What: The event log for the A Little Touchy Feely event
Where: In the city of Hadriel
When: September 20th-29th
Warnings: Cuddles? Please keep in mind our rule about potentially adult content.
In the morning of September 20th, you wake up with an itch you can't quite seem to scratch. There's a strong impulse, lingering in the back of your mind and it's difficult to figure out exactly what you need at first. You may be unhappy, unsatisfied for most of the morning, but everything clicks when you run into someone else- whether it's a casual interaction with a roommate or friend or a more intimate one with a boyfriend or girlfriend, after a brief moment of contact, suddenly everything falls into place.
You'll spend the next week or so seeking out that contact, consciously or unconsciously. It's not enough to have a handshake or a hi five, you want to be close to people: physically, emotionally, any way you can get it. The closeness makes you happy, the happiness makes you forget about how lame it is on a rocky desert island on an alien planet. Everybody wins, right?
Make sure all cuddles are consensual, and try to stave off the horrible coldness that comes from your fear of being alone, at least for a few more days!► This log covers September 20th-29th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well
► Please tag headers of threads with content warnings where they apply
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
► If you get cuddled to death, please let us know here.
sonya | OTA; will match format
Sonya wasn't a touchy person by nature. Unless she knew someone really well, any tactile sign of affection was usually met with cold reserve and tolerance at best.
Yet, returning from the voyage and taking the pieces to the lab, Sonya found herself eager for company, the sort that was casual and relaxing, and could be enjoyed on the sofa and listening to music and comfort food. She hadn't had an evening to fully relax in ages, and to think on it made her recall just how strange and out of place she felt her-how much she missed her friends and allies from home.
After awhile, she caved and sent a message to someone..anyone..she considered a friend. Hey, it's Sonya. At the risk of sounding desperate, I don't suppose you're in the mood for casual company?
Speakeasy
With her mom's history of alcohol, Sonya usually avoided the stuff except in close company. Lately though, for once, she felt strangely social, or at the very least, after the first day or so returning to her apartment, she found it was too big..too empty.
That evening could find her at the speakeasy, trying her hardest to pretend it's the neighborhood bar from home, and her team is with her-instead of dead. When she sees someone catch her eye, she tries to return the smile and lift her drink to them in a toast.

so when she gets the message from Sonya, she immediately makes her way over, knocking at the door]
Sonya? It's me, Margaery!
Re: homecoming
A smile appeared on her face and the gun was immediately set aside as she opened the door.] Margaery, thanks for coming. [She let her inside.] Weeks at sea, it's nice to see a familiar face on land again.
You want anything to drink? I have tea and managed to get a bottle of something from the speakeasy. [To judge from the smell, she also had something cooking. Prior to her arrival, Sonya didn't know if she'd have to spend the evening alone or not, but pizza was good either way.]
Re: homecoming
Let's see . . . I think I'll take the something from the Speakeasy. [Margaery has never had pizza. this could be interesting]
Re: homecoming
[If some of the guys could hear her say that, Sonya had no doubt they'd consider it serious.]
[She handed her a tumbler.] Dinner's in the oven. Pizza...or what I could make with what was in the shops. [Which really amounted to flat bread with tomato sauce, cheese and herbs.] Was craving something from home..that was also simple to fix.
Re: homecoming
[they should spend some time in Hadriel, then they'd get it.
she takes the tumbler from Sonya] I've never had pizza before. In fact, I've never even heard of it. I understand the wish for something from home, though.
Re: homecoming
[She laid back on the sofa.] Just days..weeks on end with the same people. Maybe if you're lucky you find an island to explore. Between then it's a matter of surviving and fighting off the twin dangers of boredom and insanity.
[She actually laughed a little.]But it does now make sense why sailors and pirates go nuts when they reach land. I would've done the same, but for just wanting a long soak first.
[Against her better judgement, she stood up and headed to the kitchen, the smell and sound of the oven judging that the food was ready. She returned five minutes later with the rough pizza on a platter and a few napkins, and set both on the table.] Just tear off a slice with your hands and enjoy.
Re: homecoming
[she sits on the sofa primly, back straight] Oh, dear. That doesn't sound like much of an adventure. But were you able to find pieces of the Door?
I'd imagine you would! You spent a long time away from a proper bath or shower.
[she waits patiently for Sonya to return, the smell of the pizza wafting into the living room. it doesn't smell like anything she's eaten before, but it does smell good] All right. [she tries to be tidy about things and ends up with the world's tiniest piece of pizza]
Re: homecoming
[That was done and overwith though, she could try to feel more comfortable now.]
[She tore off a piece for herself.] Canned tomatoes, garlic and dried herbs. Least, again, what I could find.
[Taking a bite, she found it passable, good even, but then she was probably just that hungry without realizing it.]
Re: homecoming
[she has a bite of the pizza and finds it not bad. definitely different than Westerosi food, but that's not necessarily a bad thing]
We don't have tomatoes in Westeros. When I first saw one, I wasn't sure what to do with it.
[Margaery was hungry. canned fruit got old after eating it for nearly a week when she was stranded by the storm]
Re: homecoming
[The rest was in the hands of god..or gods. She was beyond caring at this point.] They're good for sauces, soups, just eating them raw...cored tomatoes stuffed with seasoned beef and rice isn't bad either if you know how to cook them.
[She actually leaned back against her, holding her slice over a napkin.] My aunt and uncle taught me how to cook. Mom was the sort who could burn water.
Re: homecoming
[Margaery cares because these fragments could be her ticket to another life on another world] Unfortunately, the only thing I know about kitchens is how to oversee those who run one.
[the touching is nice, so Margaery nestles closer] That was very kind of them. I don't know if my mother could cook. She did teach me how to sew, though.
Re: homecoming
[Sonya never considered herself a tactile person, but the close contact felt oddly nice-almost grounding in a way.] Never really had that option. My family wasn't broke, exactly, but they could only take one one of us, so I'd live with one set of relatives, my brother another. If it wasn't for them, at mom's house it was mostly tv dinners or what came out of a can.
[She smiled and gave Margery a slight nudge, fully aware that she'd know how that felt.] Learned to sew in the army, believe it or not. Don't have the luxury of 'washerwomen anymore, for health reasons, so most laundry has to be done by hand.
[She knew well enough what 'washerwomen' really meant in the old-world style by now, and what their evening jobs could be.]
Re: homecoming
Margaery likes touching and cuddling with friends and she considers Sonya a friend] That must have been difficult, being separated from your brother in that way. But what's a TV dinner?
[she's nudged and laughs brightly] It's a good idea to know how to sew, no matter where it is you learn it. And they didn't have the washing machines like we have here?
[in Westeros, most whores earned enough to have it as their full time jobs]
Re: homecoming
It was, but, once a week we could call eachother on the phone if it wasn't too long, and then there was the post. [She took another drink, feeling as close to home as she had ever felt in this place.] TV dinners are small ready-made meals that are flash frozen, you heat them in the oven or microwave and suddenly it's ready. They're not bad of course, if there's nothing else, but it's not the same.
Maybe I should learn to sew beyond patching up holes and repairs. Might be a new hobby or something.
Re: homecoming
Still, the phone is a poor substitute for actually being together. Loras and I were lucky. We were rarely separated. He was even able to serve his time as a squire at home for we had cousins who were knights. [Margaery never feels quite at home here, or at least she hasn't since she lost Matt] I see. Given the description, I'm surprised that such things aren't found in the stores.
If you'd like to learn, I'd be happy to teach you.
Re: homecoming
[Most of the food here could be stored without the need for electric power, she'd noticed.]
Why not, it'll be something to do. [She turns and smirks at her.] Also payback for all those earlier lessons I've been giving you.
Re: homecoming
[it's true. it took her a while to get used to electricity and she still doesn't do much cooking on the stove]
Indeed. [she smirks back] I don't plan to go easy on you.
Speakeasy
And there is Sonya with a drink in her hand, toasting him. "Sonya!" he greets her. "Glad to be back on dry land?"
Re: Speakeasy
She laughed, clearly only partially serious. In truth, she was really just relieved to finally be dry, except for when she was finally able to take a relaxing soak in the tub. "And out of the rain, can't forget about that."
no subject
He orders a drink and leans on the bar and toasts her back.
no subject
Though, she could also see why such comforts were brought in the first place, she supposed.
"But who better to rant with then people sharing the same misery as you."
no subject
"Yes! That's the one good thing about misery. It's the ranting afterwards with the people who shared it with you." He lifts his glass and toasts her.
no subject
"So how'd you celebrate your first day back on dry land?"
no subject
"My first day back on dry land? I celebrated in two ways: I went to visit my family and we remembered our dear departed ones -- my eldest brother and my son. And then I went to the Orchard to help plant new trees."
He took another sip.
"And yourself? What did you do?"
