Intro Log: Arm Yourself

Who: New arrivals and everyone else!
What: The intro log for August
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: August 10th-15th
Warnings: Stalkers, newbies, and cute loot!

Sleeping on the cold dirt ground of the colosseum is enough to make anyone uncomfortable. It might be a little worse this month than others, as some of you may be waking up on top of or around various self defense devices (btw: that last one is a taser).

Come to think of it, you'll probably need those. Also in the colosseum and already stalking you are... uh, well, stalkers from the Borderlands game series. Stalkers come armed with claws, teeth, and sharp tails- and what's more, they can turn invisible to sneak up on you. Zap them with your newfound taser or stab them with your jewelry comb knife or just run away screaming- we won't judge, but you have to do something or else they'll kill you and eat your corpse and all sorts of unfortunate things.

Good luck finding a way out. Maybe you can make some friends along the way.

All done and escaped from the clutches of the colosseum? Awesome! Feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, find a new monster, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

[Surprisingly, the child is a least being honest, in that remark. No matter how many people fit into that definition, they're fairly comfortable in that assumption. They're fine.

Looks like names are a thing that matters around here, after all.]

Frisk. It's- nice to meet you.

[Just short of sounding like a question; as per the usual social norms that go along with this sort of thing, they'll just. Stick out a hand for her to take, as well.]

[Sometimes you have to FIGHT. It's not about liking or disliking the notion, it's just something that has to be done. A lack of MERCY to SPARE a potential victim, one last stroke of a knife that brings queens and kings to their knees- but they'll still be good, won't they?

Sans looks less than comfortable; sweat beading on his brow in a fashion they've never seen before. They could do a little better; place one life before their own.

There's no other options, right now. Sans calls, and they FLEE. Fumbling with the off switch as they stumble into his frame, holding it far, far away from him and themself. Not inclined to drop it, but hey.

What a talkative creature. He doesn't even leave much room for Rey to interject. At times she opens her mouth to speak, but then just waits for the bird to finish. And by then, she's already curious about one thing.

"Hang on. You taught yourself how to talk?"

Granted, his vocabulary is much too advance for him to be a simple bird parroting phrases someone taught him.

Still, it's strange.

And impressive.

[Just Sans. That could mean a whole lot of things for them, and a curiosity of whether or not the judgement that came down on Chara would affect Frisk. They were ending while Frisk just began...

It'll probably burn all of them, one way or another. But instead of dwelling on it, Chara turns to Frisk's next comment.]

We should not. There is no exit, however.

[They wanted to make that clear. Otherwise Frisk would look. They didn't read minds but the child before them was a somewhat easy read, having lived inside them for a while.

And someone with such a low LV may not survive. Why Chara feels this way...they really don't know, however.]

[They remove their arms, perhaps a little too quickly and smile. Interesting to still feel conflicted about doing that.]

I am unsure if you would find it useful, but there are rooms to stay here.

Everyone's some kinda monster or another. My brother 'n I are the only skeletons we know, though.

[There is nothing to suggest that this man is in any way fine. This is workable, though. He can work with this. He hates work, but he can work with it.]

But hey, don't worry about it. I don't bite.

[Yep, this is their cue to skedaddle. The thing is still spitting in obvious agony behind them, but he don't much care to examine whether that's gonna stick. He catches the kid clumsily when they nearly crash into him, and that's about all the warning they're gonna get before he worms a fingerbone into the nearest patch of non-space in the vicinity and torques it.

The transition is abrupt and immediate, like any one of his little shortcuts. It's a short burst, dropping the pair of them off just outside the colosseum - experience tells him they've got a little time before those new beasts start finding their way out into the surrounding caves, doubtless preoccupied by the lure of new meat.

Sans grins at the kid, his smile a shade uneasy, relief mixed with no small degree of doubt and trepidation.]

Heya, kid.

[ not everyone is? But if they aren't ghouls then...

but he sort of doesn't want to meet other ghouls, in a way. It's not like he can just ask every person if they are one, either. Eventually, he'll have to figure it out, but right now that's not a priority. ]

What else is there? Besides humans.

...monster...? [ what does that mean? ] What do you mean, monster? [ because Kaneki's definition of monsters are "ghouls", that's the first thing he thinks of ]

Well, at least there is that... [ about the biting. He smiles a little, even if it's a tiny smile ]

Many. Monsters and creatures of different shapes and sizes. Some even look human. Some are even demons.

[Although they only know of one, being themselves. There is a difference when they say 'Monsters', however.]

Not human, basically. But no worries, most of us are friendly. I mean, the ones in the colosseum aren't, but they don't really count as "monsters" where I come from.

[He's rapidly getting used to explaining the fact that "monster" is a species and not an insult where he comes from. And hey, look at that, he's even scored a smile! That's gotta count for something.]

What does it count as a monster, then?

[ look he really doesn't want to call you a monster because even though you are weird and everything right now is crazy, Sans has been pretty cool so far ]

I mean, really, their taste for comedic timing is pretty uniformly awful, so I just call 'em Philistines.

Firo opens his mouth to list several alternatives to straight-up shooting him (Even if, well, some of those alternatives might wind up going down a similar road. He doesn't have to admit that.) but stops to listen to the rest of what Sato's saying.

"What 'videos'?"

He knows the word gets kicked around with the network a lot, but he can't imagine that kind of inane stuff is what this guy means. He's pretty sure a guy who casually shot him isn't the type to get upset over that stuff, so what gives?

"Well, yeah. You spend so much time trapped in a box and you pick something like that up. Not much else to do, anyway.

"Besides, the only person I had to listen to was the old man who kept me in there. And boy, could he ramble. Always had a story to tell. Then he'd start drinking. Then he'd fall asleep in the middle of the story... Then I'd never find out what happened to the stranded sailor and his scurvy-ridden dog!

"...er, not that I cared about any of his crazy stories. They just helped build my colorful vocabulary."

[ Crow didn't think about that. Since he'll be sticking around a while, he should probably find somewhere to stay. Trees aren't as great when there isn't any sunshine. ]

Yeah. I might need one of those so I don't freeze my feathers off in the... night? Does this place have a night?

[ Oh boy. This lady knows a lot. He better stick with her a while.

He jumps up with a strong flap to get up to her arm, inching over to her shoulder so she won't have to keep it propped up for him. ] Thanks!

If the water isn't safe then what do you guys drink around here? Sounds like unsanitary conditions living in a cave without food or water.

"English, Latin, and Greek. I have passing familiarity with Arabic as well." In the sense that he knows somebody who knows Arabic and all the words in Arabic he knows are about fallen angels but hey, still counts. Victor Frankenstein is waaay too prideful to begin with.

"What about yourself?"

That would make a lot of people "monsters".

Eat tiny bits of it yourself. That's one way to tell if it's poisonous and the reason why Victor got sick a few times. But there's another way to go about it and that's the way that Victor's going to tell Rin.

"There are all sorts of monsters around this place and some of them eat these sorts of fruit. The easiest way to tell if something's poisonous is to see what the monsters eat and what they stay away from."

[ that sounds really scary, actually. Demons? Monsters?

Why can't his life just be easier.

Kaneki looks away, down at his hands ]

What are we even supposed to do while we are here? Fight for our lives all the time?

Oh, they wish.

[He chuckles. Not gonna get into the semantics of monsterhood just yet.]

Anyway. I'm Sans. Sans the skeleton.

Ken kaneki. It's nice to meet you, Sans... san? [ that sounds weird. Still kaneki nods his head like the polite person he is ]

I'm sorry for freaking out.

[ When the stalker lunges, Victor can't help it: he cringes away from the stalker, backing up, only to be a bit relieved as Clegane stabs the monster. Oh thank God. Unfortunately, he winces as the fangs sink into Clegane's leg. Victor can't help but 'tut-tut' a little as he looked at Clegane's bleeding leg. ]

Do you want me to tend to your leg now or back at the clinic?

[ look! he's useful! ]
