Yes. And I have not come this far to relinquish you now, Glacius insists firmly. He's aware of Carlisle's despondence, and it's hard not to give himself up to that himself considering what he can feel—or what he can barely feel, rather—from the Mote. He's also aware that in times like this, offering hope might feel like little more than simple platitude... but he refuses to give in to the alternative. His partner needs him, and he has always said that he will never give up on the human; he does not plan to go back on all of that now. If Carlisle cannot find determination for himself in this trying time, then hopefully he can still dig deep enough in the Mote to experience his alien's.
