Event Log: Dust to Dust

Who: All characters participating in the event
What: The event log for the Dust to Dust event
Where: All over the city!
When: January 14th-17th
Warnings: A big ol' mess.

It starts off small: the wind picks up, particles of sand and dirt and dust begin to fill the air. You might not even notice at first, not until you have to wipe the dust off your windows to see outside. After all, it's been a long time since Hadriel has experienced weather, and it's never experienced a weather event not caused by the gods before.

But the gods aren't in charge of the weather now, and even if they could prevent this dust storm, they have way too many other things to do. So it's up to you to deal with it, and as the wind rises and the dust storm moves into the city, there'll be plenty to deal with.

Once the storm is at its peak, it'll be almost impossible to see outside - and it won't be safe to go wandering, either. Entirely besides falling and hurting yourself, if you aren't wrapped up well enough the particles in the air will abrade your skin. Love that sandpaper feel! Oh, and breathing? Yeah, better make sure your nose and mouth are covered, or else they'll be full of sand, too. Hope you've got some goggles stashed away to protect your eyes. Luckily, it won't last too long - 'cause you'll have plenty of cleaning to do once the storm is over.

( akira had taken shelter in the same building a bit surprise when someone covered head to toe in armour comes in. his head tilts with interest, mind going all sorts of places... )

Another one bites the dust, huh?

[The sound of the storm is still raging outside, and Kai continues to shake off a bunch of sand. It's rough, and coarse and has gotten everywhere.]

Or something like that. [He frowns, glancing back outside.] Is this supposed to happen, or are the gods playing some game with us?

Hmm. ( he seems to be considering the question...
winding up with nothing more than a shrug. )

Who knows? Even where I'm from, the weather reports are only right half of the time.

( akira pinches at his chin, thinking further about this poor guy... ) I'm not sure your gear is ideally suited for the sudden change.

If these gods are so all-powerful, I can only assume that such power extends to the weather... but who knows? It's not as if we've had 'weather' ever before.

[Oddly, he's kind of grateful to be experiencing actual weather, a welcome change from the monotony of cave walls. He sighs, shaking his head.]

Suited or not, it's mine and it holds strong importance for me. I'll not trade it for anything else.

That's true. ( it's a good observation at least. in a way, akira was missing the normalcy of events like 'weather' in the caves. though really, kicking things off with scorching heat and sandstorm isn't how he imagined his triumphant return to the surface world.

but the defensiveness of kain's words as him holding up his hands. sorry dude, he meant no offense against your fashion choices. only that— ) It must keep the sand in all the wrong places, though.

[It's definitely a relief to see the sky... even though this situation will definitely take some getting used to. He shakes some more sand out, finding that it just keeps coming somehow. What a nuisance...]

Apparently so. [He makes a face, watching the sand stream out.] I think I'll be fine as long as I make it a point not to get stuck in too many sandstorms. Let's hope this won't be too regular of an occurrence, anyway...

( he's watching that stream of sand and dust... maybe a bit impressed by how much is coming out of it. it also meant that kain had probably been out there awhile, or... that the storm was really a nightmare. )

Travel through deserts often? ( it's a sarcastic remark, but his face seems so plain when he says it, it might have you guessing... )

[A little of both of those things really. It had surprised him with its intensity. He stares at him after that question, frowning lightly, definitely taking it as sarcasm.]

Must you? [Sigh.] I can't say it's my favorite environment, but I'll take this over that cave. Even with the sandstorms.
