. You'll probably get an A for effort regardless.

For those characters participating in the beautifying portion of the event, please comment here with a brief description of what your character will be doing - for example 'painting three buildings and cleaning up the roads around the clinic'. If your character will be killing some of the monsters, please comment here and let us know how many they've taken out - for example 'three cacodemons and one troll'. For reference, here is a list of the amount of each monster that can be found in the caves:

The smile that appears on Firo's face upon seeing Shadow is quick to fade when the hedgehog actually speaks.

He jumps and stares at Shadow, almost panicked at being put on the spot. "What?! Why me?"

"...We could paint something together!"

He likes that idea. While he isn't sure what it is that they could paint, doing it together certainly sounds nice. And maybe it will convince both Shadow and Firo to cooperate more easily, if they can't get out of it by waiting for the other.

"Nothin'? I've been helping out!" Rude. He's doing the heavy lifting, isn't he?

Firo glares at Shadow's question. "I dunno. You're the one who wanted us to paint something." He turns and gives Muscovy a gentler look. "You got any ideas?"

Not something with flowers, not something with flowers...

[muscovy]

Muscovy nods. "He's been helping me carry the buckets." Which made his painting a lot faster. Sure, he could have carried them himself, but he's moving flower by flower, so Firo moving the buckets after him means that he doesn't have to worry about them at all. And due to their different heights Firo can carry two open buckets without having to worry much about his clothes, while Muscovy can only carry one and would have to worry about his clothes.

And also: Doing things together is always nice, even if Firo refuses to paint anything himself. And he has painted that lion, down the street. He won't point that out to Shadow though, if Firo doesn't.

"What would you have painted alone?"

He looks at Shadow at this - maybe they can build onto that.

Firo sighs in disbelief at Shadow's first answer. Come on, really?

"What's that like? Er, wait, how about instead of tellin' us, you start." He nudges one of the buckets closer to Shadow.

He looks to Muscovy for confirmation. Good idea, right?

[muscovy]

Muscovy nods. Shadow just starting sounds good.

"You can paint the view from your window in a way that both Europe and America are on it, then me and Firo can insert our homes!"

...Probably not the way Shadow would have seen them, because Muscovy only has a very vague idea about what his place might look like from above. "Like we see them."

[foundafamily]

Firo blinks. "What? Of course they are. They're countries." Well, one of them is.

"Don't they have those where you're from?"

Then again, there's nobody like Shadow walking around where Firo's from, so maybe their worlds have many differences.

[muscovy]

"They are places on Earth. And you see Earth from your window, yes?"

So they should be able to insert parts of the view in a different style.

[foundafamily]

"Better do a good job of it," Firo half-jokes. Hey, if Shadow's going to criticize him, he needs to put his money where his mouth is.

He stands back and folds his arms, intending to wait to paint until Shadow gets started. There's still time for him to weasel his way out of this. ...Even if he kind of doesn't want to.

[muscovy]

Muscovy nods and steps back.

"Do you have all the colours that you will need?"

It is nice to think that they're doing something together, the three of them.

Firo looks back to their stash of paint cans and, if Muscovy doesn't get it first, moves a white closer to Shadow. He doesn't want the kid to have to lift something that heavy.

He squints at Shadow's work so far. "What's it supposed to be?"

Impatient? Maybe a little.

[muscovy]

Firo is faster with moving the paint, or rather, Muscovy checks first if he'll move in and stays where he is when he sees Firo moving, because really - Firo is taller, it is a lot simpler to move buckets of paint when you're two feet taller.

For the moment, he'll just watch what Shadow is doing.

"Space? Miriam said she was from one of those, but I didn't think they'd be that common."

He makes a mental note to ask her if there were any giant hedgehogs on hers. Probably not.

[muscovy]

"I was on a ship that travelled through space before coming here, too. Before it crashed on the jungle planet."

Not a colony, but still. He can't remember if this version of Firo already knows about that, and is rather certain that he hasn't told Shadow.

"But we never travelled past Earth."

Not while he was there, anyway, or he might have stayed behind.

Firo peers at Muscovy. "Is that the ship we were on?" It feels weird to say that, given that he still doesn't recall it.

He thinks about that as he looks back at Shadow's painting. "...I don't think we're gonna be able to add our homes to this."

It looks more like an ocean floating in nothing or a puddle in a dark warehouse to Firo. With space travel decades away, he can't even picture what the planet in space would look like.

[muscovy]

"There was no reason to mention it, yes? And yes, you were on that ship, too. You'd been there much longer than me."

He turns to Shadow, explaining: "But he doesn't remember it."

Tilting his head to the side a bit, he studies the painting after that, trying to figure out if it is an Earth that America and Russia could be on. ..It would be helpful if he'd actually ever seen a map of the world created after the middle ages.
