[closed] (loud screaming) BOAT PARTY
Who: Taako, Lup, Barry, Kravitz, Magnus, Lance, and Nate.
What: 7 assholes, two boats, heading into the ocean for the chance to look for some buckwild stuff.
Where: Out at sea!
When: The entirety of the voyage; August 13th-September 3rd.
Warnings: Idk PG-13 levels of shirtlessness, curse words, maybe somebody ends up overboard at some point. Should be cool.
This is a catch all for the boat party for this group! Make top-levels for threads within this time and go friggin' wild. For convenience, I've provided 3 toplevel headers as general timeline assistance; as far as events of the voyage go, it'll basically be:
Week One: (August 13th-19th) Leaving the city and traveling to the fragment!
Week Two: (August 20th-26th) Still traveling, picking up whatever they find somewhere in here, since it's about the middle.
Week Three: (August 27th- Sept 3rd) Traveling and arriving home!
Feel free not to use exact dates, I sure don't care, this is just to help figure out if things happened before other things, OTHERWISE GO WILD

Krav shoots Lup an almost identical look, albeit with a little more fondness mixed in.]
Nothing. Yet.
[Apparently this makes complete sense to him.]
no subject
Ominous. [But she only grins, looking more amused than anything with his vague answer.]
You... You do know how to swim, right?
ilysm
Of course I know how to swim!
[He scoffs exaggeratedly, as if that's a dumb thing to ask, even though he's giving her good reason to doubt as much. Then Krav pauses, and opens and closes his mouth a couple times.]
I mean- theoretically. I never learned, as a child. At least, I don't think so- but I can fly, and open portals, so I don't really need to know the specifics when I can just-
[His words begin to rush together. Long story short? No. No he doesn't.]
f r e e h i m
Cause she is smiling way too wide at this new information.]
That's a ton of rambling just to tell me no, Skeletor.
[But her gaze drops from him to stare out over the railing out into the sea. It's a calm day, the waves long behind them with the sun shining overhead.]
Y'know, Taako taught Barry to swim. Like, a hundred years ago. [No exaggeration for once.] Maybe we should make it tradition. I could teach you.

Kravitz is tempted to snap, to put up the defensive wall that could easily come to his aid here; to portal down into their quarters and refuse to come back up for the rest of their journey. But he knows Lup now, loves her like family, and if he can't be honest with her, who can he be honest with? He can't put the weight of his burdens and anxieties solely on Taako. How unfair that would be.
So he sighs, and replies to Lup in a way that is probably wholly more honest than she was expecting.]
There was an incident. With the Hunger. I managed to claw my way to the surface, but- water has rather lost it's appeal. I suppose I was more ambivalent to it, before that.

He's right, of course. What does come out of the reaper's mouth is unlike anything that Lup had been expecting. She'd been taking this whole conversation as light and playful, their usual level of teasing banter, but Kravitz just has to take a running leap straight off deep end to keep the woman on her toes.
For at least a few uncomfortable seconds, Lup doesn't react. Doesn't even blink. This is a side to the man she hasn't seen since her twin's disappearance. But this is, for once, not about Taako, not about them talking about Taako or making plans around him. It's simply Kravitz sharing a piece of himself with Lup, simply because he wants to more than he needs to for Taako's sake. For perhaps the first time in this place, this is about the two of them alone.
And shit. That is friggin' significant.]
Noted. I didn't know, natch. I can, uh... I can kinda see what you're gettin' at.
[Lup lets her gaze stay out along the water, though she's watching Kravitz from the corner of her eye. It's easier to speak when you aren't looking face-to-face, isn't it?]
I can't do the dark anymore. Or small spaces. Like, Taako an' I spent our whole lives curling up into the smallest, weirdest places we could find. Twisting up as small as possible into the back of a caravan or squeezing up under raised tree roots for shelter. We did it all.
[Lup reaches up to idly brush the bangs from her face. As casual as ever.]
Not anymore. I just. Panic. Not a good look.
no subject
Except of course, it is, because Lup can't do that anymore. The smile leaves his face, to be replaced with a sort of empathetic grimace. He gets it.]
It's unpleasant, to feel as though something has been stolen from you. A possibility- [he nods to Lup.] Or a memory.
no subject
Doesn't mean we can't work on taking it back, though.
no subject
[He smiles to himself.]
Your resolve, I mean. It's always been impressive, the whole time I've known you.
no subject
Smart man. I am pretty phenomenal.
no subject
Truer words were never spoken.

...To teach me? Ah, I...

Yes, alright, I suppose. Could we perhaps wait until we're back, though? Now hardly seems like the ideal time for 'reapers first swim'.
