Now, she's grown. Somewhat. Maybe. She's learned more about powers and how they work. Learning about powers from other worlds is another learning curve entirely, it's true. But she's not giving up. She can't. She spent years all but given up on things, only fighting through life because she had to for Marc. She spent years saying fine, whatever and trying to keep her heart safe by blocking everything out.
If they'd given up back home, things would be so much different. If she hadn't let Faith's optimism and hope convince her, who knows where she'd be?
Kate's pretty sure she wouldn't have her current job, sure she'd be so much worse off.
And the most important thing of it all? She doesn't want to simply keep her heart safe, but keep the people closest to it safe. )
