Michael didn't notice the city moving, but the Visitor did. At first he mistook it for the usual chatter, but then the cold started to seep into the clinic, and he realized the light was dimmer. Thank god it turned out to be the ocean planet, at least. He can finally go outside without wanting to just lie down on the sidewalk and fry like an egg. Of course, he doesn't get around to actually going on a walk around the new island until the following day.
It's during that walk that he spots the, uh, whatever is going on with Caedra. Some kind of weird sword ritual? Michael's never actually met the woman, so he doesn't immediately connect her with "that demon everyone talks about".
He stops to watch, quietly and from a slight distance, until she finishes her spell and the thorns appear. Huh. Cool.
"Was that magic?" That's a dumb question, but he's not great at conversation openers.
