The way I see it, if what I've already been through hasn't broken me by now, then I can handle this. And I guess for me it's less about helping the gods or aliens or whatever, and more just keeping in mind that the energy or whatever they take from me goes back into helping everyone else. And then there's that, too. I'd rather be here than dead, even if here does kind of suck sometimes.
