Event Log: Dreamwalker the Second

Who: All characters participating in the event
What: The event log for the Dreamwalker part 2 event
Where: In your dreams
When: October 14th-20th (the second log will go up on Oct 23rd, please keep the two weeks of the event separate!)
Warnings: All different kinds of dreams falling under the umbrella of Delight, Rage, Sorrow, and Hope.

This time, the weird stuff doesn't happen when you're awake- as a matter of fact, your waking hours are the normal ones. That's because you're forced to sleep by some unknown entity, getting more and more exhausted by the moment as night falls. Better make sure you're always around a soft pillow.

Once asleep, it doesn't get any less weird- your dreams will be influenced by one of the four gods that make up the first week. Something to make you smile, something to make you angry- or something that reminds you of your deepest regret or most vulnerable hope, they're all things that you're dreaming about now for some reason, no matter how hard you may try to pull away from them.

To make matters more complicated, there are others intruding on your dreams who definitely don't belong there, and while they may seem like manifestations at first, it becomes clear that these others are actually the consciousness of other members of Hadriel, getting some top quality exposure to your angriest, happiest, most sorrowful moments. Hope it doesn't get awkward when you see them tomorrow...

► This log covers October 14th-20th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well
► Please tag headers of threads with content warnings where they apply
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
► If you die in dreams you don't die in real life, but if you somehow die in real life anyway, please let us know here.

Kain turns to follow her, glad to get away from inside the house, but also not so sure about going back out there. It may not be actually real, but it feels unsettling being here all the same. He feels distinctly like an outsider. He glances around warily, then looks over toward Aren.

"If it's the only way... then it's the only way. I can tell you don't want to stay here any longer than we have to, either. Where can we get that mosswine?"

"The Orzammar Commons, at the merchant stalls. They sell it real cheap, because they know plenty of dusters hate their lives too much to be sober for it. If they can get them addicted, more profit for them."

Yeah, she's bitter. It's a hard life, and all because of a stupid system created far before their time. 'Tradition' has never meant anything good to her.

"This sounds like such a pleasant place. I can't imagine why you would have wanted to leave." Kain is full of sarcasm as he says this in a dark tone. "It's nothing like the underground back home. The dwarves there have a good life. I'm sorry... Go ahead and lead the way."

About the only commonality between this dwarven dwelling and the one back home is that it happens to be underground. That's about it.

"I know, right? It's the perfect place to raise kids." Said as she passes another guard who gives a dirty look for the crime of existing in his eyesight. She pretends it doesn't affect her, only quickens her pace toward the commons. Even when they leave, the unmistakable scent of Dust Town lingers, to her.

"So, none of this stupid caste business? Or being the last of a crumbling empire eaten up by darkspawn?"

Kain scowls and gives the guard his own dirty look in return, but knowing well enough to keep any commentary to himself. He may have his reckless moments, but he's far from a complete fool. He shakes his head as they walk along. Still, he grumbles to himself well after they've gone by that guard, "Lali-ho my ass."

"Nothing like that. Or at least... not this terrible. They have a castle and king, and all of that, but... I didn't see the same division as you have here. They have a very impressive forge, too."

"And they don't kick out anyone for going to the surface?" That idea is still fresh and weird to her mind, given how much of a taboo that is in Orzammar. Though for a casteless, it means much less. They have nowhere to go but up, but it's also a matter of being hale and wealthy enough to leave in the first place. She stares at the bottles of mosswine at the shopkeep's counter, sighing.

"Rica would hate this, say I'm enabling her. She's not wrong, but...I just want this to end. I left this shit behind, dammit."

"No. They didn't kick them out. It's not often they care to venture to the surface, though they don't seem to have any rules about it. It's just a difficult journey to make, past all of that lava. You need a ship coated in specialized materials to even make it." It certainly might be strange to see dwarves wandering around on the surface, but probably less unheard of since they'd ended up down there. The king had seemed interested in the surface anyway.

He nods agreement about that mosswine. "It's for the best in the short term. I'd say... worry about the long run later." Besides, this... may not be real at all, right? He's not completely sure, and has a hard time even trying to speculate. Hadriel can be so weird.
