By now, the gods have probably done enough weird crap to you while you're asleep for you to be a little suspicious- but it's not like you can just not sleep, especially when there are a few supernatural forces making your eyes droopy and your body feel heavy.

And now, when you fall asleep, you'll wake up somewhere else and you'll likely have quite a different temperament- you'll be younger, maybe a little more naive and innocent, and you won't exactly remember all the wild stuff that's happened to your adult self. Maybe now you'll be a little more trusting and emotional, hm? The gods could definitely use a little boost in power, and what better way to do it than to harness the power of overemotional kiddos!

Or maybe you aren't affected at all and find yourself surrounded by youths. What are you going to do when your best friend doesn't know how to cook for themselves? Or your bitter rival is throwing a temper tantrum because they broke their favorite toy? Nobody asked for this kind of responsibility, but think about what would happen if nobody was around to take care of these babies...

[Abigail gives him a smile and sticks out her hand for him to shake]

I'm Abigail.

[ He bows over her hand and kisses it, remembering his manners, but then bounces up and claps his hands ]

Abigail! You have a very pretty name! Can Cano stay with you for a bit?

You're a little gentleman.

[Men back home never kissed a woman's hand. Hannibal might have, but that was it. Abigail giggles at his enthusiasm.]

Thank you. I like your name too. It's unique.

[At least in her experience. There weren't many Canos in rural Minnesota.]

Yes, you can. I'd like that. Do you know any good games?

[ He beams, clearly pleased to be told that ]

Cano tries to mind his manners!

What does Abigail like to play? Cano can play catch-me, or hide and seek?

[Abigail thinks back to the games she played a a child. Inspired by father, many of them involved guns - water guns, paintball, laser tag. But there were others that were simply easy to play when her family had little money.]

I know hide and seek. Is catch-me like tag?

[ He considers the word ]

In tag does you run and chase people? Then yes!

Yeah, you run and chase them. When you catch them, you tag them like this.

[She touches his arm gently.]

And then they're it and they chase you.

Yes! [ He claps his hands ]

Cano only knows to call it catch-me - tag is a good name! Does Lady Abigail want to be it?

[Abigail smiles at his excitement. It's sweet to see such an innocent child]

Okay! I'll give you a head start.

Count to five!

[ He grins and bounces, before taking off with a laugh ]

One...Two...Three...Four...Five!

[Abigail chases after him, not going at her full speed to make it more fun for him.]

[ He shrieks with laughter as she comes after him, diving into a bush to try and hide ]

Can't catch me!

[am_i_a_monster]

[Abigail speeds up a little and pretends to be confused as she approaches the bush.]

Hmmm...where could you be??

[childofthemusic]

[ The bush shakes, as he claps his hand over his mouth trying to contain his giggles.

She can't see him, right? ]

[am_i_a_monster]

[Abigail runs away and then sneaks up behind the bush, gently tapping his shoulder]

Tag, you're it!

[childofthemusic]

[ He spins around and falls over with a startled squeak and a laugh ]

My turn to count! [ He agrees and obligingly screws his eyes shut tight ]

One... twwwwwo....threefourfive!

[Abigail runs off at a slow pace, speeding up and giggling when he speeds up the count.]

I think you rushed four and five!

"I sees you!"

He sets of after her with an excited crow.

"Should Cano count again?"

[am_i_a_monster]

Nah, just see if you can catch me.

[Abigail keeps running at a fast pace, but not quite her full speed, wanting to keep it fair for the kid]

[childofthemusic]

Gonna catch you!

[ He cheers, tearing off after her as fast as he can ]

[am_i_a_monster]

Well, c'mon then!

[Abigail grins and runs behind a building.]

[childofthemusic]

[ He gasps as she runs around the building and determindely speeds up, tripping into a tumble in his haste, only to pop back up the way young kids often do ]

Abigail? [ He looks to see where she's gone ]

[am_i_a_monster]

[Abigail peeks out from behind the building]

Boo!

[She waits a second to give him a chance to get closer, then starts running again.]

[ He eeps in surprise and laughs ]

Found you! [ He carols and takes off after her again ]

[Abigail giggles and keeps running, turning back towards the spot they met in case his cousin returns and slowing to a pace where Cano can catch her.]
