What: The event log for the In Need of a Boat event

Warnings: Emotional stuff. You know.

All right, so the gods need your energy. That's not new. You mostly know how this goes... except now it's all in your hands. Instead of the gods forcing emotion on you, it's up to you to pledge yourself to a god and inspire their emotion in others, in order to get the best ships and sails and compasses and all those other things.

So what are you going to do? Set up an elaborate date to make someone feel love... then use the setup for five other people? Wow, scandalous. Start fights in the street? Ooh, spicy! Or maybe you'll lead a yoga and meditation workshop in an attempt to help others find their inner tranquility. How relaxing.

Whatever you do, make the most of it. How many supporters each god has, and the effort they put into what they're doing, directly affects how nice the things they'll end up making are. So if you want food that actually tastes good, lend Hope a hand, but if you want sails that aren't full of holes, well, maybe it's time to work on your streetfighting skills. Rage needs you! And each of the gods definitely appreciates your help. Probably. They might even remember your name this time.

[George hasn't had a date in ever, so even if it's a long shot and he might not consider himself the best date material, she's not the best date material, either.

she smiles awkwardly and takes a seat across from him]

Yeah? I mean, you offered a date and so. [she points at herself] Figured I might as well.

Then I'm glad you came.

[He's secretly relieved that anyone came at all, considering how he'd thrown this together and all. After all, he's a bit out of depth when it comes to feelings of love. Especially inspiring them in others. He knows well enough how love itself can feel... sort of. It's Complicated.]

[Ok, so for right now... he just has to try and relax.]

I figured this might be the best place for it... it's comfortable, there's good food... [Sure, ok, they have limited options, but still.]

[well, why wouldn't she come? he's seemed cool enough the times they talked. most people, she'd suspect them of setting her up for a practical joke with such an offer.

Yeah and it's not like we have many other options for this kind of thing. And I like it here, so. Bonus?

True. Our choices are rather limited...

[But it probably could be worse. They're definitely fortunate that everything comes along with them whenever they end up in new places.]

[He pauses, considering, needing to work past his awkwardness. He's so not the best in social situations like this. No time like the present to make it work, though.] I've not done anything like this too often. But I figured it would be for the best. [He picks up the menu to glance at it, though he's already more or less figured out what he wants.]

Yeah, just a bit.

[that's a bonus. it would suck to have to rebuild everything every time they moved.

she's also awkward and bad in social situations. there, they have something to bond over?]

I've never done anything like this ever. Wasn't exactly popular back home. And, it's fine. [she considers her options. there's a BLT listed, but she'd bet money that it's not real bacon. at least not bacon from a pig]

You haven't, either?

[He lets out a little sigh of relief, feeling a bit better all of a sudden. So he's not the only one who's had problems in this area. Well, then, that's not so bad...]

That's good to know. Back home... I was forced to sometimes attend certain events and take someone, but it was never... Well. That's not the same as doing something because you want to.

[He ponders over the menu again. Yes, he definitely wants to go for something pretty simple, himself.]

Nope. Not even once.

[they can be awkward first date newbies together. they'll both fumble their way through this]

Yeah, there's a huge difference between "hey, you're going to this gala, take so-and-so" and going out with someone you actually care for.

[she's leaning towards the chicken salad sandwich. at least with the canned meats, there's a chance it once came from an actual chicken]

[In a way, that makes this more comfortable for Kain, knowing he isn't the only one lacking experience. So if he messes up somehow, she hopefully wouldn't notice.]

[He nods agreement.]

It was all very much like that, very set up for us. It's not as if you were ever alone at those balls, either... It was all always a very group-oriented occasion. It's certainly one thing I don't miss much about my home.

[He waves someone over to take their orders after a moment, since it looks like they're ready for that.]

[he's right, she would have no idea. besides, she's busy analyzing and criticizing her own behavior]

Yeah, that sounds like a pain. They probably didn't care if you'd actually get along with the girl they set you up with, just that you were set up. I wouldn't miss it, either. [she heaves an exaggerated sigh of relief.

[First thing first, ordering their food. Once that's done, Kain tries to keep things going, knowing that it's best to at least make his best attempt at conversation. He does feel better in some ways, though. It's not so bad, at all. He thinks about those various royal functions he was always forced to attend, and how much he really doesn't miss any of it at all. At least this is much less forced. Well. It is also forced in its way, but it's different.]

There are definitely some things I don't miss, from back home... and some things that I do. So... What's your world like?
