[Kiran tells himself that he's just here for the food, but for once, he's not wearing his perpetually-pristine, magic-fueled blue and purple magical boy uniform. No, in fact, he's wearing the fresh pair of jeans that came from home last month, and a brand new shirt to boot. Even the hair hanging over the center of his forehead looks brushed and cleaned.
Were he more honest with himself, Kiran would acknowledge his sense of responsibility to attend, having been one of the people who helped Hope get back on his feet. And in the process, he managed to maybe meet some people for once. So... well, maybe this is a celebration he can get behind.
Still, Kiran doesn't want to talk to the people who bore him and doesn't know how to socially engage the people who don't, so for the first half hour of the party he lurks in a corner, eating and sneaking sips of wine.]

[More friendly or open partygoers might notice him lurking by his lonesome and strike up a conversation. Depending on who you are, he may shove some food into his mouth to give him a few seconds to think of how to respond.]

[At a certain point, Kiran will make a very important discovery: there's a large buffet dish of chicken tikka masala. Initially, it was the prospect of eating one of his favorite foods again that made him spoon a hefty portion onto his plate, but when he tastes it...
This is his mother's tikka masala. There's no doubt in his mind. This is exactly how she makes it.
With watery eyes, he takes a few more huge bites of it and then stares at his plate for several long minutes. Eventually, he pushes past numerous people in his way to dump the entire plate, still heaping and uneaten, into the nearest garbage can. This transpires with him in complete ignorance to whoever has been watching him or sees it.]

[Towards the end of the party, as people are beginning to filter out towards their homes, Kiran can be seen seated along the wall again. However, unlike earlier, he's now very drunk. And very talkative.]
Hey! [he attempts to wave at people on their way out, especially people who are leaving alone.] Going already? Come'n sit over here, friend. I got wine I need help drinking. [he pats the seat next to him and grins.]
