Have you been having trouble getting a good night's sleep? Tossing and turning, unable to rest those tired eyes? Or maybe you don't sleep at all, and never have. Not to worry! For a little while, you'll have no trouble at all falling asleep - in fact, as night falls, you'll find yourself overwhelmed with exhaustion whether you want to sleep or not. Lay down and rest your weary head, friends. Everyone could use a little extra sleep.
But what will your dreams bring? Something happy, images of a perfect day? Something hopeful, something you've wanted for a long time? Maybe you'll dream of anger, of the face of your worst enemy. Or maybe - just maybe - you'll have a horrific nightmare, and wake screaming, covered in cold sweat.
Not before others have time to see it, though. As you sleep, as you dream, the other residents of Hadriel, friends and enemies and people you've only met once, might find their way into your dreams. Or you might find your way into theirs - and then have to deal with someone's else's nightmares, or hopes, or anger. For the next ten nights, you'll find yourself either a host or a visitor, and no matter how you try you won't be able to stay awake once night falls.
Sweet dreams, Hadriel. Don't let the asshole fear gods bite.► This log covers May 16th-26th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► Please tag headers of threads with content warnings where they apply
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
► You can't die in the dreams, but if you somehow manage to trip and fall and kill yourself getting out of bed, please report it on the death post.

‘We were friends.’ Noah had said. Asked them if they were afraid of Gansey, for an example of how unthinkable it was to Noah that Whelk could have hurt him.
What they had with Gansey was different, a friendship to willingly die for each other for. This is the memory of a living boy, one who has no idea what is waiting for him.
Noah defended Whelk even after the murder.
He sees the baseball bat coming, and the living, breathing, dream-Noah manages to grab Whelk and drag him out of the way, both boys falling to the grass in the process. The irony equally goes over their heads that Noah just saved the life of his future murderer.
“What the hell?!” Noah demands, and now he’s looking at the Demon like he’s something or someone to be afraid of as the two of them struggle back to their feet, Noah making sure he’s between the Demon and Whelk.
Baseball bats are much better for smashing than skateboards. Whelk is going for the bat the Demon threw.

"What are you doing?" He doesn't sound as monotone as usual, honestly perplexed. Here he thought he was getting better at understanding how humans work. Apparently not.
"Since when did you have a car?" He's still a little confused that this isn't Hadriel and mostly isn't real.

"Since forever? It was last year's birthday present, when the fuck else would I get it?" Because Noah was that kind of rich to get a brand new car with all the bells and whistles for a 'congrats on the licence' birthday present. "You attack my friend then wonder why the hell I'm pissed? What fucking planet do you live on?"
Whelk has taken a few precautionary steps back, letting Noah handle this.
He's got the baseball bat the Demon threw.
shots fired
Something about this isn't adding up, and not just the usual unpredictable nature of humans who he still didn't fully understand. Maybe if he got Noah drunk enough he'd stop being so fucking weird. And then it dawns on him.
He glances at the car. The woods. Back at Noah.
"You don't know who the fuck I am do you?"
man down
"Leave it, Czerny, it doesn't matter," Whelk says from behind Noah, his voice equal measures of tired and desperate. Noah gives an angry huff, turning back to say something to Whelk.
Whatever it is he doesn't finish it as Whelk lifts the bat that the Alcohol Demon threw and swings it hard, catching Noah across the jaw and knocking him to the ground with a spray of blood from the impact.
heart down as well
He didn't expect that, hadn't even been looking at Whelk. In fact he was just about to walk away when Whelk struck. Afterall, if Noah doesn't know who he is, why even bother? Sure it feels... strange on some level, some emotion he can't quite understand, and when he doesn't understand something he just gets pissed. But it's as good an excuse as any to go back to not giving a crap about anyone or anything, the way it's always been till this hellhole of a cave.
Stupid people. Stupid emotions. Stupid gods making him be sorta a person with emotions and complicating his simple existence of trying to get Ethan blackout drunk so he doesn't do something stupid like try and stop an Oro attack using only his face.
But now he can't walk away because this asshole just used his bat to hit the only person who's been something other than disdainful to him.
And that won't do.
Noah might be dead already for all the Demon knows, but the unbridled rage he's feeling won't allow him to stop and check. He launches himself at Whelk, ignoring the bat completely and tackling him to the ground, fully aiming to punch his face into a fine paste.
Re: heart down as well
Whelk, even in the dream, is only human. Flesh and blood and bone and as breakable as Noah.
It's strange, though. After the beating, he doesn't look like he's been hit with fists. He looks like he's been trampled, staring blankly at nothing with the one eye that isn't ruined, covered in hoofprints of beasts that have not existed for a very long time, if ever.
A few feet away, Noah draws a shaking, wet breath, a labored gasp as he tries to breathe.

"Shit. You still with me?" He kneels down next to Noah, hands awkwardly hovering over his prone form completely at a loss.
Should he sit him up? Does he.... what should he do?

That's how the dream goes.
Noah has to die, and whoever is there with him has to watch.
He's twitching, muscles trying to work even as death creeps in, unable to form the words to speak out of his ruined face. Small pained whimpers the only sound that can escape, eyes searching blankly until they find the Demon, afraid and pleading. The forest darkens around them with every second that ticks by, minutes counting down until the inevitable.
Noah doesn't want to die. There's no way to save him.

The Demon doesn't know what to do. Because there's nothing he can do. If he moves him he'll just injure him further, he doesn't have any comforting words because he'd just be lying and he doesn't lie. So instead he just kneels there and watches Noah as his life drains away. Watching him as he stops breathing. Internally seething in a frustrated rage because none of this should be happening.
He almost wants to go pummel Whelk some more just to make himself feel better.
But he can't. The dream ends with Noah and the Demon is kicked out violently. Back into the alleyway he'd been sitting in when he'd suddenly found himself in a forest in the first place.
