Intro Log: Death Comes

Who: New arrivals and everyone else!
What: The intro log for July.
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: July 10th-15th
Warnings: Deathclaws. That's all you really need to know.

As usual, the new arrivals in Hadriel will be waking up on the dirt ground of the colosseum, and as usual, they won't be waking up alone. This month brings coat hangers of all shapes and, uh, sizes strewn about the colloseum floor around all of the new arrivals.

Get up, get out, meet and greet, find some new exciting interior decorating options, but don't forget about the more prominent threat: the (newly) local deathclaws roaming about in the inner halls of the arena. These deathclaws are vicious bipedal creatures with long arms ending in curved talons, horns ripe for goring and, of course, teeth as long as fingers. These animals have been engineered to be as deadly as they can possibly be, so you might want to buddy up before taking one on.

Have you escaped from the deathclaws? Made a few friends? Not died horribly? Great! Feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, find a new monster, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

[Oops. Guess he should have spent more time messing around with this thing.]

This phone's newer than mine. I don't have it completely figured out yet.

[He pulls it out of his pocket and starts poking around, looking for the maps. Juuuuust a second...]

Okay...okay, I think I found it. It's this, right?

[He turns the phone around to show her, yes, a map.]

[Maketh peers at him curiously.] But your world has such technology?

[Enough that he knows it by name. Interesting.]

Oh, yes. That's correct.

[OK, cool, he knows where to go now. He'll be by after the monster-hunting and city beautification event is over, and he'll complain about the paperwork he's got to do, but he'll buckle down and do it. When it comes down to it, Ichigo works hard and is pretty reliable.]

Huh? Yeah, we've got phones. Your world didn't?

[mismanagement]

[Maketh shakes her head.] No, no. I mean, we did once, but such technology is outdated.

[By generations.]

It's hard to tell what people are familiar with. That's all.

[He stares.]

So you're from the future?! That's pretty cool.

[mismanagement]

Perhaps. [Maketh smiles.] My world is--well, it's different from the others that people come from. Tell me, do you only have one planet?

[liketeenspirit]

...no, we have nine. Well, actually, eight I guess, since they decided Pluto wasn't a planet anymore a couple years ago...

[He's misunderstood.]

[mismanagement]

[Well, that's a decent start. Maketh nods.] I see. That's more than I've come to expect. Space travel is largely unheard of in most worlds. But that you have eight habitable planets is--good, I suppose.

....oh.

No, uh...they're not really habitable. They're all too hot, too cold, or made of gas. We've gone to space -- we just haven't really sent anyone past the moon. I think we've sent unmanned probes out pretty far into the solar system, though.

[Somehow, though, he gets the feeling she won't find that impressive at all...]

[mismanagement]

[Maketh blinks.] Oh! I apologize, I misunderstood.

[Apparently his world is still in its primitive stage. A shame, but nothing to be done for it.] Not many people here come from a place like mine, I've found.
