What: Examining people with powers so Kate can finally start enchanting things for all you ingrates.

[ Standing a few hundred feet from the Colosseum, Kate leans against a dilapidated building and pushes her sunglasses back up her nose. Her braided hair - visibly less pink than when she arrived, with dark roots showing - shifts as her shoulders lift and fall. Instead of her usual bright jacket and dark skinny jeans combination, Kate's opted for something she lifted from a store in Hadriel. It isn't fashionable, nor particularly flattering, but it's clothing - and relatively sturdy clothing at that. It works for the moment, which is all she needs.

She glances towards the Colosseum, and then up the street, looking for anyone approaching. For a moment, her eyes even take to the rooftops above, just in case. But she doesn't see all that many people hanging out on Hadriel's rooftops, so she doesn't expect much.

If someone approaches her, she offers an awkward cock of her lips that is supposed to be a smile and takes her hands from her pockets. ] Hey. You saw the message, then?

[ He's definitely late. And has not even realized that he's at the Colosseum yet. He really needs to get a few (or many) screws tightened in his head or something because there's probably a lot of them rattling around in there, showing in not only his lack of sense of direction.

He also appears a little confused when she talks all of a sudden, but don't mind that. The sound of a lollipop breaking between his teeth is heard before he makes a confused sound. ] Huhm?

[ Well, turning up at all is something. She's been drifting in and out of observation as the time ticks by... because, really, standing around and waiting is only so interesting for so long.

Kate's foot taps, idle and instinctual, and she rewords herself. ] You here for the experiment?

[dragonbite]

Experiment? [ He has to think about that for a couple moments. ] Oh. With the fire.

[ He has the best attention span. ]

Yeah, that one. [ Kate offers her hand to shake. ] Name's Kate, by the way.

[ This might be a long day. ]

How does your power work, anyway? [ But she'll give it a go anyway. ]

Vaiz. [ Oh right, people shake hands... ]

The way it works. [ He is not for the theoretical part of learning stuff. ]

[ Okay... breathing deep works. She needs this anyway. ] Do you breathe fire? Produce it from your hands? Or summat else?

[dragonbite]

I don't breathe it. [ People do that? ]

[dedikated]

[ a surprising amount, actually. Her foot taps faster. ] why don't you just show me.

[dragonbite]

[ He can't even tell that she might be a bit impatient with him. ]

I suppose.

[ Was that his cue? She might have to tell him that that was his cue. ]

[ not quiiite, but she's getting there. ]

Good. Start now. [ there's a tinge of a sigh to her voice there. She's not even going to try to ask for an explanation at the same time. ]

[ Good choice because he can't really focus on two things at the same time. ]

Ah, okay. [ He concentrates on a spot in the air, and after a few moments, there's a little spark, and from it grows a flame. ]

[ okay, now we're getting somewhere. She shifts, squatting and leaning around as if she's trying to find the trick to it. But soon enough, Kate is back to a standing position and tapping the frame of a pair of sunglasses. ]

So, you just concentrate? Do you feel the power coming from anywhere? [ because having an idea of the power source would make it easier to narrow down what she needs to do. ] Does it, like, come from your head or gut?

Ah... [ Where does it come from? ] My fingers? Sometimes? [ Discussing magic with Vaiz is... not the easiest. He's really not the theoretical type of magic user. ]

[dedikated]

Alright. [ it's something. She taps a few more times, and slips the glasses on.

But, after a moment; ] Not that...

[ off come the sunglasses and she taps the frames again until the enchantment comes off. ] Is there anything else you can do?

[dragonbite]

[ What is she trying to do? He has no clue at all. ]

Mmm, yeah? [ He blows air and magic into the straw he has between his teeth, and she's suddenly trapped in a bubble that can't be broken from the inside, or the outside, with force. It can only break with time or when he lets it. ]

[dedikated]

[ u h... Well, that is a thing. Thankfully, Kate caught the whole blowing mechanism out of the corner of her eye, so she won't ask for a repeat performance. She pokes the bubble and... Well, nothing happens. Instead, she goes back to the strange tapping, different clicks and lengths between sequences, like a chain of messages or code.

The glasses go back on, and... Well, there's a vague shift in colour when she looks at him, but it's murky and indistinct, like the powers are just a puddle instead of their own things. ]

You always had these abilities?

[ His bubble magic is the easiest for him, so he wouldn't mind repeating that one. Otherwise he thinks it's an effort to use magic when he's not in battle, and he tries to avoid battle as much as he can. ]

Aah, yeah. I have, though I've started at Puzzle Magic Academy recently.

Right... [ she seems... Weirdly unperturbed by the bubble, just tapping away at those glasses instead.

And, eventually, she slips them on once more and...

There's a bubble of iridescent colour around him, both abilites mixed together like food dye in water. ]

That's new. [ she blinks. ] can you use one of your powers again? [ now she just needs to check if it reacts to powers being used. ]
