Sleeping on the cold dirt ground of the colosseum is enough to make anyone uncomfortable. It might be a little worse this month than others, as some of you may be waking up on top of or around various self defense devices (btw: that last one is a taser).
Come to think of it, you'll probably need those. Also in the colosseum and already stalking you are... uh, well, stalkers from the Borderlands game series. Stalkers come armed with claws, teeth, and sharp tails- and what's more, they can turn invisible to sneak up on you. Zap them with your newfound taser or stab them with your jewelry comb knife or just run away screaming- we won't judge, but you have to do something or else they'll kill you and eat your corpse and all sorts of unfortunate things.
Good luck finding a way out. Maybe you can make some friends along the way.
All done and escaped from the clutches of the colosseum? Awesome! Feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, find a new monster, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!► This log covers August 10th-15th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
City
[And what comes out when she speaks is a soft-spoken monotone, almost robotic:]
What are you doing?
[It's an impression that she graces with a lot of strangers. The "dumb robot act", as it's once been called. But this child, who for some reason is digging their way through some building wreckage, would have no way of knowing that.]
no subject
It's a stiff sort of blankness that's directed right back, mind sifting over the question to come up with something absolute.]
I don't know.
[They were just.
Walking. For the sake of it.]
no subject
[In fact, "here" has presented Rey the most confounding conundrum yet.]
Seems like you were looking for something.
[An exit, perhaps. Because that's what almost everyone seeks out when they first arrive.]
no subject
[If they were, they wouldn't know it. And it almost feels like cheating, having nothing to provide when someone's actually asking them, for once. What are you up to? What are you looking for?
There's a newness to this type of inquiry, a focus of perspective that Frisk doesn't know what to do with.
Feels like they should.]
I'm new. I was just looking.
no subject
[Not that Rey was aiming for confirmation or anything, it is good to know for certain. Some can be more reclusive than others, so it isn't always easy to just assume who is new and who isn't.]
Well, you should be mindful of where you look, since you're new. Some places are more precarious than others here.
[Especially for tiny human-shaped things.]
no subject
[Really, they will. At least that much they can say for certain.
There's a slight lull, at that point. The same rules for polite conversation on the Surface might not apply here, but who's to say the similarities between here and the Underground don't end with that- that they are underground?]
...What's your name?
no subject
...
It's Rey. And you are...?
[Introductions and social norms are so strange sometimes, and very often a thing she tends to neglect taking initiative in.]
no subject
Looks like names are a thing that matters around here, after all.]
Frisk. It's- nice to meet you.
[Just short of sounding like a question; as per the usual social norms that go along with this sort of thing, they'll just. Stick out a hand for her to take, as well.]
no subject
[Precious time that, evidently, Rey now has to spare.]
Yes. Sure. Nice.
[Social etiquette dictate that the common handshake is a usual form of greeting. Of course, Rey is very aware of this. She just has to remind herself that this is indeed a thing that some people do, while knowing others who are more adverse to physical contact. Germs and all.
[And she does so, after a moment of awkward silence of her own. Her mouth tightens into a thin line at the kid.] Where, um. Do you come from?
no subject
Is not what's happening, right now.
Almost like real, actual conversations require both parties to contribute. Who'd've thought?]
Uh...Underground. Just not this underground.
[...]
A different one.
[In case that wasn't clear.]
no subject
Oh. Huh.
Was born in an underground city as well. Much different from this one, but--
[She scratches her forehead, glancing away for a moment.]
--Well, not "born" so much as made. [Same difference?
[No, not really.]]
no subject
Oh. That's cool.
[It is, really. With that little bit of information, it's much easier to slot her into the same group of people they've known for so long. The underground could make one kinder in many ways.]
...Made? Like a robot?
no subject
Um.
[That isn't a wrong assessment, is it? But would this kid be one of those who would get the difference between a synthetic person and a robot?]
...Sort of. Am a mixture of both machine and organic... stuff. [This is what happens when Rey attempts to avoid getting too technical.]
no subject
So- she's like Mettaton. Frisk nods wisely, the explanation making perfect sense, as far as they're concerned. No technicalities required.]
Do you like to entertain people?
[Some technicalities required.]
no subject
What? [Her expressionless façade breaks with an incredulous look.] No. Not really. Why would you ask that?
[Such a weird question.]
no subject
I thought of someone else.
no subject
Something funny about them?
no subject
Maybellinejust Frisk. Hard to say.]They're really dramatic.
[To say the least.]
no subject
[Pfff.]
Know a few who are very much like that. [Though not necessarily dramatic in a fun way.]
no subject
...Yeah. Yeah it does.]
Are they here too?
no subject
Fortunately, no. They're not exactly people you'd want around to start their brand of drama.
