Event Log: End of Arc 2

Who: All characters
What: The event log for the End of Arc 2
Where: All over the city
When: November 25th-December 12th
Warnings: A full-scale battle, including character death, NPC death, and various other ways to suffer

It was bound to happen. The Null warned you, after all, and this has been building for awhile - and now it's here. First comes the initial attack, the agents of the Null attacking Hope's temple. Then, an SOS, warning the city of what's happened: a betrayal, and Hope being injured. Luckily for everyone, thanks to the actions of his guards Hope survives the attack. Unluckily, his attacker, the goddess Delight, escapes and lets the Null in.

Flooding into the cave, the Null will attack anyone who they believe is resisting them. They'll destroy buildings and deploy dangerous crowd control weapons, in addition to their sheer strength and speed. Confusion empties the monsters in the tunnels into the city, to help distract the Null. Some gods fight, others provide safe havens, but everyone is in danger.

After about a week and a half of the attack, Fear summons enough power to teleport the city. This stops any new Null from arriving through the tunnels, but the remaining Null must be hunted down and destroyed, or else they'll signal their location to the rest of their species. The danger will lessen as Null are taken out, but things won't really be safe until Fear moves the city again, so don't get too comfortable.

What will you do? Run and hide? Fight? Help the fighters? Turn on the gods yourself? Whatever you do, it's time to make a decision.

Curufin guesses as much, and he is good with that. He gets along well with others who have moral failings. There's a sort of. . . pleasant recognition in that.

"All over the streets as well as all over the network! Keeps us all busy either arguing with the fuckers or smashing their guts in person. Yes, that does make it hard to keep track of one's friends and relatives, doesn't it?"

"Oh, by the way. . . your sister won the contest." He grins.

Taako barks out a laugh, throwing a smug grin back towards Curufin. “Yeah, duh. Dunno what kinda elf world you come from, but we’re the tops in any plane, natch.”

Frankly, neither of them care much about their heritage- they didn’t grow up in any kind of community of their own kind. But any foot up he can get, he’ll take, whether it’s necessary or not. “She can also, like, immolate an entire block in like three seconds, so. She’s really only second to me.”

"I'll tell you about the Elf world I come from someday, if you're interested." He is still grinning. He thinks it's funny that Lup beat him in the Null-decimating contest.

"She can, huh? How many blocks can you immolate?" He glances sideways, and then winks at Taako. ". . . Because you're about to have an opportunity to demonstrate."

Another wave of Null is swarming out from between the buildings, coming straight for the two Elves.

He's prepared for another sarcastic remark about elf worlds, but one of his ears flicks the direction Curufin looks, and his eyes travel over in turn. Alright, guess it's time for round... well, he's entirely lost count. A grin splits out over Taako's face, raising the Umbra Staff in front of him.

"I don't really do all that? Not my specialty. Besides, what I've got is just so, so much better." His eyes scan over the ground, and he knows exactly what he wants to do. There are Null bodies everywhere, many just with their processors damaged, and in moments, three of them begin to creak to life, raising themselves from the ground even with their shattered processors. Taako's face still looks more smug than ever, and as he swings the Umbra Staff forward, they charge the oncoming Null, weapons drawn.

"Go get 'em, boys." He chuckles, as if he just does this every day. "This is gonna look great."

"So Lup is the immolator, and you're the . . . uh. . . re-animator?" He grins, and then laughs aloud and claps his hands as the wrecked Null bodies get up and attack their former cohorts.

The Umbra Staff is apparently the conductor's wand for an orchestra of destruction.

Well, Curufin will play in that concerto! His rifle cracks and some of the Null fall before their former comrades can reach them.

And others fall as the re-animated Null point their weapons and fire. The undamaged Null fire back, and the electrical or plasma fire goes zinging in both directions.

"Listen my dude, this is just one item in the Taako repertoire. Transmutation magic is waaaay more versatile, if you know what I mean." He gives Curufin a little wink, as if that translates well to anything at all.

He sidesteps a bit of debris easily, spinning around on his heel to orchestrate another animated Null to slam through the processor of it's live counterpart. "Honestly, this stuff is almost too easy. Sucks for the Null they thought we were some weak shit, but great for us."

It translates well enough! They both like to kill these killer robots, and Transmutation magic is very versatile indeed, as compared to a sword or a gun.

Curufin grins. "Feel free to demonstrate whatever you've got! I hope they feel really, really stupid! -- they certainly did underestimate us. And now we're piling them up for scrap." Wicked chuckle. "I'm looking forward to hauling them away and melting them down."
pocketspa: (« [Smug] I don't think that was gogurt..)

As far as he's concerned, that's one of the better things Curufin has said. He's willing and eager to do the hard work, which Taako's fond of, but the elf still gets to show off in battle. Besides, it's better for him to have someone with a little physical strength watching his back.

Since that spell doesn't require sustaining, he can let the Null rip each other apart, sending out a few Magic Missile bullets to any other one that begins to come close. "You thinkin' of making anything fun? Like, not swords and shit, fun stuff."

Curufin is perfectly fine with being Taako's backup. That's not usually his style, but he's willing to take that role in order to learn something new, or in order to let somebody else shine for a while.

He snickers again to see the Null tearing their own comrades apart.

"I'd do it if I had that kind of magic. My power is mostly translated through my blade." He draws the said blade and lifts it high. It suddenly crackles with blue-white light, like lightening or St. Elmo's Fire. "This fire of the spirit enhances the force of my blows, but I can't generally use it at a distance."

And he admires the Magic Missile bullets as they smack into the few, stupid Null who approach.

Sorry, Curufin. Everyone is backup to Taako if he has anything to say about it. Nothing personal.

He does let out a low whistle as his blade lights up, pausing in holding his staff for a bit to give a little golf clap. "Nice light show, my dude. Requires getting all up in their business, though. You ever thought about uh, pulling a little fantasy Thor bullshit and calling down lighting on top of you or something? Bet you could shoot it if you wanted to figure it out ranged."
