Event log: How Delightful

Who: Anyone and everyone!
What: Delight's resurrection.
Where: Throughout the city, starting in the bar.
When: March 23rd-April 3rd
Warnings: Partying too hard, poor life choices, underage drinking, the worst hangovers of all time.

On the morning of March 23rd, bright and early, Delight is resurrected. Her temple is restored, and her bar appears in the city. What does that mean? Well, obviously it's time to celebrate. We hope everyone brought their party shoes! From March 23rd to March 27th, the party will be mostly contained in and around Delight's bar, with an invitation from the goddess herself. But it won't be long before she decides that's just not good enough - gotta bring the party to the people! From March 28th to April 3rd, the natural light is dimmed and replaced with flashing colored lights, fireworks, and even a few disco balls. Loud music blares through the city, making it hard to sleep, and a wide variety of trouble is available to be gotten into.

Wanna drink away the pain of being trapped in a hellcave? There's unlimited amounts of alcohol of all kinds, and Delight will be happy to supply anything that might be missing. More interested in karaoke-ing your heart out? Hit up one of the jukeboxes. Enjoy gleeful displays of your own mortality? Here's a skateboard and a ramp, have fun. There's just about anything you could desire, as long as what you desire is to party hard and make bad decisions. And hey, if you find yourself getting tired, grab one (or five) of Delight's special energy shots. They'll eliminate your need for sleep, food, water, cure an oncoming hangover and immediately relax any sore muscles you've got for 24 hours per shot! There's no down side! (Except for all the effects coming back to hit you at once when the shot wears off, but whatever.)

After about a week and a half of tequila shots, keg stands, roman candle battles, tagging the city with free spraypaint, inappropriate party games, and balloon hats made to look like rocket ships (wait... that's not a rocket ship), Delight realizes everyone's partied out and starts to wind things down. On April 3rd, she'll clean up the city, removing everything except for a few remaining fireworks and disco balls, stored in her temple. Her bar will still be around, if you can stand to even look at liquor after all the poor choices you made. Otherwise, lay in bed and try to recover from your hangover while the city goes back to normal.

(Definitely a little bit. Newt was the kind of person who when he had his mind stuck on something, there was usually no stopping him.

Oh Firo, you're shit out of luck with Newt. There's a lot of things he doesn't get and he'll probably have to explain that too.)

Dunno what Prohibition is either, mate. 'Cause we had this one kid who made it himself with whatever he could find.

(Which, by the way, made it really, really shitty. He waves his hand at the guy.)

Wouldn't bother trying to poke me about questions. I've got no memories up in here. I don't know much about anything at all, so.

(A nice big shrug because he really actually doesn't feel all that salty about this fact.)

I literally just learned about vodka a couple weeks ago.

It sounds like pruno--that's what guys make in prison.

[He figures he should just go ahead and explain that term.]

Prohibition's when they banned alcohol. Just repealed it last year.

[That's kind of commonplace to him, though, definitely not as interesting as memory loss.]

You've got no memories at all? So, what, did you just wake up here one day?

[Should he be thankful the same thing didn't happen to him? He hasn't heard anyone else mention something like that.]

(Again, Newt shrugs. Though he's not indifferent to what he's being told. He files away the word 'pruno' for later use. Peter had called the stuff 'moonshine'.)

Why'd they ban alcohol?

(He doesn't even bother to ask 'who'. He knows enough about how governments work now to figure it out.)

No, not here. Back in my world, I was with a lot of boys who were all dumped into this maze and none of us had our memories except what names we were given. The only things I remember are the past three years of my life and whatever's happened here.

(He doesn't seem too bothered to share this information. And he's not. It's a fact about him and it doesn't matter to him. It's only frustrating when he feels like he's in the dark with knowledge.)

Who knows. They thought it'd stop crime or something, but it didn't really work out that way.

[He smirks at that, being a proud member of the crime wave that rose due to Prohibition.

Now it's his turn to ask. As stupid as he thinks Prohibition is, this kid is definitely winning when it comes to sheer oddness of topic.]

Why the hell--?

[He shakes his head.]

I'm gonna guess you don't know why? That sounds pretty fucked up. What's the point of doin' something like that to people? Power trip?

I don't think legal systems usually work out as well as they hope them to.

(Not that he knew particularly well. It just seemed to him like adults were all over the place on the things they did.

Yeeeeah yup that's...Yeah. Common enough for Newt by now.)

Oh, no. I know why. We were apart of a large experiment to try and find the cure for this disease. Although that's a huge crock if you ask me.

(He shakes his head and gives a bit of a shrug.)

I think maybe it started out with good intention but then everything went to hell and they went about it completely wrong.

You'd be right about that.

[All Firo knows about diseases he learned from personal experience in the slums and from Szilard's weird memories. So he's no expert, but he's pretty confident in his response:]

That's just stupid. How's puttin' people in a maze cure a disease? All you'd get are people bangin' their heads against the walls tryin' to get out.

[His brain already hurts. Why didn't he just leave this guy alone to enjoy his excessive amount of shots?]

Uhhh it doesn't.

(Newt scoffs because it's not like he can blame the guy for his bafflement.)

The disease is triggered by brain activity and they had kids with it and kids immune to it so they could compare brain waves to see what certain elements might trigger it to become active or what the bloody hell ever.

(He so did not come out to drink to talk about his life, honestly. Newt lifts his hand up to get the attention of the bartender for another shot.

Why didn't you? Ah well, whatever.)

But who cares about that. You want something to drink?

[Firo scowls as the guy speaks, as if he could threaten the facts into making themselves make sense. But it doesn't work. He welcomes the redirection and nods at the offer, smiling now.]

I'd love it.

Sorry to ask about all that. So you're makin' up for lost time, huh? What's next after you finally do get drunk?

(They never will make sense. Sober, drunk, smart, or stupid. Newt's pretty much accepted the bullshit of his own world with a shot of vodka to swallow it down with.

He's glad to see the guy smiling though. That's better.)

It's fine, kind of impossible to avoid. It always comes up. Can't be helped when you don't know jack about what anyone ever says.

(He shrugs at Firo cause it really wasn't the guy's fault for being curious. Newt wouldn't hold that against anyone. He gestures to get the bartender's attention again.)

Yuuuup sure am, man. I dunno yet. Probably do a lot of really dumb stuff. Now, I don't think I got your name? 'm Newt.

[Under different circumstances, he might be inclined to ask about that strange name. But, nope, not entering that rabbit hole again.]
