Well, that's enough permission for her to bound into the dirt (and yes her pigtails pool into it but isn't that what bath time is for) and sit down next to the boys, drawing her knees close to her chest as she tilts her head up to watch the display with a beaming smile on her face. Fireworks were so much fun, but she so rarely gets to watch them - only on holidays when the town agrees to set aside an evening for launching a whole display of them into the sky.

But then one of the boys - the one who let her sit and watch - starts sounding worried and it drags her attention from the glittering colours in the sky for a minute. "Mmm, nope. I don't think so." Actually, she's never even seen this place before. The fields never used to go out to a place like this, she doesn't think. But they're awfully large and maybe she's just never run far enough before. "My dad wouldn't let me out this far if it was."
