( to say that a lot has been happening lately would be putting it mildly. really mildly. like taco bell sauce mildly — but that isn't the point. not really, because with this whole planet-jumping thing and the aftermath of recent events lance has found himself a little more spastic than usual.

and you know that's saying something.

it doesn't help that so much time spent in a climate-controlled ship has made him far less immune to heat and humidity than he had been at home, and he may or may not have taken a couple of cold showers earlier in the day to try to stave off the way his clothing is beginning to stick to him in very, very uncomfortable places; it isn't often that they're all in the same place at the same time, but somehow, miraculously they're all in the living room and while they all seem immersed in … whatever they're doing, a sudden and tremendous idea pops into his head.

because he has had enough of this. time for a morale boost. or. something. ) I've got an idea, guys. ( he starts out, sweeping sweat-damp hair off of his forehead and setting them all with a determined look. ) When was the last time any of you played Truth or Dare? ( a beat, and his mouth pulls to the side. ) With the exception of Allura. ( he turns to look at her. ) Unless you had something like that on Altea?

( lance. it would really help if you explained what it was to her before you started asking questions.

[To say the last month has been a lot would be an understatement. An emotional person by nature, Allura doesn't really need any god's help messing and muddling around but that exactly what she got. Thus, it's nice, for the moment, to have some peace, time that feels normal (or as normal as things got around them), and even if it's unbearably hot and humid, she's happy for the quiet time in their upside-down house.

Speaking of hot and humid— it's not so much that she's immersed in braiding her hair when Lance speaks up, but if she doesn't, it won't be long before she's immersed in her hair. Luckily she has some help in the form of four small mice, who continue their work even as she pauses, looking up to blink at Lance,]

“Truth or Dare?” [Her confused tone is as much of an answer as anything, but she shakes her head anyway, sending the mice scrambling to hang onto strands of her hair as they're swung in wide arcs around her. ~~Sorry mice.~~] Is like your Killbot Phantom game?

[Also struggling with sweaty humid hair, albeit to a much lesser degree than Allura, is Keith. His taste in black clothing seems to have finally backfired on him also as it's doing a wonderful job of trapping in all this wonderful heat that would have been nice on the ice planet but is just making him grump like it's his job on this one. He's sitting cross legged with a bowl of ice plopped in his lap, with a fistful of mullet in one hand and his Marmora knife in the other like he's seriously considering pulling a Mulan here.]

Not a video game. It's ... ugh. [Actually making that noise, yep. Apparently it's too hot to explain things so he just gives up and turns his attention back to the original offender.]

Lance, why are we doing this?

[ Shiro had been staring at the conspiracy board, trying to think strategy and failing to think strategy because the new climate is frying his brain. Thus his actual immersion is mostly just with the act watching Keith and placing mental bets on whether or not he'll go through with the haircut. The part of Shiro that is betting on yes is also trying to figure out where to find scissors, because a knife-cut is probably going to need some fine trimming in the long run.

The deliberation is cut short by Lance's idea. Truth or dare... Well, Keith is already cross-examining Lance on the idea, so Shiro doesn't have to. Instead he turns to Allura. ]

It's a party game. You pick one of the two options presented and either get a question or a dare that you need to execute. I haven't played it in...

[ And this makes him think just a little too long. ]

... probably 5 years?

[ So well, this is happening and Shiro hasn't run for the hills. He's sitting on the floor, back resting against the couch and looking into the round. ]

Alright, go ahead. Ask.

Do you have any better suggestions to get our minds off the heat? ( pointed in keith's direction, and they're all probably actively wondering if he's going to go full-on mulan with his hair but it's not the most important thing in the world when he thinks he's come up with a pretty darn good idea.

he gives a nod of thanks in shiro's general direction for the explanation, looking back to allura, then to keith and back again. ) I mean, it's got to be better than just sitting here suffering, right? ( he rubs at the back of his neck, which is already sweaty and grimy and gross again and he hates it, and not only because he doesn't want to think about what it's doing to his pores. )

[At least Allura looks happy about it.]

[Do it, Keith. if anyone understands the suffering he's going through, it's Allura. (Except she would never dream to put a knife to hers.)

With the psychic grumbles of mice bidding her to hold still, she settles more comfortably, curling her legs up under her on the couch and getting back to carefully combing through the curled plaits of hair before handing it off to Chulatt who runs it back to Chuchule and Plachu who weaves it through the braid in progress before handing it off to Platt who anchors the whole thing. It's a pretty impressive system they have going on.]

I think it sounds like fun. [That's one vote for Lance.] What happens if you get the question wrong?

[For some reason Allura is going first. ~~Because I have to have at least one question she does wrong.~~]

Lance. I dare you... to do a handstand?

[:D?]

( allura. darling princess.

she looks so pleased with herself that he can't just. outright correct her.

so he just laughs and shakes his head. ) You have to ask 'truth or dare' first. And I have to pick which one I want to do. ( not that he totally couldn't do a handstand right now if he wanted! )

So, if I picked dare, then you could dare me to do a handstand.

( he's making you do this, keith. )

[She doesn't look chagrined as much as contemplative over her understanding of the rules, curling a hand at the edge of her chin.

Trying again:] Lance. Do you choose truth or dare?

[The conversation seems to be distracting him from making a definitive decision on the mullet's longevity. For now he releases the fistful of hair to gesture with his hand at Lance.]

Find some parts to build an air conditioner?

[Again, where are Pidge and Hunk when they're needed? Meanwhhile space woof comes trotting over to put his snout in that bowl of ice. It's a Mood. He turns slightly towards Allura and Shiro.]

So that's two votes for Lance's idea. Shiro are you playing?

[Don't betray him now, bro.]

[He knew this was coming, but all the time in the world hasn't actually given him a strong case for which of the two is the lesser of two evils here. He has ALL the faith in the world that Lance has the ability to pick both the most embarrasing dares AND the most embarrassing truth questions. Can't have lived with all those siblings without them teaching him a thing or two about this kind of stuff.....]

Why do you get to go first?

at least she doesn't look as put out as she could. this is a good sign.

he makes a show of mulling it over, though he knows he's going to pick dare, just because that was what she started out with, and he ain't no wuss when it comes to dares. )

[ That's two questions directed at Shiro at once, but with the mullet safely out of danger zone, that's some capacity in his fried brain that is freed up for fielding them both. He'll start with Allura's. ]

There's not really any right or wrong - it's not fact questions, but questions that indulge curiosity about one another's thoughts and lives.

[ Which could be quite interesting to play with an alien, hm... And that line of thought is already dooming all of Keith's hopes.

Shiro shrugs. ]

( forgive this boy right here for practically beaming at shiro's response, which means he turns that grin on keith near-immediately and looks about as triumphant as he ever has before.

he won't gloat. seriously, he won't. keith is already grumpy and he doesn't want to make it worse, especially now that their resident space woof has taken over his bowl of ice.

he briefly turns his attention to allura. ) It's a really good way to get to know more about people, assuming they choose truth. ( and then he turns back to keith, expression softening just a bit around the edges. ) C'mon, Keith. Please? It'll be fun, I swear.

( oh god he said please, the world might just end. )

( he might be the youngest of all his siblings, but that just means he's learned a whole heck of a lot of things over the years when it comes to both getting things he wants and prying things out of people when they don't want to give them; not that he's about to strong-arm keith into anything he doesn't really want to do — if he doesn't want to answer certain questions, he'll surely back off — but he really does think this is going to do them all some good. )

It was my idea? I dunno. ( he shrugs. ) You're stalling.
