Event Log: Bad End

Warnings: Bad futures, awkward conversations, smashed mirrors

You wake up to find a mirror at your bedside - a pretty nice one, too, a silver hand mirror perfect for fixing your hair in. Only when you try to do that, it's not your gorgeous reflection that you see. It's something else - a terrible future, just about as bad as anything you could imagine for yourself.

Maybe you see your loved ones dead on the ground, and you know it's your fault. Maybe you see the goal you've been working so hard for pulled out of your reach forever. Maybe you see someone you've hurt in the past ruining your life. Maybe you see your hot girlfriend leaving you to shack up with your worst enemy. Whatever you see, it really sucks, and you know that it's possible. This future could happen if you make the wrong choices, give in to your worst impulses.

Break the mirror if you want, but you'll see the same vision in any reflective surface in the city. You can't break them all, but you can sure try. And what will you do when you see your best friend's vision - and it features you betraying them?

Seek reassurance, give reassurance, lash out, vow to yourself that you'll never let it turn out that way, sink into the depths of sorrow because you feel like the future you see is inevitable. Whatever you do, it won't take away those visions - not until the event is over.

[ She wonders what he sees, what possible future they showed him... but doesn't ask. It isn't her business, curious though she might be. ]

[fadeling]

[ No, of course it doesn't. ]

[fadeling]

Maybe I shouldn't. I think the trees feel it too.

[closerift]

[ Naturally. Cecily releases a long, drawn-out exhale, dropping the sword entirely and plopping herself down in the grass. ]

Do you really think that we can stop Solas?

[ Comes the question, and it would seem as if it'd come out of nowhere if they hadn't just seen some dire futures in their mirrors. ]

[He's pretty confused most of the time, but he's even more confused now?]

Why? Is he a wolf now?

[closerift]

A wolf?

[ She looks at him, now sporting a confused frown. ]

What?

I don't know it all.

[closerift]

What does that mean?

[ She steps toward him, now, sword forgotten. ]

What do you know? ... Why did he vanish after we defeated Corypheus?

[fadeling]

He didn't want to say. It was a secret.

[closerift]

Andraste's tits, I don't care what he wanted!

[ She puffs up a bit, but then deflates... though she still appears rattled. ]

I'm sorry, Cole. I know this isn't your fault. But - if you know where Solas went, and why, then - can't you tell me?

[fadeling]

He went away. To be the wolf. He won't let me hear why.

[closerift]

What does "to be the wolf" mean? [ She asks, strained. Maker, she wants to know what he's talking about... but, it's Cole. His way isn't straightforward.

Before her temper can get the better of her, she inhales. Exhales. ]

Why do you keep talking about a wolf?

[fadeling]

There's only one Wolf but he doesn't like to play, dreamed and dreaded. It isn't wise to trick the Trickster.

[closerift]

One-... What, the Dread Wolf?

[ Shit. Her eyes widen in genuine surprise. ]

Are you saying Solas has been a god this entire time?

[fadeling]

Almost. He was too small. But he's getting bigger.

[closerift]

He's gaining power? [ ... Wait. ] Does this have to do with the orb? Corypheus' orb?

[fadeling]

It wasn't his. He tried to make it his but it wasn't.

[closerift]

Whose was it, then? Not Corypheus'...?

[ Maker, this is getting... to be a lot. ]

[fadeling]

The Wolf's.

[closerift]

[ So, it was Solas', or... the Dread Wolf's. He'd wanted it back after Corypheus had taken it.

She exhales. ]

I have a lot to say to that man if we ever see him again.

[fadeling]

He has a lot to say to you too.
