Who: Tucker, Wash and Kyna
What: A most likely awkward meet and greet.
Where: Kyna's apartment
When: 10/14, during the day
Warnings: None yet!
[It's a weird day. Kyna can't exactly pinpoint why, other than the fact that she's tired in that drowsy, heavy-limbed way that not even an embarrassing amount of coffee wants to touch. She's flopped on the couch, feet propped up on the armrest, and she lets out a dramatic sigh, grabbing a pillow and covering her face with it.]
God, I'm gonna die.
[She gets whiny when she's bored. Who knew?]

[ Wash stands at the end of the couch with his helmet tucked under his arm -- it's off, at least, he wasn't going to walk over here in civvies. There's a vaguely amused expression on his face as he taps her feet to get her to lift her legs. She can put them down across his lap if she wants. . ]
I sure hope you didn't call me for entertainment.
no subject
Yeah, I did, but I guess you're gonna remind me of my own mortality or whatever instead.
no subject
I'm sure you've got a couple decades left...
no subject
Half-elves live a long time.
[And considering all of her friends back home are human, save Tucker, it's not something she likes to think about very often.]
no subject
no subject
He lets himself in and starts talking on his way to the living room.]
Hey K, I found potato chips. I don't remember, do you even like barbecue? Whatever, those ones are mine anyway-
[Who the fuck??? He stops short when he notices some guy in huge armor just chillin' on the couch under Kyna's legs.]
Am I interrupting something?
no subject
No, God. Wait, are they like, hippie granola bullshit chips or are you gonna get hives?
no subject
He's definitely on guard now, though, tense and wary as his eyes dart between the two of them. ]
...Kyna?
no subject
Settle down soldier boy, we're teammates. [That clears it up, right?]
And no I'm not gonna get hives, fuck off. Who's this?
no subject
Uh, yeah. This is Tucker. Tucker, Wash.
no subject
He stands up, extending an armored hand to Tucker to shake. ]
bork bork bork
You new here? Don't think I've seen you around.
[And you are awfully close with his friend here already. What's up with that?]
smh
I'm taking the barbecue ones.
Re: smh
I've been here four days.
[ And he's gotten into lots of trouble in that time. 8'D But Tucker doesn't need to know that.
Tucker.
Shit, he misses that asshole. ]
...it was nice to meet you.
[ Because he's going to reach for his helmet and flee now, that Kyna has other company. ]
no subject
What? No you're not. [He snatches his hand away and holds them up out of her reach.] Those are mine, weren't you paying attention?
[He's tempted to let Wash leave so he can interrogate Kyna about him, but ugh he also doesn't want to make things weird.]
You leavin' already? But I brought chips. It's a party.
no subject
Yeah, you don't have to go. It's just Tucker.
no subject
So are you part elf too?
no subject
[Does he look half-elf??? Maybe they don't have elves where this dude's from. Which is insane, but whatever.]
I'm not part anything.
[He's just all non-human, but that's need-to-know.
Tucker tosses the plain chips at Kyna and plops down on the couch.]
no subject
[Maybe joking will put Wash more at ease? Kyna sits down too, right in the middle of the couch, and rips open the bag of chips. She looks a little disappointed in them.]
But, uh, yeah. My ears are because I'm half-elf.
no subject
Seeing Kyna intentionally left him the corner spot, Wash sits back down -- still stiff, still watching Tucker, but it helps that Kyna's between them. ]
You have magic too, though? Kyna said you guys work together dealing with that sort of thing.
no subject
Nope, no magic. I mean I have magic stuff? But I don't actually cast spells. Not my department.
[He opens the other bag and frowns in at the chips. He mostly nabbed them because they reminded him of home, but he hasn't actually eaten junk food in a while.]
My department is the department of guns. Bullets are faster than spells anyway.
no subject
[She offers the bag of chips to Wash, then glances over at Tucker and nudges him with an elbow.]
Think you can handle all that processed crap?
no subject
[ Kyna offers him the chips and Wash blinks, then reaches in and takes a few. He doesn't remember the last time he had chips, actually. ]
Thanks.
SORRY I SUCK
[An overstatement, perhaps. Or is it? And just to prove Kyna wrong, he shoves two whole chips in his mouth at once.]
You're probably a bit more experienced in the gun division, all things considered.
[The whole like, armor/soldier thing he's got goin' on.]
NO SHH
Tucker misses a lot.
SORRY FOR LATE
I could give you some pointers, if you want. I oversaw the military training on Chorus... no way you're as bad as some of those recruits.
no subject
I don't miss a lot. It's just really hard to hit shit that's moving around while you're also moving around. Or shit that's invisible.
[Which is totally cheating.]
There a shooting range around here though? I guess I could use the practice.

[He shrugs.]

Cans are easier, sure, but paper will show your groupings. Give you a better idea of what you need to work on.
i didn't miss wash's tag leave me alone
Hey.
[She elbows Tucker in the side.]
He's being nice. Don't get all weird about it.
no subject
What? I'm not being mean. I'm just saying. [He turns to Wash specifically.] Fine, so K doesn't think I'm being an asshole: I appreciate the concern, but I'd be fine.
And you're right about the paper but I don't know where to find any.
no subject
I've got some. I can set up targets if you ever want to practice.
[ Kyna gets a tiny nudge. ]
You too.
no subject
[She sounds super incredulous.]
no subject
K's about as likely to start shooting guns as I am to go into those tunnels without being paid to.
no subject
Offer's still open. It's always good to have separate skill sets.
How does battle fatigue work with magic, anyway?
