The morning of April 15th in Hadriel is cheerful, with artificial light streaming through your window. Your blankets are warm, jabberjays are shrieking, and you're probably going to experience a murder attempt today.
Maybe it'll be from a stranger, maybe it'll be from a friend, but the bottom line is that everybody is after somebody and nobody is safe (...okay, twelve people are safe, but that's beside the point). Time will only tell when you'll be overcome by that murderous rage and try to kill someone else. The best thing you can probably do at this point is stay calm, keep your head high, and try not to die for the next eight days.
Helpfully, Rage will have restocked her armory for the event, for those of you have yet to arm themselves. Additionally, for a limited time only, the armory will be stocked with bear traps, tripwire (in both 'general wire' and 'barbed wire' flavor), and voice recorders. Use all of them, use none of them, just get on out there and kill each other!
Oh, and one last thing...► This log covers April 15th-23rd.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► Please tag headers of threads with content warnings where they apply
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
► Did your assassin catch up to you? Please remember to hit up our death post!

Amos comes around the corner cautiously, because tears are not good and he's not sure of his welcome. A jabberjay flutters down to land on the stone in front of Maketh. Hey sugar, it tells her, in a voice that's not Amos's: it sounds familiar but Amos can't place it.

No, stop.
Maketh closes her eyes and counts to five. When she's done with that, she can breathe again.] Are you hurt?
no subject
"I ain't. Are you?"
no subject
[She hasn't been shot. She's perfectly fine.]

[It's against the rules. And even now she wants to go off and finish the job because that man is a threat. He must be a threat. Either way he needs to be stopped.]

Maketh takes a shuddering breath. Her chest hurts.] I don't...I-I don't know...

"So...he threatened you?" Amos guesses, and moves another step closer, still careful to make noise so she can hear him. "You're safe now, okay? Take a deep breath for me, baby."
no subject
There had been a reason. She'd though it sufficient at the time. Maketh shudders hard, trying to slow her breathing down. Be reasonable, recount each step until it makes sense. "He was a threat!"
He was. He had to be. Otherwise she wouldn't have done that.

"Threat to who?" Amos takes another step, and then crouches down in front of Maketh, slightly off to the side so he's not blocking any avenue of escape. Definitely not penning her into a corner: he's being very careful. This whole situation seems very odd: Maketh hasn't seemed the sort to lose her head like this.

"Deep breath, baby. It'll be right, we'll figure it out," Amos promises, as he crouches there. He watches her carefully, and considers patting her on the shoulder. Would she be okay with that or would he end up stabbed?

The anger helps. Brings a bit of clarity.] I--I looked at him and....something happened. He was a threat. Is! But I don't....I don't know why.

Not exactly the best explanation, but Amos's eyes narrow. Looked and felt something, hmm? "What's you feel, baby?" he coaxes, because if that doesn't sound like an enchantment, he's a potato.
Being marginally sharper than a root vegetable and with far fewer eyes, well....

"I wonder if Rage is playing games..." Amos muses. Angry for no reason, and Amos well remembers Rage's resurrection and the pervading malcontent and ill-spirits that had covered the cave. "Sounds like witchery."

"That I can't answer, baby. Enchantment's tricky. Sometimes knowing it's an echantment helps?"
But some people are more prone to being enspelled than others. Amos has been fairly lucky over his life to have only encountered minor spells, but these gods are out of his experience and he has no concrete answer for Maketh.
He wishes he did. He hates hos upset she is right now.

"I'm sorry, baby. When Rage resurrected, everyone was angry, ready to fight. Might be something similar...."
Amos has no idea, really, but anything that might help Maketh at this point.
