Intro Log: Death Comes

Who: New arrivals and everyone else!
What: The intro log for July.
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: July 10th-15th
Warnings: Deathclaws. That's all you really need to know.

As usual, the new arrivals in Hadriel will be waking up on the dirt ground of the colosseum, and as usual, they won't be waking up alone. This month brings coat hangers of all shapes and, uh, sizes strewn about the colloseum floor around all of the new arrivals.

Get up, get out, meet and greet, find some new exciting interior decorating options, but don't forget about the more prominent threat: the (newly) local deathclaws roaming about in the inner halls of the arena. These deathclaws are vicious bipedal creatures with long arms ending in curved talons, horns ripe for goring and, of course, teeth as long as fingers. These animals have been engineered to be as deadly as they can possibly be, so you might want to buddy up before taking one on.

Have you escaped from the deathclaws? Made a few friends? Not died horribly? Great! Feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, find a new monster, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

[ She doesn't have Natasha's unimpressed eyebrows, but Wanda is doing a good impression. ]

What makes you think something will not?

I never said anything would arrive from my world or it wouldn't. I'm simply curious.

[ however, based on how huffy and frowny he is, it's super easy to see that Wanda hit the nail on the head. ]

[ Then there is obviously something to worry about from his world. Wanda isn't about to press if he won't talk, and she's far from the person who'd merely have reached in and taken it from his head. Everyone has secrets. She gives him a searching look, however, eyes narrowed, and simply says, ]

I read minds.

[ Everyone has secrets, but he better not lie about it when it matters. ]

[pullback]

[ Paaaaaaaaaaause. Because she's gotta be joking. Right? ]

Surely you're joking.

[ but then at the same time, he came from a world of vampires and witches and things that Victor didn't think existed to begin with. She might not be joking. ]

[scarletcast]

[ B| ]

I am not.

[pullback]

[ pause

paaaaaaause

paaaaaaaaaaaaaaause

no, fuck it, Victor gives up, let's tell her. ]

My world has vampires and witches. I'd hate to see them arrive in this world.

[scarletcast]

[ She nods. ]

There is no way to predict, but we can be ready for them.

[pullback]

If those creatures show up, I'll certainly tell everyone their strengths and weaknesses.

[ key word here is "if". Victor's still trying to get used to the 'everybody's okay with monsters' thing. ]

[scarletcast]

That would help. Thank you.

[ She waves in the direction of a building that's much better put together than the others around. ]

There is the clinic.

[pullback]

So it is. [ And oh thank God, it actually looks like it's in one piece. Victor's expression is still that same calm expression, though there's a hint of a smile. ]

Thank you for your help, Miss— [ wait a moment, he doesn't know her name. ] Well I'm, ah, terribly sorry, I forgot to introduce myself. I am Doctor Victor Frankenstein.

[ said with the confidence of someone who knows JACK SHIT about the popular perception of Frankenstein. ]

[ Wanda's surprise is brief. The year — it's possible he's the real thing, but raising the dead after all she's seen is not so implausible. ]

Wanda Maximoff.

[pullback]

In that case, pleasure to meet you, Miss Maximoff. I do hope you'll contact me if you need any sort of medical help—once I'm more fully settled, of course.

[ Rome wasn't built in a day, Victor didn't get accustomed to this weird place overnight. ]

[scarletcast]

[ She nods. ]

There is little anaesthetic, if your patients require some, I will handle it.

[pullback]

[ Well that's confusing. There's a pause but then Victor gets it. ]

Ah, because you read minds. I assume that part of your ability involves targeting specific portions of the brain? Lessening pain to the parietal lobe or something of that nature.

[scarletcast]

Yes. I stop them from feeling it. I can put them to sleep as well, and keep them there.

[pullback]

How fascinating.

[ don't mind Victor, he's just staring at Wanda with...something that's kind of like creepy fascination. Because her abilities are bonkers and he wants to see how they work. ] I'd love to see a demonstration at some point.

[scarletcast]

[ He's not Strucker or List. Curiosity is not a crime. Wanda says, with a wry smile, ]

Are you volunteering?

[pullback]

I suppose I am. [ said with a little smile of his own. ] That is, assuming you would be able to fix whatever you do.

[scarletcast]

Most of the effects are temporary.

[ She could do something permanently damaging, but Wanda largely doesn't. ]

We can speak to Dr. Banner about creating a controlled environment.

[pullback]

That would be ideal—perhaps Dr. Banner could also take notes on the proceedings? After all, an empirical source would be just as valuable as first hand experience.

[scarletcast]

[ She gestures inside. ]

Hopefully we shall have things set up quickly.

[ NOPE shit is gonna happen and it's gonna be a while before Victor even contacts Banner to begin with. ]
