[CLOSED]
Who: Julie & Delmar
What: Julie doesn't really have any girl friends, but she has a gay guy friend who definitely needs a boost, and she is Here For It.
Where: Delmar's place
When: End of January-ish
Warnings: None!
---
Delmar? Open up, it's Julie!
[She knocks on the door a second time, rocking back and forth on her heels as she hovers in the doorway. One hand holds a paper bag and a bottle of wine, and the other taps a staccato beat against her thigh while she waits for Delmar to answer.
He might want to hide away, at the moment, but she isn't giving him any opportunity to do so. She's spent the last half day wandering around as a child version of herself, she needs a break, and Delmar is always such good company that he is the first person to come to mind.]
Delmar, come on, it's really hot out here, and I even put on jeans and a sweater so you wouldn't be embarrassed by me.
[(She did not, in fact, put on jeans and a sweater.)]

Just a minute!
[He calls from his bedroom but likely not loud enough to be heard through the door. He fusses a bit, now feeling rushed in trying to pick what shirt to wear and hating the thought of keeping someone waiting. When Julie calls out to him he panics, not wanting to leave her outside so instead he grabs his blanket, wraps its around his upper half, and hurries to the door in his blanket and trousers, not even stopping for his slippers]
Julie?
[He fumbles with the door before tugging it open and, despite his unkempt hair and awkward state of dress, he greets her with a warm smile]
Hello there.
no subject
[She wiggles the fingers of her free hand at him, then lifts up the bottle of wine with a grin. Not as much as a second look is given to either his state of undress or his generally unkempt appearance, given that she isn't bothered by either.]
I brought wine. [Obviously.] I don't know if it's any good, but we can find out. Can I come in?
no subject
[He waves her inside excitedly before closing the door, he then lightly pats her shoulder. It would normally be a hug but he's worried about dropping the blanket. Even if he logically knows that Julie wouldn't care, he's not yet learned to be comfortable wit that kind of vulnerability yet.]
It's so very nice to see you.
[Then he frowns playfully]
Now, Miss Julie, are you old enough to drink?
[His eyes sparkle mischievously]
no subject
[But she didn't think he'd mind. She walks in like she owns the place - nothing like the first time she walked into this apartment in the hope of tea and cake - and sets the wine down on the table.]
No drinking age in the zombie apocalypse, Del. [She tells him with a wink, planting the bag she brought down next to the bottle.]
Don't think Hadriel has one either, and my dad's not here to tell me I can't.
no subject
Oh don't you apologize. You never have to apologize for a visit
[Delmar means that too. Never in his life has he been so fortunate as to have friends who'd just like to surprise him this way. Who'd just want his company. He's not about to take that for granted now.]
But if you'll please excuse me a moment I'm just going finish getting dressed. You go ahead and make yourself at home.
[And he shuffles off back to his bedroom, the end of the blanket trailing behind him]

When he comes back he'll find her sitting there with the bottle of wine still unopened, but the smaller bag emptied. In front of her are several small bottles of coloured nail polish, and she grins at him.]
What colour do you want? You can do mine first.
no subject
What's this?
[He moves to sit next to her, peering with owl-eyes down at the little row of bottles. He reaches out to pick one up, letting it roll on his palm before flushing a soft pink.
He leans in closer to whisper shyly]
I couldn't possibly wear this, could I?
no subject
[She shrugs one shoulder and grins at him, picking up one of the bottles - a lilac-purple with sparkles in.]
I think I like this one.
[As she looks at him, her expression softens, and she reaches up to pat his arm.]
It's okay, you can take it off after. Let's just have some fun.
no subject
It will go away.
With a shy glance at her he reaches for another bottle, a wine red. He holds it up between the tips of two fingers, looking at her with a hopeful arch of his silver brows]
This one.
no subject
[She taps her hands against her knees and smiles again, just as brightly as the first time.]
You've got some wine glasses, right? Or cups. I'm not fussy as long as it doesn't leak.
no subject
Wine glasses? Lets see...I know I have something that will do...
[Delmar makes his way back to the kitchen and proceeds to start poking through cupboards, fingers dancing over plates and bowls until he finds what he's looking for]
Well I have these! I thought they were fun
[He holds up two glasses sporting bright psychedelic floral patterns and heads back to Julie]
no subject
[She grabs one the moment he brings them close enough, and examines it with a look of utter glee on her face.] Where did you find these?!
[Julie want some. She needs some. They're amazing.]
no subject
[He drops back onto the couch, setting one of the glasses in front of her]
They sort of remind me of home.
[Then hurriedly he adds]
B-but in a good way. All the new prints and colors the young people were wearing back home were-- oh well you'd have to see them. But they were very nice. All their pinks and yellows and large buttons and small hats...
no subject
[Of all things to notice, she noticed the mention of small hats. Post-zombie-apocalypse fashion didn't really leave much to creativity (you wore what you could get your hands on until it was more holes than clothes), but she could still remember what it was like to be able to go to the store and choose what she wanted to wear.
She pours the wine out, then lifts up one glass to him.]
Cheers.
no subject
[He explains as he takes the glass, peering down into it curiously before reciprocating, lightly bumping his glass into hers]
Cheers, Julie.
no subject
Mm- Okay, you first. Gimme your hand.
no subject
Have you ever done this on a man before?
[Delmar's not entirely sure what angle to hold his hand at that will be best for her so it sort of hesitates midair]
no subject
I got Perry to let me paint his nails once. [She hums as she unfastens the varnish and pulls the top off, carefully smoothing the excess off the little brush inside.]
Blue. He kept it on for a week.
no subject
Did you let him paint yours?
no subject
Yeah, but he was terrible at it. [But still, she smiles fondly at the memory.]
I had him do mine in black. I was such an edgy kid.
no subject
[That's not a phrase he's familiar with]
I think you must have been a very wonderful child.
no subject
God, no, I wasn't. Maybe, before mom left, and everything really went to shit. I was the kind of teenager that gives most parents nightmares.
