Warnings: Visitors from other worlds!
What: Part one of the fourth wall event, hosted by Fear, Confusion, and Delight!
Where: All around the city
When: October 24th-November 1st
Warnings: Visitors from other worlds!
If you're not from around here, you may be wondering what's going on. You've woken up out of the blue in the colosseum, or near a temple, or in one of the numerous other locations in the city. You're somewhere underground and it's dark, cold, and maybe a little unnerving.
Luckily, shortly after your arrival, the road below your feet begins to light up in a gentle, warm glow. The light points you in a set direction and, if you choose to travel that way, will lead you toward the center of the city, where there is a large gathering of others who are lost here like you, people who might know their way around a bit more, and even some of the gods who rule this place.
There are lights strung up on poles throughout the large clearing, casting a comforting glow onto the tables beneath them. The tables are abundant with lots of food that looks simply delicious- though, none of it tastes quite like it should. The tarts taste like green beans, the mashed potatoes like cheesecake, and the chocolate seems oddly reminiscent of steak. In addition, there are decorations artfully placed around the meeting point. If you see them moving, don't worry- that's probably just your imagination.
Also distributed along the tables are shot glasses, filled with a sludgy, yellow substance. If you're brave enough to consume them, they taste strongly of mint and will give you a much needed energy boost, circumventing the need to eat or sleep for a full 24 hours! After that, however, everything hits you all at once, so use them wisely. Some of you may remember these shots from our How Delightful event earlier this year!
In addition to all of the above, there are also party poppers strewn around the area. Each popper can jet out some strange objects- glitter bombs, seashells, plastic dinosaurs, maybe a live lizard or two- so be careful! Feel free to use your discretion on these, but remember to keep it small!
_
Of course, you can always not travel that way. The rest of the city has plenty of places to explore- maybe you'd like to stumble in our Silent Hill zone, have a quick look around the alien orchard, or check out any of the god temples that can inspire their chosen emotion. Be careful not to get lost in the tunnels leading away from the cave- none of them can actually move you above ground, but you may run into a few monsters on the way.
For those of you who have been with us awhile, please bear with the gods while they try to adjust around these new folks! Join in on the festivities if you like, or try to orient as many of the others as you can. Start a community outreach program, start a fight club, introduce your parents to your weird cave girlfriend- nobody's judging!
Well. Some of us might be.
_
Enjoy the fourth wall event at Hadriel! Once you're settled in feel free to explore the rest of the city! Find a house, find a new monster, or simply scavenge for supplies.
Fourth wall characters do not enter with phones so they cannot reach the network- however, if you'd like to handwave that they somehow got ahold of Mello's Newcomer guide to avoid the 'where am I/what is this' sort of questions, then feel free!
Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!► This log covers October 24th-November 1st.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well! Fourth wall characters will not have posting access, so grab an in-game friend if you wanted to do anything separate from the main log.
► Fourth wall characters will be in the city for at least one week, though they can stay for longer. The party will go on throughout the entire week, thanks to Delight's boundless energy!
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
Arrival
General.
[He acknowledges his (somewhat) comrade in arms with a curt nod of the head. Well, at least they're in this together. And if they come across some primitive tribe like a group of savage Ewoks, he has someone he can throw to them while Kylo makes a run for it.]
no subject
Even here he wouldn't give Ren the satisfaction of showing any kind of annoyance if he could help it.]
Kylo Ren.
[Snoke wasn't here as far as he could tell. It would have been so satisfying to draw his blaster and shoot Ren in his stupid face- or mask. It would no doubt be in vain but the thought alone was comforting.]
What a surprise to find you here.
no subject
[They could work together and improve their chances on whatever desolate planet they seem to stuck inside. Or they could fall back into the same patterns of sniping at each other and trying to undermine what the other was doing. No prizes for guessing which route Kylo Ren was taking.]
There are Force users here.
[He could sense them. Both those who followed the Light and the Dark had ended up here. If that was the case, it made sense as to why he had been drawn to this place. Hux made less sense. The man was as Force sensitive as a brick.]
no subject
[There weren't many other Force sensitives of note in the galaxy still but the ones here had to be of note for Ren to take notice of them.]
I know about one of the Force users here at least.
[That's all he'll give Ren for now. The other would have to offer up something else for Hux to disclose any more information. They both worked in the interests of the First Order but that didn't mean he was going to simply follow Ren's lead.]
no subject
[He's not being vaguely obtuse on purpose. Kylo senses someone with a Force signature very much like his uncle, but something about it seems...different. He can't quite put his finger on what it is. And there is someone here who is wielding the Dark Side with as much skill, if not more so, than he is. That's someone he's definitely going to want to find.]
Care to elaborate?
[Hux can't just leave Kylo wondering what he means. He'll wrangle the answer out of the general one way or another.]
no subject
[Hux doesn't need to be Force sensitive to see through Ren at times, it's come with five years of experience.]
It depends on what you can offer me in return. Leader Snoke isn't here so this leaves us with choices, doesn't it?
[He can and he will so long as he can help it. Of course Ren could force it out of him but he's willing to take the risk.]
no subject
[The thing about games is that Kylo rarely plays by the rules. He's always looking to break them.]
How about I leave you with an intact windpipe?
[He reaches up a hand and drags Hux forward a few feet. He'll start doing a lot worse than that if the general continues to vex him. As he himself pointed out, Snoke isn't here, so there's no one to rein him in at the other end of his leash.]
no subject
[His heart rate went up but his expression remained defiant. He wasn't going to beg for his life even if Ren could snap his neck easily.]
All you know how to do is just snap necks and kill people. Which is useful, certainly, but it's not practical for you to just kill everyone here.
[He wasn't going to make any promises on what he would do for Ren, though.]
So you're playing my game to find out information I know. And that means we are working out how things stand between us in terms of working together. That doesn't include you choking me with the Force.
no subject
And what great talents do you possess that make it worth keeping you around for? I doubt there's anyone here for you to make speeches at.
no subject
Do you really need me to make a list? You should be telling me why I should keep you around, actually, given your recent shortcomings.
[It didn't matter that Ren had just been squeezing his throat, Hux wasn't about to be treated as some underling.]
So, the first thing I'm going to establish is that I'm not going to take orders from you. I'm not here to clean up after you and I'm not here for you to order around.
no subject
[The way Hux speaks, you'd think he was Kylo's mother. Or babysitter.
He is, not that Kylo will ever admit that. It's enough to make the Knight roll his eyes beneath his helm. Hux treats Kylo as though he's a disobedient child. Not the best way to make Ren respect or obey him.]What are you going to do if you run into unfriendly natives? Talk them to death?
[He doesn't even have a blaster on him, for Force's sake.]
no subject
[It took all if Hux's willpower not to roll his eyes at that. He knew Ren was either going to be the death or him or a constant headache the day they met five years ago.
That belief hadn't changed.]
Is that what you're offering me in return then? Protection from enemies of the First Order and Empire?
no subject
I might. What do you offer in return?
no subject
[Even here they had to have standards if they were to establish First Order rule properly.]
Do we have a deal, Ren?
no subject
We have a deal.
[He offers a hand for Hux to shake to seal it.]
no subject
[Hux reached out to shake Ren's hand firmly. He knew this alliance wouldn't last indefinitely but it would work for the time being. That was fine with him.]
Now, we should deal with practical matters first like the basics. Figure out where we can live while we're here.
no subject
There appears to be plenty of housing. Take your pick.
[Living together. Oh joy. Still, it was better to stick together for right now until they knew exactly what they were dealing with here. Kylo may not have trusted Hux any farther than he could throw him, but he was the only one here right now he wasn't regarding with suspicion.]
no subject
We have to choose somewhere suitable, however. Somewhere strategically placed and allows for as much privacy as much as possible at the same time.
no subject
Then an apartment might suit us better than a house.
[They've passed both, though most of them appear to be run down, as does the entire city. Whoever was here clearly was more primitive than most worlds in the galaxy. Not many planets would let their cities fall into disrepair if they could help it.]
no subject
There, we'll check out that apartment. [He pointed before leading the way. He had lived his life on star destroyers, this would be an adjustment no matter the situation anyway.]
no subject
[Kylo walks behind him, one hand hovering over his lightsaber. Just because it's quiet doesn't mean there isn't a threat around. This apartment appears to be somewhat inhabited, though many of the levels are also dark and dim with disuse. Before Hux can enter, Kylo reaches out and holds him back.]
Let me go first.
[If he's going to be protecting Hux, then dammit, he's going to live up to his end of the bargain, no matter how much it galls him.]
no subject
He stayed at the door though, watching the best he could as Kylo explored the apartment.]
Let me know when I can enter.
no subject
[Kylo's senses are on high alert as he enters. He reaches out with the Force, but he can't sense any other minds within range except Hux. Still, there might be some primitive creatures that are escaping his notice. He strides through, ready to pull out his lightsaber in the blink of an eye. Finally, he's satisfied and goes back out to the general.]
It's clear.
no subject
[Hux wrinkled his nose as he entered but he didn't make any comments. Cleaning would have to be done sooner rather than later but he wanted to see what they were working with first.
The apartment was bigger than his own personal quarters on the star destroyer but it would no doubt seem smaller with Kylo Ren as a roommate. He entered the bedroom, looking at what passed for a bed.]
You're sleeping on the floor. [He declared before moving off to look at the kitchen. He didn't know how to cook, he had a droid bring him food whenever he had time to eat. This would be an interesting experience.]
no subject
[Kylo bristled at the idea of being forced to sleep on the floor like some pet lothcat. Since when did Hux get to decide their living arrangements?]
The hell I am.
[Being an only child, Kylo had never learned how to share well with others. He was not about to start now. Still, if Hux put up an argument, it was practically guaranteed the knight would win. Only one of them had Force powers around here.]
