It starts off small: the wind picks up, particles of sand and dirt and dust begin to fill the air. You might not even notice at first, not until you have to wipe the dust off your windows to see outside. After all, it's been a long time since Hadriel has experienced weather, and it's never experienced a weather event not caused by the gods before.
But the gods aren't in charge of the weather now, and even if they could prevent this dust storm, they have way too many other things to do. So it's up to you to deal with it, and as the wind rises and the dust storm moves into the city, there'll be plenty to deal with.
Once the storm is at its peak, it'll be almost impossible to see outside - and it won't be safe to go wandering, either. Entirely besides falling and hurting yourself, if you aren't wrapped up well enough the particles in the air will abrade your skin. Love that sandpaper feel! Oh, and breathing? Yeah, better make sure your nose and mouth are covered, or else they'll be full of sand, too. Hope you've got some goggles stashed away to protect your eyes. Luckily, it won't last too long - 'cause you'll have plenty of cleaning to do once the storm is over.► This log covers January 14th-17th.

[ Alana moves the bottle back a bit, not having really considered that possibility. Still, taking out grains of sad and dust from your eye by hand seems a little unnecessary. ]
Have you been through this before?

But weird shit happening here? Definitely. I'm not going to take it for granted that this is just normal weather.

It got so bad so fast. Do you think it'll last long?

[A few more blinks, and thinks are starting to feel much better. She huffs out a sigh and folds her arms, frowning out of the nearest window.]
I guess... at least I didn't nearly fall through the ceiling on top of you this time, right?

[ She goes silent for a few seconds, just watching the dust and sand and grit bat against the window, building walls, anything else outside, thing's she's starting to lose sight of in their location.
This sure is happening. She isn't even sure how she feels about it. Annoyed? Worried? Sure. Angry that it looks like she can't go out and explore and look for answers for the time being.
Not that she's been getting literally anywhere with that, but-- that's not the point. It's wasted time, and she hates it. ]
How are your eyes?

[The worst of it is over with, and she can see without having to paw at them. Looking for the best in the situation only produced a lame joke that she wished he hadn't said (nearly falling through the floor had not been her most graceful moment), and she bites her lower lip as she peers through the window.]
So weird. It just came out of nowhere. You usually see these things coming, right?
no subject
At least in the distance. Or something more gradual than whatever the hell this is.
Doesn't feel right...
Not that I'd know, though.

Do you think it's them? Trying to psych us out?
no subject
Probably.
But why? What's the point?
[ A random show of power to keep people quiet? That's all that comes to mind right now. ]
no subject
[Ugh, it sounds so gross when she puts it like that.]
Maybe that's what it's for.
no subject
Ugh.
[ She turns around, tired of looking out at the sand. Frustrated. Weeks of nothing and now shes literally stuck inside, not even in the house she claimed for herself.
It's really irritating, feeling this helpless. She tries to drive the thought away by looking at the shelves behind the counter.
It doesn't help.]
Think there's enough in here for a few days. Maybe we can find something that can cover us if we have to go out thereand don't feel like getting exfoliated to death.
no subject
Yeah, maybe. I mean... we don't have to worry about it right now.
[Coming from the kind of person who would just run out there if she thought she could save someone while doing it.]
What supplies do we have?
