Sharon da Silva | Open & Closed

I. OPEN | From one side of the city to the other

[ Sharon tries to fight the awful, anxious desire to run, to hide, but the feeling eats away at her. It wasn’t enough to tell herself it was just the gods, that this wasn’t her despite the familiarity she had with the fear. It quickly overwhelms her and, once it has, she knows where she’d be safest: in the fog. She can easily handle the nightmares from the area but she knows it’ll deter most others and, if it doesn’t, she can better protect herself there. She’ll have more of an advantage.

She keeps to the shadows as she cautiously makes her way toward the Silent Hill zone. When she spots someone, she darts into a building with a silent prayer she wasn’t seen in return, heart pounding in her ears, gripping a short blade as tightly as she can, prepared to lash out. Anyone could be after her, anyone could hurt her, and she wasn’t about to be a victim.

If one keeps their distance, they can follow her but they’ll soon find themselves following her into a fog and she’ll quickly catch on where things may start to get dark for any Rage affected. ]

II. CLOSED | Geralt

[ It doesn’t matter to Sharon how or why this man came into what she considered her domain but she could see the weapons he carried from the area she hid, pressed against a crumbling wall, peering out from a broken window. In her fear addled brain, he cut an intimidating figure against the fog (though he likely would even if she were unaffected) and Sharon quickly considers her best options here; her best bet would be to scare him away, take advantage of her abilities, the blessing, and the environment or she could just let the fog and Otherworld (never far from taking over) take care of him.

She chews her lower lip, heart pounding. She truly hates this feeling but it’s so all-consuming. Her best bet, for her and any she’s taken in, would be to go all out.

With that in mind, she acts, activating the blessing, the stranger her only focus. In addition to the natural effects of the zone, this would would be a helpful boost.

The first thing Geralt may notice is the density of the fog. It becomes thicker the further he walks and then there are sounds in the distance, shouting but impossible to discern what’s being said, if anything at all. There appear to be, every twenty or so feet, remnants of pyres, skeletons hanging from them. Beneath each one is a cardboard sign with words like SINNER, THIEF, TRAITOR, and WITCH. Though, strangely, some of the signs seem smudged, as if the word WITCH was once something more.

The whole area will quickly start to feel oppressive and, if he looks close, he may spot Sharon from where she hides but, if he does, the strange cries in the distance seem to grow louder, more shrill, and maybe mildly familiar. In the fog, it’s hard to see the smoke in the distance but it’s there, along with the sharp, acrid scent of burning flesh. ]

III. CLOSED | George, Jo

[ Sharon felt an immediate relief when she came across both Jo and George. She knew the zone could be terrifying, manipulative without her input, but with her she could keep them safe; with her here, they had an advantage and she with them.

The fog is thick and oppressive and strange noises seem to echo around them, threatening, haunting, wrong, but compared to the very real people hunting them, they were nothing. Should they look to the windows, they may see ghostly faces watching them. It’s best to ignore them. ]

I’ve got a hideout, a place we should be safe, even if the area changes. [ She tells them with a somewhat hush to her voice. There could be no denying she was afraid, terrified, but she was holding it together. She desperately wanted a level of safety that she knew was impossible for any of them to achieve, not while the gods were affecting them. ] And I think most people will stay away.

[ She hopes, at least. ]
