"Hmm." Gansey doesn't speak anymore. He's silent and still until Noah's breathing evens into sleep, and for a little while after that. He should let it go until morning, but the longer he lies there, the more he finds that he just can't. His mind has gripped onto this idea and, like a loose tooth, he can't stop poking at it. He has to know. He needs to understand, or it will just get bigger and bigger in his mind until it all comes toppling down.
