[But of course the creature immediately notices something moving against it. Something- someone, who is no longer the focus of its typically nonexistent affection.

It lifts its head, burning eyes flicking toward Pratt. It flexes its jaws open and closed, mere inches from him, making a low sound that's less like the purr of the night before, and more of a growl. It seems to be attempting to assess his threat level.

He isn't going for the monster's host, and he isn't armed. There's no evidence of a murder here, and certainly not one that points to him as the obvious culprit. It doesn't recall ever hearing, through its hosts senses, that this particular person has killed.

The creature tilts its head in confusion, then stands, withdrawing its arm from around its former cuddle-buddy. It remains there, still except for the shifting smoke, as if waiting to see if he'll do something.]
