Ah, where indeed. It's not something Carlisle has told many people -- only two, maybe three others are aware of the lengths he want to to get these plants. He's ashamed of it, in truth, but... it was necessary. He needed these plants, and still does, not just to manage his condition, but to give him direction, further purpose in this world so far from his goddess and all he knows. He needed that familiarity to ground him.

"I bargained for them," he answers quietly, his fingers brushing against the translucent petals of a glassweed blossom. "With Sorrow. He demanded I destroy something precious in return for them, and I did."
