Who: Sonya Blade and Geralt
What: Patrol, possibly hunting Where: Outside the city
When: Backdated toFebruary 23rd
Warnings: TBD
She was outside the city when the rescue party went out. A part of her wished to join them, but she couldn't trust anything the Null had to say. They had a large enough group there for what was needed, and if they were successful and returned in relative safe condition, then her being there wouldn't make a difference. On the other hand, if something happened and their numbers were reduced, then they couldn't risk leaving the city without some means of defense.
Especially from what she'd seen on the network.
She'd armed up and stalking around the perimeter of the city, every so often coming across traps set the day before. With all that was happening, she had more faith in their own resources than what was provided by the gods.

Still, people needed food and Geralt was more than capable of hunting. Tracking was easy for him on account of his Witcher sense and that was exactly what had drawn him to Sonya's location.
Having been following the trail left behind by one of the few animals (or monsters) that lingered on the outskirts of the City, Geralt spotted the footprints left behind by Sonya's boots. It was curiosity really, that had him following her after all, what was a human doing out here alone?
As he neared where Sonya was, Geralt hung back a little, watching and listening as he decided whether to join her or leave her be. So was armed, seemed to know what she was doing but she was so close to stumbling upon a monster's nest with the current direction she was going.
"I wouldn't take that route if I was you."
He called out in that deep, gravelly voice of his, yellow cat-like eyes almost illuminated as he came into view from the shadows he'd been lingering in.

The frown deepened when she realized she didn't recognize the voice, a hand immediately going to her weapon. Not drawing it out of course, but there. "There's a trap I set a day ago."
If he was referring to the monster's nest just a few feet away. Well, that was why she set it there in the first place. The spot happened to also be next to where she knew was a popular feeding area, therefor the likelihood of being set was highly likely.

As he neared closer, slowing his stride and raising his hands a little near his chest, open-palmed to show he didn't intend to hurt her and also that he wasn't holding anything in them.
"See, the thing about that is, this kinda a monster is prone to making several nests. Leaves them abandoned so other, more opportunistic animals and monsters come and claim them for their own. It waits until the right moment before doubling back to attack in the dead of night. Unexpected and unannounced."
Geralt was a Witcher, it was his job to know monsters and those that were new to him? Well, he was expected to learn their ways and fast. That was exactly what he'd been doing here.
"You're more likely to catch it an easy meal or catch one of your own. No offence."
Walking past her, using his Witcher sense to search and track any movement from the direction Sonya was looking. She wasn't too far off a feeding party actually, she was smarter than he'd given her credit for.

She certainly wasn't about to explain herself to anyone she'd just met, and assumed she didn't know what she was doing. "Either way, one of the traps will be set and its food for the stores."
Her heckles pricked when he walked past her, but she refused to chase after him or take the bait (if that was meant to be bait). She'd survived here for months, that was all she needed and she didn't have to prove herself to a stranger.
The traps were set up a head, and the smell of blood catching on the wind. She had to remind herself that the traps had to be harsh, either to catch one of the stronger beasts or make a quick kill of the weaker ones. Hard as she was on the inside, she always tried to make her traps with the initiative of a quick kill.
She walked towards them, ignoring the larger man. Sure enough, one of her traps caught a large one, its head bashed in from the trigger.
