Intro Log: Please Remove Metal From Luggage

Who: New arrivals and everyone else!
What: The intro log for August
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: August 10th-13th
Warnings: New folks, metal falling apart, fun stuff

As you wake up on the sand of the colosseum, gazing up at cloudy gray skies, you might wonder what you're doing here. Where are you? How did you get here? You'll figure it all out soon enough, so try to clamp down on that rising panic, or you just might end up in a dangerous situation.

Because, of course, you're not the only thing that arrived. The Door has also chosen to pull in some rust monsters. These monsters may look a bit like insects, but they're much larger, with a rather vicious bite. You can fight them, but be careful - anything metal that touches them instantly begins to corrode. Your sword, a bullet from your gun, even your robot friend. Might want to keep a little distance.

And that's not all. Scattered across the ground of the colosseum can be found a variety of unique and delightful musical instruments. If you're the musical sort, maybe you can figure out how to play one - or maybe you already know. Hopefully no rust monster has wandered too close to the one you want to try, or you might find that it's missing important metal bits.

Once you've found a way to express the song in your heart, feel free to leave whatever bit of safety you've found. You can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

I would love it if that happened. But it probably won't, not for a long time. Or unless I give up the Legion or Jo and I'm not going to.

I cant imagine them being a drawback. If anything, they could probably use a few heavy hitters helping them out.

I'll have to look into it, then. Joining is worth a try. Are you going to?

I'd thought about it? I'm used to working alone, though. Think I'm just gonna keep doing things my own way for now.

That's fair. But if you ever need any backup, I'm a call away.

I will definitely keep that in mind, and you let me know if you ever need a hand. I can't fly, but I can still get there pretty quick.

It's a deal. [goes for a handshake that could totally turn into a hug]

[And he goes in for a handshake that could totally turn into a high five. What about a hug-five? Handshakes are flexible that way.]

[they don't really high five in the 30th century, so she's briefly confused before she gets that she's supposed to slap his hand with hers, but she figures it out and does so. and the hug kind of turns into a one armed bro hug]

I wouldn't give up the things I love either. [ He agrees ] After all, you want her to love you for who you are, and that includes the things that you love.

[unphase]

[she sighs] She'll never accept either. She hates the Legion for getting me into dangerous situations. And she thinks that Jo is trash.

[bythewaves]

[ He winces ]

I am sorry, Lady Tinya! And I hope for your sake you are mistaken, and one day she will see.

[unphase]

That would be nice. Better than nice, it would be wonderful. [she sighs] I just don't see it happening.

[Alright, shit, there he go. Taako blinks a minute, but decides he does want to brag here, so he'll talk.]

So the first rule of this place is that stuff tastes like normal stuff, but looks totally fucking different. So yeah, smells like coffee, right? Except coffee to these people is like, walnut sized and purple. This is a grinder.

[He pushes it down with a finger from his face so he can point out the blades on the inside. It honestly looks more like a food processor, which is likely why it makes negative three sense.]

Literally everything is like this. It's horrible. Took two weeks to put together a proper spice cabinet.

That's k-kind of all we can do, really... the Gods don't really tell us anything. We've found out a lot, uh, since we g-got here though! Like about the Null, and other planets, and... all sorts of stuff.

[People have evolved past high fives how is this possible??? Take that back to the future and resurrect the art of high fives, Tinya.

One armed bro hugs are good too.]

Do they even have a good reason for not telling us anything? It just seems super sketchy to me that they're being all hush-hush about really important stuff, you know?

[they have in Bgztl and those are the customs she's used to. Earth likely still has them, but Lyle is the only Terran Legionnaire and he's the "too cool" type.

[ Again that brush to her arm in sympathy ]

Courage! Despair is only for those who can see the end. You do not yet know what the end of your story is - it may turn either way.

[she comes really close to breaking down and revealing that she thinks she's dead. she barely manages to pull herself together]

...it might. You never know. Mother could come around. Maybe.

I hope she does, Lady Tinya, for what I see is a heart bold and kind, and that is worthy of honor in any land.

[she manages a slightly tremulous smile]

[ He smiles at her in return, encouraging ]

You've been nothing but kind to me lady, and the tales you describe of your fight in your own world speak well for you.

[her smile grows a little firmer, but she sighs a little]

I only wish I knew how the fight ended.

[ He nods, understanding ]
