Intro Log: Arm Yourself

What: The intro log for August
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: August 10th-15th
Warnings: Stalkers, newbies, and cute loot!

Sleeping on the cold dirt ground of the colosseum is enough to make anyone uncomfortable. It might be a little worse this month than others, as some of you may be waking up on top of or around various self defense devices (btw: that last one is a taser).

Come to think of it, you'll probably need those. Also in the colosseum and already stalking you are... uh, well, stalkers from the Borderlands game series. Stalkers come armed with claws, teeth, and sharp tails- and what's more, they can turn invisible to sneak up on you. Zap them with your newfound taser or stab them with your jewelry comb knife or just run away screaming- we won't judge, but you have to do something or else they'll kill you and eat your corpse and all sorts of unfortunate things.

Good luck finding a way out. Maybe you can make some friends along the way.

All done and escaped from the clutches of the colosseum? Awesome! Feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, find a new monster, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

[ Sandor will absolutely not give a shit and encourage Dean to drink well past his drinking capacity. It's going to be a very ugly morning for the both of them, that's for damn sure! ]

Don't seem like there's much around here to get lucky about. All I've seen is men. Some could pass as girls, though. If you close your eyes and avoid touching their hanging bits.

[ It's a regular old sausage party up in this place. And Arya. But he's conveniently not going to bring up Arya. She's enough like a boy to not count as a girl, anyway. ]

Which sure proves my theory that we're in hell. Even if people claim it ain't that.

We do. I will vouch for them. [Of course Rashid doesn't know her very well, but Maketh likes to think she's made a good impression.] And you will have to tell me about that sometime.

[Says Bruce, serenely, as he takes out a pocket knife to get open a tin of some kind of flaky fish.]

I work at the clinic, right now.

[Chances are she has made a good impression, if the smile on Rashid's face is any indication.]

What? [Her expressionless façade breaks with an incredulous look.] No. Not really. Why would you ask that?

We luckily have both! Some of the architecture and design is a bit on the odd side. Nothing I've ever really seen before. But that keeps it interesting, anyway.

[Elmer will prattle on as he leads Sato towards the strange houses and apartments, which are close to the shops. He points them out as they approach.]

There they are! I'm in 1403. A four-bedroom house, all to myself, since my roommate up and disappeared on us. So if you're a solitary fella, there's a lot of space. If you'd rather roommates, there's plenty of opportunity for that too.

Why does hell have to be believable? All men die but not all men go to hell.

[ If Arya has learned anything in the House of Black and White, it's to question death, and question what comes after. ]

It hasn't warped my head at all. [ Arya chews her lip a little. It hasn't warped her head now. But sometimes Sorrow takes over, or Rage, or Fear, and she's powerless to stop it. ]

But you better be careful of your head. The gods here can get inside.

"You won't be able to get back to that apartment if it isn't here." She isn't sure if he's new or not, but she just wants to point it out. In case he doesn't realize it.

"This one you can eat without cooking or anything." She adds helpfully, in case he was hungry enough to eat right now.

Having just come from Alcatraz before he wound up here, Firo understands that line of thinking completely. He snorts, "You can say that again. The bars look different, but they're still there."

"Plus, it's not like how it is at a real prison, but they do screw with us a lot here. You've gotta watch out for that. Sometimes it's just stupid stuff, but other times they send monsters all over the place."

[mismanagement]

[Maketh smiles.] The entire guard will be meeting in two days. However, I am going to confirm with my second tonight. Perhaps you would like to meet him?

[ More than can be said about most men. ]

You know a little twat? Scrawny little thing. Came to the Colosseum with a bag of medical tools and a pompous attitude, ready to help people but being a total cunt about it.

[ He's describing Victor Frankenstein. But from that incredibly descriptive set of words he strung together, it's probably not very obvious. Unless Frankenstein is a twat to everyone. ]

Forget about the bloody gods. I met this one cunt in the colosseum --

[ Sandor starts to say, starts to recount his experience with Ushahin. But then pride rears its ugly head. He doesn't want to admit to how frightening it was, and he doesn't want Arya to bother with that demon or whatever he is. ]

-- well, it doesn't really matter. When did you get so religious anyway? Talking about gods as though they actually exist.

I can't wait to meet the rest of the crew, too.

[Someone's getting more excited by the second.]

"Like the ones we saw earlier... or do we get attacked by geth and goombas for a little variety?" he asks cheerily, checking out the cavernous ceiling. It's still a little funny to talk about monsters in the sense of actual creatures.

When they reach the bar, Firo steps inside and looks over his shoulder at Sato as he holds the door for him. He puffs out his cheeks. "Are you makin' fun of me? I have no idea what those things are, but I'm not kiddin' about the monsters here. The ones that went after us before are new, but there's all kinds."

It's a playground for someone who likes those things, but Firo is not one of those people. It's more of a pain in the ass.

Sato chuckles, looking around for a nice quiet corner table. That's always the best spot for a nice private conversation. As he eases himself into the seat, he can't help but ask pleasantly, "Why does it bother you? Why not make the best of a bad situation and have a little fun with it? You're immortal too, after all, so there's really no harm done in the end."

"Bother?" Because nobody likes being made fun of, obviously, he wants to protest. It's just that when he opens his mouth to do so, he realizes that this guy's probably talking about something else. His jaw's left hanging open slightly as he tries to figure out if he really means what Firo thinks he is.

But figuring stuff out is for losers, so Firo gives up after a second and shakes his head. "What the hell're you talkin' about?"

["Half a dozen" makes it sound disconcertingly common. L swallows, unsure just how to feel about that when he's unlikely to be recognized, but very likely to run into an enemy if it's any given person from his world. They simply outnumbered his allies so vastly that the odds are fairly damning. While he bested them all on their own, at one point or another in his career, dealing with as many as six might prove too much.

It would be a challenge, anyway...

He sips the tea, makes a face. Sets it aside, looking troubled.]

It's so bitter.

[He glances restlessly around the room, eyes settling on the first stethoscope he sees. He wants to hear, for himself, that his heart is still beating from an outside party, just to confirm that it's the case.]

"The monsters. No matter what they do, they can't kill you, correct? So what I'm saying is that you shouldn't be so worried about them. Go out and have fun. Live a little and enjoy your immortality," he smiles, pointing out what is, to him, the obvious.

He's one of those, then. Firo's mouth thins to a line as he comes to that realization, and he curses his luck for running into yet another weirdo. Does he have a neon sign on his head calling them from far and wide? If he believed in such things, he'd wonder if he's cursed.

He leans back in his chair and shakes his head. "Sorry, but I think we might have different ideas of 'fun.' If you wanna go raise hell and get shredded, be my guest, but dyin' for no reason doesn't really appeal to me."

A beat. "And I'm not worried about 'em."

That might make people think that he's scared of them, and Firo just can't let that stand. Besides, he's gone toe-to-toe with them before and come out fine.

[Sato just takes it all in stride, checking everything out as they keep moving along.]

Oho, more than just an apartment. I'm surprised nobody's come by to steal some of those free bedrooms. Who wouldn't want such a nice young fellow for a roommate?

"Oh, of course. My mistake." Sato replies easily. He's not really that interested in an actual drink, so he settles in the chair, leaning back. Firo's basically useless, then. Everyone always needs a reason.

He'll figure out his plan of attack once he;s used to the place.

"How many times have you died, if you don't mind my asking?" he adds curiously.

[ It's almost like no time has passed. Almost, because Sandor thinks he's talking to Arya Stark, and he is, for the most part. But there's still a kernel of Arya that's no one, a blur of names and faces that mean nothing, that do not belong to her, that she can never have. Still, her lip twists in the barest of smiles when Sandor mentions some cunt, then drops the smile when he stops speaking.

His question isn't one that Arya wants to answer, or that she even really knows how to answer. Gods aren't real, but they do stand for things that are much greater. The lord of death might not be a proper lord, but Arya has served Him all the same. But Sandor doesn't need to know that. She has to be a wolf, not an acolyte. Instead, she shows him her glowing box. ]

They might not be real gods. I'm not religious. That'd be stupid, the gods haven't answered any dumb prayer ever. But you can talk to the ones here. Through this.
