Event Log: Why Do You Have To Be Mad?

Who: Everyone participating in the event!
What: The event log for the Rage event!
Where: All around the city
When: December 15th-December 20th
Warnings: None! Well, potentially rage-induced destruction and fighting and maybe a tiny bit of murder? So, nothing out of the ordinary.

December is usually a time of festive holiday cheer... unfortunately, Hadriel isn't the sort of place that respects holidays. Rage has decided that it's time she's given her due and has put on another event! Unfortunately for everyone in the city, this event means that all characters are given a particularly aggravating pet peeve that entirely sets them into a flying rage.

See someone sleeping? They're now the object of your ire. See a tall building with a bunch of windows? Suddenly, all those windows need to be smashed. Fights are breaking out with depressing regularity, and a couple of them might be severe enough to injure someone in a bad way.

Look out for your fellow prisoners in Hadriel, and do try to figure out the categorizations of each person's issue fast- falling into these cycles of anger isn't good for anyone and is bound to make someone mad if you treat them wrong. Conversely, instead you can just find someone who has the same loathing as you and let your feelings amplify one another; after all, the best sort of friendship is one that's formed by mutual hatred!

► This log covers December 15th-December 20th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well
► Please tag headers of threads with content warnings where they apply
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
► If you get too caught up in your feelings and start a fight only to see that the person who pissed you off was really good at fighting, or if someone blew up the building you were kinda living in, please let us know here!
► As a final note, if you were not sorted and you would like to be, then please let us know in response to this post!

Firo likes his neighbors. Most of them.

There's one that he's not so fond of, at least today. The fish catches his eye through the window as Firo's walking by to go about his business. Firo stops in his tracks and looks back at it--it's mocking him, isn't it? The audacity of the thing! He mutters under his breath about seeing if the fish is so tough when there isn't a wall between them. Maybe he'll find out.

He continues staring at the weirdo and debates knocking on the door to ask Rey to let him in. Surely she'd understand the need to deal with this--he just hopes that she's not too fond of the fish, or else this might get awkward.

To no one's surprise, Rey hasn't been sleeping.

At least this time she has an excuse. Or about as much of one as anyone can get around here. It's been seventy-six since she's last allowed herself some shut-eye, with very little progress in sight. If not for her already existing habits of staying up days past her bedtime, maybe she would be more weary when she glances out the window to find Firo. Just staring back.

Rather, staring at the fish. At 'Wellingham', as Nick has opted to call the damn thing. But from this angle, it's hard to tell.

Sliding the window open, Rey sticks her head out and blinks down at Firo.

"What are you doing?"

Come on, bro. Don't be that creepy movie monster that just stands outside people's houses, trying to creep them out. You know Rey is going to be more annoyed than spooked by that shit.

It's only when Rey opens the window that Firo realizes this probably looks weird--he was too wrapped up in that very important staring contest to notice before. "Ah--Rey. Sorry about that."

He should explain, for sure. And maybe if he does, she'll let him in so she can settle this like a man--surely Rey would understand this.

Very seriously, Firo straightens up and looks her dead in the eyes. "I've got business with that fish in there. Mind lettin' me in?"
circumitus: If you can't drink cheep beer and whiskey with me, I don't want you. (fuck it)

Very weird, indeed.

Rey's brows furrowing, she glances down at Wellingham, then back to Firo. Like usual, the stupid fish is as useless as ever, swimming around in circles all day, doing nothing to contribute to life. But that is hardly an offense worth picking a bone with.

"That depends on what type of business you're talking about here. Doesn't sound like you mean to sell it a subscription."

Firo considers Rey a moment. When he's not focusing on the fish, he feels a little better, but then he remembers how it's there. Swimming. Like a jerk.

His resolve hardens. Instead of answering her question, he offers one of his own. "How much do you care about it?"

He likes Rey and mostly respects her opinions. If she's fond of this fish, things are going to be harder.
circumitus: Keep up the good work. (it's a 12/12/12 miracle)

[personal profile] circumitus 2016-12-19 02:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Look at it, just staring emptily with those round lidless eyes, mouth opening and closing with not a useful thing to say. Regardless of Rey's feelings about the fish, she never wished ill of it. It's not the fish's fault that it's so inept to do anything. So Firo's question is met with a bit of misgiving.

"Enough that it's still alive after all this time and not drained down the toilet."

That's where all the unwanted fish of the world go, isn't it?

Firo sighs and rocks his weight between each foot. "What does that mean? Look, I respect you, so I'd rather not kill something you care about, but that fish..."

He looks past her shoulder to the object of his ire. God, just look at that thing. Firo can see its heavy fish lips pulled up in... well, they're kind of just hanging there, but he's sure that's the fish equivalent of a smirk. Fuck that fish.

"...That fish is really pissin' me off, and we've gotta settle this. You understand, right?"

Rey's pretty reasonable; at least, being somewhat rough and tumble herself, she has to understand how respect works on the street. He thinks his meaning is very clear.

[personal profile] circumitus 2016-12-24 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
As flattering as it is to know that she's at least respected, Rey can't help but stare at Firo as if he's just lost his damn mind.

"No, I don't understand." She quirks a brow. "What the hell has this fish ever done to you?"

It isn't like it can leap out of its bowl and kill his family, right?

There's the question. Firo scowls and opens his mouth to describe the fish's immense horribleness to Rey--surely once she hears this, she'll understand.

Except when he actually goes to speak, he can't recall a single thing. Just the fact that it makes him really angry.

"Uh, well, I--See, I'm not exactly sure, but--Uh." He blinks. He nearly thinks about his life choices. "...It's about respect, Rey. Maybe I do't have to kill it, but I can't let it look at me like that and not do something!"

He points at the fish behind her. It's not even facing his direction right now, but he feels the point stands.

"What're you going to do, fight it? It doesn't even have hands to fight with--" She stops herself, shaking her head. "You know what? Never mind."

The more he talks, the more crazy it sounds. Her eyes follow his aim, but she still can't find what the deal is. Other than that the fish is as dumb looking as it's always been, but that's hardly a fault of its own.

Rey glances to Firo for a moment, then turns back to the fish. She picks up the mouth of the fishbowl in one hand and sets it over the coffee table in the living area. When she returns to the window, she leans out and gives him a firm look.

"There. Is that better?"

[personal profile] foundafamily 2016-12-29 02:49 am (UTC)(link)
Firo watches as she removes the fish. Surprisingly, once it's gone, he realizes that he does feel kind of better. His mission may not be fulfilled, but the bulk of the anger is gone.

He nods. "A bit. Thanks."

"Do you really like that thing? Why do you keep it around?"

From what Firo can tell, it's an ill-tempered thing. Why would anyone want it in their home?

[personal profile] circumitus 2016-12-29 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
That doesn't come as much of a surprise. Similarly, it has occurred to Rey that her own irrational anger towards sleep is usually quelled not long after the offending party is conscious (and usually pissed off), so something about Firo's response resonates with her.

Her fingers drum across the bottom of the open windowpane, her mouth tightening at his question. She answers with a shrug.

"Suppose it's because the damned thing is just pitiful. Can't really survive on its own."

Maybe she does feel sort of bad for it and its useless fish body. So what?

[personal profile] foundafamily 2016-12-31 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
"So you take care of it?" He shakes his head, scoffing, but there's just the hint of a smile on his lips. "It's never gonna learn that way, you know."

The smile grows, and he can't resist adding, "You know, you're a lot nicer than you look."
circumitus: I honestly wish I could say that I was surprised. (so you threw a sword at me last night)

[personal profile] circumitus 2016-12-31 09:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Fish don't need to learn, as far as Rey is concerned. Hell, she's pretty sure that there is a reason why the idiom 'memory of a goldfish' exists.

Before she can comment on that, Firo just has to drop the N-word. She just stares at him, half-expecting him to follow up with a derision of some sort. But he doesn't.

"Come on, you can't mean that just because I keep a stupid goldfish around."

No. Maybe it's because there are other contributing factors, Rey.

Firo grins and agrees, "It's not just because you keep a stupid goldfish around. There's other reasons--that's just an example."

He shrugs, holding both hands palms up. Sorry, Rey, this is just how it is. Firo doesn't decide the facts of the universe; he just informs others of them.

Of course, Rey gets what Firo meant. 'Nice' is simply a descriptor that so rarely ever applied to her before, that she can't help but brush it off on immediate instinct.

"Yes, well. I'm only like that to people who I think deserve it."

Even if that also includes dumb-looking useless aquatic craniate animals.

He laughs. "Are you trying to get me to change my mind? 'Cause it's not gonna happen. Just give up."

He's in a much better mood than he was when she first showed up. He's not even really thinking about the fish now.

On the plus side, Rey doesn't have to worry about whether or not Wellingham is going to be served on a silver fishy platter tonight. It just... has to come at her own expense, doesn't it?

"Just don't go spreading that shit around. I've got an image to uphold."

(Not really. Shut up.)

"Sure." He tries his best at a solemn nod, but he can't keep from grinning. "I'll just keep that to myself until I need it for blackmail."
circumitus: ...it got messy. (i did a shot of seamonkeys)

"Don't you dare, Firo Prochainezo."

It's always more serious when you utilize someone's full name, right?
foundafamily: (Default)

[personal profile] foundafamily 2017-01-15 03:46 pm (UTC)(link)
How is he supposed to pretend to be serious like this? He gives up any pretense of stoicism and smiles. "Is that supposed to be a threat, Rey--? ...You know, it doesn't work as well when you've just got one name."
circumitus: I CAN QUIT ANY FUCKING TIME I WANT. (i'm not drunk YOU'RE drunk)

[personal profile] circumitus 2017-01-16 03:09 pm (UTC)(link)
"Sorry for such an inconvenience. Is that why you decided to share your name in that ship world?"

Not that Firo would probably have any idea why. She just recalls Carlisle confusing her for a 'Ms. Prochainezo' once, and Muscovy's story seemed to align with a similar scenario.

[personal profile] foundafamily 2017-01-16 04:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, that. Firo's not sure why he's embarrassed to have it brought up, but he ducks his head to look at the ground instead. He shrugs. "Muscovy said it was because we were family."
circumitus: tall, lanky, uses teeth when giving head, and runs like a giraffe. don't do it, man... (no i know her type)

Rey was sort of messing with him, but Firo's response does make her think.

"It never occurred to me to take a name before. Not even my brother's."

And he was a good family. Better than her father.

Firo nods. Ennis doesn't seem to have thought much about taking one either, though of course Firo knows a last name that is definitely available. It seems like something that simply might not come up on someone's radar.

"What was his?"
