Everything seems more or less normal in Hadriel on the 14th - at least at first. But wait, who's that over there? Why are they walking so weird? Are they feeling okay? Wow, did they just try to bite you? Oh shit, you might've seen a movie like this before. That was definitely a zombie.
But hey, it's no big deal. A few zombies here and there are pretty easy to avoid, especially when you can outrun them without too much trouble. They're only really dangerous if they're fast or if there are a lot of them, and they sure aren't fast! Only - well, before long, there are a lot of them. You can hardly go outside without running into one, and mobs form quickly. Went out for supplies? Let's hope they didn't follow you - you might get stuck in that shop, mobile corpses pounding on the door. Oh, and don't stand too close to the windows of your house. They'll be more than happy to smash the glass trying to get you.
Don't worry, though! A hard blow to the head will take these zombies out, and you'll be sitting pretty, as long as none of them bite you. None of them bit you... right? Wow, what a relief. We're all glad you're not concealing a life-threatening zombie bite from your friends! Who would do that, anyway? Now if you can manage that until the 20th, you'll be safe and sound as the zombies shamble out of the city. Hopefully you won't be shambling with them.► This log covers September 14th-September 20th.

teamwork, motherfuckers
Ready.
[She stands tall, poised, elegant. And then, almost so fast it seems unreal, she sweeps her free hand out across the air in front of her, unleashing flames on the approaching undead. The blast knocks the ones in the front back, but their heads are still attached, so Faith gives a nod and goes at them with her quarterstaff.
Her movements are swift and precise, as if Alicia were watching her to critique even the tiniest parts of her performance.
It makes the game more fun.]
The burnt ones are easier to kill! [This she yells to Kate between the dying groans of the zombies she kills, and the cries she gives with every strike.
Her smile carries on her voice.]

like hitting the side of the building behind her and pushing herself off to resume taking to the air. she can't actually fly (which sucks, by the by. when are the gods going to give them wings?) so this is as close as she gets to it.
knives get flung straight into burning skulls, crunch through bone and squelch into brain. )
Never thought zombies would be this boring. ( seriously. she was terrified of them as a kid. these things? they're easy. she doesn't even need to feel remorse about their murders, because they're not really... anything. just mindless killing machines.
when she drops to the ground, she stamps right on the shoulders of one and crashes a fist over the head of another.
hey, these assholes decided to turn up mid-shower. they can have their asses kicked for that alone. )
no subject
She's with you on the flying, though. What's the point of being named for a bird if you can't fly like one? Wouldn't that be a sight too, Faith engulfed in flames, soaring through the skies.
That would be legendary.]
Hah! Right? [Faith laughs as she swings her quarterstaff at one of the shambling undead, taking its head clear off. It would be graceful if it weren't so gruesome.] If I have to feed any o' these gods today, I sure hope it's Delight who's getting energy!
[Ironically, that thought is also feeding Hope, but since he's the one bringing people back to life, Faith isn't opposed to that.]
no subject
and Kate stands by the fact that you have quite enough power missy. she'll totally take flight. something more fun and obvious than the ability to enchant.
Kate's foot goes flying into the gut of a zombie, sending it stumbling back towards Faith and her staff. think fast, girl. )
... Too happy about this.
( okay, so in comparison to a lot of things they've ever fought, or things that have turned up in Hadriel, these are relatively easy to defeat - slow, brainless, and weak to a crack on the noggin - but Kate's not sure she's ever described combat as fun.
sparring, maybe. but sparring doesn't involve brain and blood splatter. )
no subject
Psh, that's nothing. Faith times the swing of her quarterstaff perfectly, knocking the thing's head clean off, moving with it to avoid getting hit by the corpse.]
Oh, what, this isn't worse than anything we've ever seen before!
[And it's nice, fighting things that are dead, protecting people without hurting anyone, using her powers in a place where no one expects anything of her.
Sorry, Fear. You fucked up, as far as Faith goes!]
no subject
( knifing zombies in the skull, though... )
Just don't see this as fun.
( mildly irritating, and a good workout, but not. fun. )
no subject
[She says, not realizing it's going to get worse in the next few days and even she could run out of patiience and sunshine.
For now, though, Faith will enjoy it.]
Least I know now you've not been slacking on your knife-throwing.
[Making Alicia proud while stuck underground!]
no subject
(well, she still worries, but that knot in her stomach is a permanent feature, one that is almost assuaged by the fact that she can guess what Faith will do next.)
more knives thrown, and they're nearly through this infestation. ) Plenty of chances to practice. ( seriously. although, let's be real, back home, Kate was probably training just as much as Miss Turns Up In Her Sports Bra, here. )
Cover me.
( she is running out of ammo, though. time to pluck it out of some zombie heads.
... disgusting. )
no subject
Faith keeps zombies away from her as she recovers some knives. It's like playing arcade games, testing her coordination and aim -- and it's almost as fun.
(Well, okay, it's actually not fun when you're tryiing to make sure your friend doesn't get bitten. More important things to worry about than fun, in that case. Doesn't mean there's not a little smile on her face as she attacks the undead.)
You're just jealous of that sports bra.]God that looks nasty.
[Ew. There's gore.]
no subject
totally. she misses her underwear tbh. the only sports bra she has is the one she was wearing when she arrived (although, unlike Faith, it was hidden under the rest of her clothes).)It is.
... Guess we're nearly done.
( there's a whole load of undead at their feet, though.
can she finally have her shower? )
no subject
yolo]Mm, right. Gotta clean these bastards up. [Faith pouts.] Y'think maybe burnin' 'em to dry 'em out will help?
[It's just. It's so gross.
Showers for everyone tbh.]
no subject
(exaggerating but no one wants to live through one phoenix burn, never mind two.) )
no subject
Faith takes a few seconds and a few deep breaths to focus her power, and when she feels ready, she unleashes an arc of flames that flies juust over all the zombies in front of her, lighting them all up.
The stench is awful, but it soon turns to just acrid smoke (and when did she ever think she'd prefer that? first time for everything, looks like). The fire starts to die down when he combustibles fueling it run out, but just in case, Faith extenguishes the flames, leaving behind dried, blackened zombies.]
Done! Let's get rid of 'em. [She pauses, frowns.] Where do we take them, anyway?
no subject
she drops back down once the fire's gone, looking at the pile of charred undead. )
... No idea. Think we can dump them in an abandoned building?
no subject
no subject
Rage takes monsters for bullets. These might count.
( and, after a beat; ) Or we drop 'em in Fear's temple.
no subject
[They have powers. Hell yeah.
Oh but wait--] This is Fear's fault, yeh? [Faith's thoughtful look goes full troll grin.] Let's do it. Maybe we can get a rug from somewhere and drag 'em over.
no subject
( her powers do fuck all in combat.
but she knows that grin, and Kate exhales a soft laugh. suggesting things to Faith is just asking for them to be considered seriously.
and, well, it'd be a great fuck you. let's be honest. it's a shame they don't have a telekinetic, but-
well. )
Try one of the abandoned flats?
no subject
She won't comment on it, though, because she's too focused on the plot they've just concocted. Sweet revenge!]
Y'want to go find the rug, or will you stay with the corpses?
[Better let the haemophobe pick.]
no subject
Kate appreciates it, really. )
Rug.
( if she happens to take her time, happens to come back with a fresh change of clothes, washed and with cloth slung over her shoulder to fashion into a wrap for her head (several pieces, actually), well. we're not going to mention that, are we? )
Got it.
( she dumps the thing by the corpses with a grunt, pulls one of the strips of cloth off her shoulder. ) Want one?
( best to keep yourself wrapped up against zombie splatter, right? )
no subject
With a whoop, she leaps over a corpse (what, it's in the way) and takes the strip of cloth from Kate.]
Okay, [she says once it's tied.] Teamwork'll get this done quick! Ready?
[She's no cheerleader, but by god is she full of pep right now.]
no subject
Kate doesn't seem remotely fazed by the pep, is used to it like she's used to being popped around from country to country by Carl's teleportation, and merely nods. )
Let's do this.
( one zombie, meet one rug.
... she's gonna need another shower after this. )
