What: Part one of the fourth wall event, hosted by Fear, Confusion, and Delight!
Where: All around the city
When: October 24th-November 1st
Warnings: Visitors from other worlds!
If you're not from around here, you may be wondering what's going on. You've woken up out of the blue in the colosseum, or near a temple, or in one of the numerous other locations in the city. You're somewhere underground and it's dark, cold, and maybe a little unnerving.
Luckily, shortly after your arrival, the road below your feet begins to light up in a gentle, warm glow. The light points you in a set direction and, if you choose to travel that way, will lead you toward the center of the city, where there is a large gathering of others who are lost here like you, people who might know their way around a bit more, and even some of the gods who rule this place.
There are lights strung up on poles throughout the large clearing, casting a comforting glow onto the tables beneath them. The tables are abundant with lots of food that looks simply delicious- though, none of it tastes quite like it should. The tarts taste like green beans, the mashed potatoes like cheesecake, and the chocolate seems oddly reminiscent of steak. In addition, there are decorations artfully placed around the meeting point. If you see them moving, don't worry- that's probably just your imagination.
Also distributed along the tables are shot glasses, filled with a sludgy, yellow substance. If you're brave enough to consume them, they taste strongly of mint and will give you a much needed energy boost, circumventing the need to eat or sleep for a full 24 hours! After that, however, everything hits you all at once, so use them wisely. Some of you may remember these shots from our How Delightful event earlier this year!
In addition to all of the above, there are also party poppers strewn around the area. Each popper can jet out some strange objects- glitter bombs, seashells, plastic dinosaurs, maybe a live lizard or two- so be careful! Feel free to use your discretion on these, but remember to keep it small!
_
Of course, you can always not travel that way. The rest of the city has plenty of places to explore- maybe you'd like to stumble in our Silent Hill zone, have a quick look around the alien orchard, or check out any of the god temples that can inspire their chosen emotion. Be careful not to get lost in the tunnels leading away from the cave- none of them can actually move you above ground, but you may run into a few monsters on the way.
For those of you who have been with us awhile, please bear with the gods while they try to adjust around these new folks! Join in on the festivities if you like, or try to orient as many of the others as you can. Start a community outreach program, start a fight club, introduce your parents to your weird cave girlfriend- nobody's judging!
Well. Some of us might be.
_
Enjoy the fourth wall event at Hadriel! Once you're settled in feel free to explore the rest of the city! Find a house, find a new monster, or simply scavenge for supplies.
Fourth wall characters do not enter with phones so they cannot reach the network- however, if you'd like to handwave that they somehow got ahold of Mello's Newcomer guide to avoid the 'where am I/what is this' sort of questions, then feel free!
Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!► This log covers October 24th-November 1st.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well! Fourth wall characters will not have posting access, so grab an in-game friend if you wanted to do anything separate from the main log.
► Fourth wall characters will be in the city for at least one week, though they can stay for longer. The party will go on throughout the entire week, thanks to Delight's boundless energy!
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
Kate Fuller | From Dusk Till Dawn | OTA - will match formats!
It's- jarring, that's the best word for this, because just seconds ago Kate was standing on the side of a road just like this one, watching Seth dig into the bag she's still got clutched in her arms for a stack of money and then striking off down the road, leaving her alone but with the lion's share of the take from that stupid job, leaving her with the car. She still feels numb from it, but this road and that road, she's almost positive they aren't the same.
She can't be in Mexico anymore, can she?
But the location of the road is the only thing that's changed. She's still splattered in blood, still feels just as lost, and so she does what she'd have done in Mexico if she was still there, just without the car this time. She picks a direction and she starts to walk, follows the oddly lit up road and hopes that somewhere at the end of this road there's something that might make more sense.
[Town Center]
By the time she's made it to the party she's found somewhere to clean most of the blood off her face, her clothes and her hair are dark enough that the red doesn't show, but she's still holding a ratty looking woven bag in one hand as she looks over the refreshments.
It was a long walk, it was a long day, but there's a human centipede baby decoration and it's kind of making her not trust whoever set out this food. When she sees other people eating and not immediately choking it makes her feel a little more secure, but-
"Excuse me," she says to whoever is nearest, putting on a smile that's at least sincere, if a little nervous. "Who is it that's holding this party?"
At least that will give her a little more to go on before she digs in.

[The cheerful voice is coming from behind her, and if she turns around, she'll see a child looking up at her.
no subject
Oh- are you lost? You really shouldn't be out here alone.
[That's just a guess, honestly, but this is a little kid and Kate is only human, how can you not immediately switch into protective mode?]
no subject
[He points down the street towards the spiral that his house is located on. He'll try to skip over the topic of him not having a guardian with him - that always comes up, but with some people you can just skid around it.]
And you are new, yes?
[Or at least he gets the distinct impression that she is, even though it isn't the right time for that at all.]
no subject
More than that, asking if she's new implies this is something that's either normal or permanent and that's not really all that great to hear at the moment.]
I guess so. I'm Kate. [And she comes closer, thinks twice about that when she remembers- he said she could do with a bath because she has blood all over her. She doesn't want to scare him.] How long have you been here?
no subject
[He thinks. Now that she asks, he realizes that he hasn't been keeping track of the time at all. There was too much else to worry about, and it didn't seem important to him. Back home, the seasons would have made keeping track of that easier.]
I'm Muscovy M. Prochainezo.
no subject
Well, Muscovy, why don't I take you back home?
[Because she's still standing by the whole you shouldn't be out here on your own thing, young man.]
no subject
Then you can take a bath, yes? We have soap. [Or something that qualifies sufficiently as soap. And even that liquid soap that some people use for hair.]
no subject
Her hands are clean, so she shifts her bag to one and holds the other out to him. If this were a trap of some sort she'd have fallen right into it, but he's just so small.]
Is there someone at your house right now?
[Someone to take care of him, she means.]
no subject
[Or not. They are gone as frequently as he is, or perhaps even more often.]
But don't worry, they won't mind you being around. And big bro is a bit silly about people being naked so he will stay far away while you take a bath.
no subject
I'll do us both a favor and just wash my face, then.
no subject
I will get you new clothes while you are in the bath.
[They will probably not be perfect, but big enough to fit her.]
no subject
You don't seem that afraid, though. I could have killed someone and you'd have no way of knowing.
[She didn't, would never, and there's a cross dangling from a gold chain around her neck so it's probably not even a good bluff, but the point is still valid.]
(no subject)
town centre.
[ Mike rolls his shoulder in a shrug, the shotgun draped lazily across his lap. Wolfie is curled up at his feet, presumably snoozing. There's a row of empty chairs for guests, and no monsters around, but who fucking knows, right? ]
I'm Mike.
no subject
Kate. [And it's a relief, sort of, to see someone who looks about the same age as her here.] Is it safe or should I just pass for now?
no subject
That [ pointing to the plate near her ] should be all right. The other table's no-go.
no subject
What's wrong with that table?
no subject
Food'll make you sick.
Road
Ushahin stares at the girl. Directly at her, which is unusual, given his propensity for staring off to the side or over the head of most people. She is covered in blood, but that's not what draws his attention. Richie had let him into his mind when he'd first arrived. He'd seen the image of this girl, brief as it was.
"I have seen your face before," he says in a soft voice to her. His own looks as though it was shattered once before and poorly put back together. One cheekbone is sunken in while the other rides high up. His left temple is caved in and his jaw is crooked. To top it all off, his left eye is clearly damaged.
no subject
After culebras, she's willing to believe in just about anything these days.
"It must have been someone else," she says in return, stopping where she is in the middle of the road so there's still plenty of space between them. "We haven't met."
no subject
"I know things," he says by way of explanation. Not that it explains a whole lot. He tries again. "Someone allowed me into his mind here and there were memories of you inside it." This is what happens when someone gives Ushahin full rein to go inside their head. His eyes drift away and now he's looking right over Kate's head. He sees people not only as they physically are, but as they see themselves, hence why he rarely looks them in the eye for too long.
no subject
And he sounds like Richie, in a way. Richie had seen things, he just knew them, so maybe that makes this a little easier to believe now.
"What memories? What did you see?" She asks, rather than asking who he saw it from. Chances are once she knows the what the who will fall into place.
no subject
"I saw two brothers. They took a family of three and made them help them get away in a large car thing." Ushahin comes from a medieval world, and while he may have learned more about what is involved in modern times, his vocabulary doesn't extend to knowing what an RV is.
"You were taken to a land called Mexico. Then the monsters showed up." At least, Ushahin thought they were monsters. It was a little hard to tell, what with Richie's memories being skewed at random points with his visions. Memory could be a fickle thing if someone couldn't trust their own eyes.
no subject
"Did you see anything after that?"
no subject
"You should take care of that blood," he said, blinking as if he finally noticed the girl was splattered with it. He pulls a handkerchief out of his pocket and offers it so that she can at least wipe her face.
