Event Log: Flu Season

Who: All characters
What: The event log for the Flu Season event
Where: All over the city
When: March 20th-March 30th
Warnings: Gross sneezing, sick people, and paranoia

It starts with a cough, a sneeze, a sore throat - something small and simple, easily ignored. But then your symptoms get worse. It's probably been awhile since you've been sick, that sort of thing doesn't usually happen here. You might be able to raid the shops for some tissues and tea before it gets too bad, and hopefully you've got a friend to help out until you get better. Surely it'll be over soon, right?

Until the fever sets in, and you start to understand why your friend is really there. They don't want to take care of you. They want to make sure this is the last anyone will ever see of you. They want to learn all your secrets. They want to steal your most precious possession. You know they're plotting against you, you know they're keeping something from you. What will you do to find out what it is?

Then, as the sickness fades, you realize it was all in your mind. Let's hope you didn't do or say anything too awful. But that friend of yours... they seem to have picked up your cough. Maybe you should help them out?

► This log covers March 20th-March 30th.
► Feel free to make your own logs, as well
► Please tag headers of threads with content warnings where they apply
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
► If your paranoia ends in murder, please let us know here.

[As soon as Aloy realized that this was more of an epidemic than a simple sickness being passed along, she started avoiding the city centers altogether. That would be the logical reason why she hasn't seen Nil, but he hasn't answered any of her messages, either, and she couldn't help but get worried. Of course she goes looking, and of course, things are worse than she expects.

She almost doesn't recognize him without his headdress, and when she does, she's shocked at how oddly... vulnerable he looks. The knife makes him seem less so.]

Nil? What are you talking about?

[It's a mystery how he caught it at all, given his lack of propensity towards mingling with large groups of strangers, or venturing into the centre of the city at all. The reason behind Aloy's messages going unanswered could have been as simple as him not paying attention to the phone - as he's wont to do - but he has been getting into the habit of checking for writing on the thing... at least from a select number of people.

When he hears her voice, his fingers twitch around the knife. First, a tightening, then a slackening of his grip around the hilt. His mind races - tries to reason that this, of all people, is surely one he could lend trust to.
]

Sunstone Rock. [He says, and he shifts back from his perching stance to a seated position.] I'll not go. You'd not think to try to take me back there, would you, Aloy.

[Sunstone Rock? She shakes her head, brow furrowing. What is he talking about? Where is this even coming from? He still has the knife, so Aloy keeps her distance, holding her hands up placatingly.]

Nil. [Aloy's voice is low and quiet, almost gentle.] Do you know where we are?

[The question jogs something that her presence alone did not. How brow furrows, eyes squeezing shut for a moment and he shakes his head slightly, prompting a small grunt of discomfort.]

I'm--... [He blinks like he's trying to clear spots away from his vision and slowly, his hand moves away from his knife without drawing it.]

I'm not, ah... [Wincing, he presses the heel of his hand to his forehead.] My head feels as if it's breaking open.
