If the rain on your face isn't enough to wake you up in the colosseum, maybe the thundering footsteps and- well, thunder- is. The first thing that you may notice is that it's incredibly wet around here, with winds that could knock you over if you aren't careful and thunder that brings with it a torrent of constant rainfall.
That's all fine though, because the gods saw fit to help you out on your way in and now everyone will be waking up wearing a rain coat! These coats are a little odd, and some of them are downright silly, but we trust that you'll make do. Of course, a few of the raincoats have additional sleeves, neck holes, and entirely too many buttons as well- but hey, it's the best we could do.
Wait, what was that about thundering footsteps? Oh right, as you're navigating your new fashion choices, there are some monsters afoot who will want nothing more than to grind you into a pulp and eat you- well, if you're organic, that is. If you're not organic, then they still want to grind you to a pulp, but maybe not so much the eating part.
Ogres are from many fantasy stories, but these in particular are from the Dragon Age series. With incredible strength and stamina and massive horns, fangs, and a bloodlust for violence, these monsters won't stop until everyone around them is a blood smear on the ground. They're also not too happy about this rainfall either, so be careful not to slip in the puddles as you run away from them!
Once you've splashed around a bit, feel free to run off into the stormy abyss of our islands. You can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!► This log covers September 10th-13th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication and the newbie guide installed.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!

He scoffs when she mentions dragging him after he passes out, rolling his eyes and looking away at the suggestion. It's mostly amusing and a little... what is that feeling? Something like embarrassment? Shame? At the idea that she might actually be able to? There's something military or tightly controlled about her, something that says she could, and Daryl's dismissive sound fades almost as soon as it starts. ]
Y'could try. I didn't ask for your help. [ That seems stupidly important for him to clarify. He's almost indignant that she might think he'd expect her to stay and help. Daryl isn't one to ask anything of anybody. Ever. ] Why would any doctor around here agree t'fix me up? [ Because nothing is free anymore, and he doesn't have a thing to trade.
But what she says next ain't really an answer, not in the way he was expecting to hear it, and it only serves to confuse Daryl more. His face falls from guarded to hopelessly confused and irritated. It's like she's being evasive on purpose. What exactly is she trying to tell him!? ]
[ One thing stuck loudly in his head more than anything else, though. ] An island? [ But... that simply was not possible. It wasn't, and Carolina's answer only made it sound more to Daryl like he'd been kidnapped by some nefarious group -- who knows what kind of people were out there these days, now that the dead have taken over? ] But I was just in Georgia... I was just there. I was comin' back from lookin' for her, I got to the fields, and... and I think I got shot. In Georgia.
[ But Daryl's afraid now, and that makes him furious and unsteady on top of wounded and exhausted. ]
Tell me where you're from! Now!

He is on point with his assessment, although Carolina would say that she's technically a free agent now. With Freelancer brought down, it's not like she has anyone to report to. Even if there was some aspect of it left, it's not for Carolina any longer. She is, surprisingly, content where she is with the Reds and the Blues, although it's not without it's issues.]
No, you didn't, but you're also bleeding all over.
[And while once she may very well have just put a bullet through his head and walked away, especially if she thought that he was an enemy, Carolina has made the effort to change. She doesn't want to be a killer, as it has kept coming back at her. Heck, their current situation had stemmed around her being too caught up in besting Texas that she had accidentally gotten others killed. It must be a hard place where he comes from though and she finds herself regarding him at that question.]
Last I checked, that is what doctors do. And technically, four main islands.
[Not that the clarification likely helps any.
Yet if he actually wants an answer... Someone really should make a billboard or something so that when people arrive, they can read it. Not that most would believe it, as she wouldn't, but it might get some wheels turning. Her expression does remain level, neutral, even with his emotions rising. She might be a little cocky, but she doubts that he can do anything to her even if he wanted to. He has asked for it though, and she lets a breath out.]
I was born on Earth, if that's what you're after, but I haven't lived there in some time. It was 2558. ... it likely wasn't that year for you, and it's just as unlikely that we even come from the same universe.

[ Because why should she care? Daryl isn't anything to her. He's never been anything to anyone, besides his brother Merle, and he's only feeling more sore about that fact after being shot on the farm. Trying to do some good for someone, and getting nothing but dismissive suspicion and a bullet in return. ]
Sure. Maybe doctors before, but now? It's everyone for themselves. They won't help unless they got a reason to. How come you don't know that?
[ Everything about her and her responses are putting Daryl on edge, but he's also still losing blood, has been losing blood for hours, so it's a bleary sort of edge he's on. If he'd bothered to check his pockets for the phone that he's been given, the welcome message might have cleared some things up for him... but Daryl hasn't exactly had the chance, and probably won't even believe the thing when he does.
And then she answers him, and Daryl just blinks at her. Once, twice, before sinking down to sit on the floor and shake his head to himself as he checks the tightness of the bandage on his head. ]
Oh, okay. So you're fuckin' nuts. Got it.

Yet where ever he comes from, it is different from where Carolina is from, that much is clear. It's not that doctors are always there, and no doubt there are those who literally charge an arm and a leg to get something done, but it is a confused expression that shuffles over her face. Doctors before, doctors now... Accepting this place isn't easy. Even hanging around the Reds and the Blues hadn't prepared her for it, but she had had Wash when she had arrived.
She likely isn't going to get anywhere with him, and she can't really blame him for thinking that she is nuts. Maybe had she had her armor, Carolina could have put her money where her mouth was, but it's back in her room, an in case of emergency measure. Not that she doesn't trust the program that Wash created, but she's not going to be anyone's killing puppet.]
Did you check your device at all to see if there's anyone here you know? Maybe they can clear some things up for you.
[That slight sharpness to her voice as she isn't one who is known to have vast amounts of patience. And being called nuts, even by someone who has just arrived... Hell. Maybe she should just go to the clinic and tell them where to find him.]
