Event Log: Fourth Wall, Part One

Who: Everyone in the city + Fourth Wall visitors!
What: Part one of the fourth wall event, hosted by Fear, Confusion, and Delight!
Where: All around the city
When: October 24th-November 1st
Warnings: Visitors from other worlds!

If you're not from around here, you may be wondering what's going on. You've woken up out of the blue in the colosseum, or near a temple, or in one of the numerous other locations in the city. You're somewhere underground and it's dark, cold, and maybe a little unnerving.

Luckily, shortly after your arrival, the road below your feet begins to light up in a gentle, warm glow. The light points you in a set direction and, if you choose to travel that way, will lead you toward the center of the city, where there is a large gathering of others who are lost here like you, people who might know their way around a bit more, and even some of the gods who rule this place.

There are lights strung up on poles throughout the large clearing, casting a comforting glow onto the tables beneath them. The tables are abundant with lots of food that looks simply delicious- though, none of it tastes quite like it should. The tarts taste like green beans, the mashed potatoes like cheesecake, and the chocolate seems oddly reminiscent of steak. In addition, there are decorations artfully placed around the meeting point. If you see them moving, don't worry- that's probably just your imagination.

Also distributed along the tables are shot glasses, filled with a sludgy, yellow substance. If you're brave enough to consume them, they taste strongly of mint and will give you a much needed energy boost, circumventing the need to eat or sleep for a full 24 hours! After that, however, everything hits you all at once, so use them wisely. Some of you may remember these shots from our How Delightful event earlier this year!

In addition to all of the above, there are also party poppers strewn around the area. Each popper can jet out some strange objects- glitter bombs, seashells, plastic dinosaurs, maybe a live lizard or two- so be careful! Feel free to use your discretion on these, but remember to keep it small!
_

Of course, you can always not travel that way. The rest of the city has plenty of places to explore- maybe you'd like to stumble in our Silent Hill zone, have a quick look around the alien orchard, or check out any of the god temples that can inspire their chosen emotion. Be careful not to get lost in the tunnels leading away from the cave- none of them can actually move you above ground, but you may run into a few monsters on the way.

For those of you who have been with us awhile, please bear with the gods while they try to adjust around these new folks! Join in on the festivities if you like, or try to orient as many of the others as you can. Start a community outreach program, start a fight club, introduce your parents to your weird cave girlfriend- nobody's judging!

Well. Some of us might be.
_

Enjoy the fourth wall event at Hadriel! Once you're settled in feel free to explore the rest of the city! Find a house, find a new monster, or simply scavenge for supplies.

Fourth wall characters do not enter with phones so they cannot reach the network- however, if you'd like to handwave that they somehow got ahold of Mello's Newcomer guide to avoid the 'where am I/what is this' sort of questions, then feel free!

Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

► This log covers October 24th-November 1st.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well! Fourth wall characters will not have posting access, so grab an in-game friend if you wanted to do anything separate from the main log.
► Fourth wall characters will be in the city for at least one week, though they can stay for longer. The party will go on throughout the entire week, thanks to Delight's boundless energy!
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!

It isn't like many people would enjoy such a gesture, but Rey in particular is not fond of people grabbing her. The cold doesn't bother her so much as the abrupt seize by the wrist, halting her from continuing any farther down her patrol route.

Out the corner of her eye, she thought he just might be another particular ice alien that she already knows. But it's clear right away from his eyes and color and different form that this is someone else. Perhaps from Glacius' world...?

Either way, he is met with a dangerous scowl from an annoyed Rey. A somewhat different Rey from the one Algidus knows, because the hand he's taken has, strangely enough, all fingers intact.

"Am going to give you five seconds to let. The fuck. Go," she says lowly, almost a growl.
thecoldshoulder: (... No.)

[personal profile] thecoldshoulder 2016-10-24 09:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Unfortunately Algidus is generally flippant enough towards people that a detail like one's amount of fingers goes unnoticed. He even starts to let out a low, rumbling chuckle in response to her scowl, amused and anticipatory--he's sensing an outlet for all of the anger that's slowly been building inside of him. Would getting into a fight and beating on this human be a lovely way to relieve some of those frustrations?

Then she speaks, and realization smacks the ice alien right in the face as his narrow focus expands and he actually sees who it is that he has grabbed. The otherworldly visitor releases her in his surprise, giving a few rapid-fire blinks before he narrows his eyes.

"Makers. You're here too?" Of all the people from that jungle, she'd been one of the ones that he clashed with the most... and yet somehow she'd also been the one to come to his aid in a handful of dire situations. Algidus never could figure Rey out. Instead he snorts, misinterpreting the way she's regarding him. "Surprised to see me alive and kicking after the fires, are you?"
circumitus: I ONLY KNOW HOLA. (EVERYONE IS SPEAKING SPANISH)

While it's hardly the first time a stranger has spoken to her as if they somehow know her, she still isn't used to it by any means. And, judging by his appearance, this guy can't be someone from her world, so that leaves only one other option.

She takes a step back, more in an effort to get the alien out of her personal space than anything else as she gives him another once over.

"Don't say you've also come from that place with the ship?" Rey quips, a bitter taste in her mouth.

Though the alternative would imply that there's even more of her out there than she realizes, and she isn't sure how to feel about that.
thecoldshoulder: than when we all started out as kids (We all are stranger creatures)

"Of course I came from there, I--" Algidus pauses, narrowing his eyes. Then he lifts his head as realization of the obliviousness in her tone strikes him. That place? The ship? Startlingly general terms for someone who once claimed to have been on the Tranquility for so long.

"Don't say you don't know what I'm talking about. This isn't a damned joke."
circumitus: I CAN QUIT ANY FUCKING TIME I WANT. (i'm not drunk YOU'RE drunk)

[personal profile] circumitus 2016-10-26 04:17 am (UTC)(link)
It's almost a relief to know that he actually is from the same place Carlisle and Muscovy spoke of. If not for them, this conversation would be going much differently, and with much more fire and punching involved.

"Oh, no, am aware of what you're talking about. You're just talking to the wrong person." She throws up a hand. "Have never been to a ship called the Tranquility, but there are a couple here who have, apparently."

Doesn't that make you so glad to hear, Algidus?
thecoldshoulder: (Watchful.)

[personal profile] thecoldshoulder 2016-10-26 01:49 pm (UTC)(link)
"Talking to the wrong--do you think I'm stupid?" Algidus snapped, "You humans may be so ignorant as to have difficulty telling members of other species apart but I don't have to share in your shortcomings. I recognize you. Though..."

Now that his knee-jerk indignant reaction is out of the way, the green ice alien takes time to think on the rest of her words... and he's such an old hand at being torn from words and tossed into new ones at this point that it's not the first time he's heard of such a thing happening. It's just the first time it has happened to someone that he knows. He's not sure what the powers that oversee these worlds get from fucking with people to this extent--amusement from the bumbling confusion and heartbreak of severed bonds, perhaps. And on that note...

"These others. What are their names?" He takes a step towards Rey again, narrowing her eyes as one name in particular sticks in his mind. He doesn't know if it would be better or worse if she wasn't here, given that he didn't know much about this cave; all he knew is that they'd been pulled apart once before and it had been harder for him to bear than he'd ever thought. He didn't want either of them to be forced to fend for themselves again.
circumitus: its people like u that make people like me go to rehab. he has a lazy eye for christ sakes. (your girlfriend is a south jersey whore)

"That depends," Rey retorts flatly. "Am not human, so that obviously says something about how well we knew each other."

Despite the advancing step towards her, she holds her ground. But she's also steeled herself in case he decides to attack her again, for whatever reason. Maybe the answer she gives him next won't be the one he wants to hear. Could be anything.

This one definitely seems more volatile than his bluer, more polite counterpart.

"The ones already here are Carlisle and Muscovy."

She keeps her arms at her sides, ready to move, either to reach for a weapon or utilize her own self. Just in case. Already she doesn't like the vibes this one is giving.
thecoldshoulder: (I don't have to like it.)

[personal profile] thecoldshoulder 2016-10-26 05:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Thankfully this unwelcome news seems to disarm the hostile alien for a moment. For one moment so fleeting Rey could've blinked and missed it, Algidus' face absolutely falls--but he hurries to cover his open dismay, choosing instead to mask it behind emotions that are more familiar. He tilts his head up so that he can look down his nasal cap at the woman as he gives her a resentful look.

"I don't know why I'm asking you. If you truly have no memory of the place or people that we had previously known, then you could have met AJ without even knowing it. This line of inquiry is waste of my time. What if I asked you of this sad little cave? Who brought me here? It was not coincidence--it never has been."
circumitus: Keep up the good work. (it's a 12/12/12 miracle)

[personal profile] circumitus 2016-10-27 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
Though brief, for a trained eye like Rey's to catch such little details, Algidus' reaction does not go by unnoticed. She stares at him for a moment after he speaks, a guarded expression on her face as she tells herself to tread lightly. Hard as that may be.

"A couple of the guys who run this place have been fucking around with some other-dimensional doorway. It's why we're all here."

She'd ask him who the hell AJ is, and what, if any, relation he has with Glacius. But baby steps.
thecoldshoulder: (Glowering.)

[personal profile] thecoldshoulder 2016-10-30 06:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Algidus lets out a snort of pure disgust at that. He'd been assuming it was another of the bizarrely omnipotent forces that he seems to keep running up against that was responsible for this... but it's just some fools meddling with a force they do not understand? Likely human, too, from the way she speaks of them. Utterly typical of the species.

"Where are these 'guys'? I will find them, set them straight. They clearly have no understanding of the forces they meddle with, but such a doorway could be used to return us all to our rightful worlds!" And that is something he craves more than anything. He'll tear through any obstacle to achieve that goal, and his blazing green eyes and bristling posture speak to that every clearly.

Such haughty obstinacy forces an unflattering scoff out of Rey.

"If that was something that could be easily done, everyone would be where they belong by now."

As it is, the only one who has the knowledge to send them back home is too stubborn of an asshole to do so. Not that Rey is complaining, and that she's going to share that knowledge with someone who tried manhandling her earlier. Otherwise he's just going to get himself killed. Or worse.
