The fun thing about waking up in Hadriel is that you never quite know what you'll be running into. Are you going to find horrific seven foot tall monsters? Or cute little lizards that stab you? Forget silly questions like 'where is this' and 'why am I here', it's time to ask the important things like 'oh my god what the fuck is that thing!?'
That thing, as it turns out, is a varren. Varren are opportunistic dog-like creatures that hunt in packs and prefer to eat their prey alive if they can. They have sharp claws, bulbous eyes, and instead of fur, are covered in scales instead of fur. If you see one, that's generally a good indicator that the pack isn't far behind, so be careful and find a safety buddy or you might find yourself outnumbered.
But don't let that wear you down! Also scattered around the colosseum are some crazy shades. Pick your accessory and look like a sci-fi hero, an asshole, or just someone who really likes steampunk.
Now, for those of you who are new to the city but not like, new-new (I'm looking at you, fourth wallers), you will not be transported to the colosseum if you don't want to partake in the newbie trials. Instead, you're free to continue exploring the city at your own pace- a task which would probably be helped a lot by that handy new phone that Hope provides you all after the influx of newbies bursts into the city. Enjoy!
Found your fashion? Got a little chewed on by some rabid fishdogs? Got your new phone? You're well on your way to being a full fledged member of the city! Feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!► This log covers November 10th-13th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication and the newbie guide installed.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!

Ever could we use more guardsmen. We run daily patrols, provide help when sought out and, during crises, muster to defend the populace. We also keep detailed records. Every guardsman is expected to write a report at the end of their shift. Should that be acceptable to you...

More than acceptable. Set me a patrol and I shall see the land protected. Call on me to defend those who cannot defend themselves and I will run to your aid.
(He has seen his worst fear; he has faced it and somehow, he still lives.)

Welcome to the Guard.
[It is as simple as that.]
Now let us see to that sword. What is your preferred art?
[He resumes walking as he indulges his professional curiosity with that question. His own preference is evident: the arming sword and heater shield, though he is well-versed in an array of medieval weaponry.]

I prefer Elvish swords and light armor. (Unless he is facing the Enemy (or Enemies, rather).) I doubt you have the swords I am accustomed to here, but I can make do with those that Men craft.
(Until he makes his own.)
Do you have a Forge?

[But Henry gives Celebrimbor a truly eager look now, as though he's just stumbled upon the holy grail.]
You smith?
[Because there was a time when he had to repair his own armour -- not the suit he currently wears, which is a replica of his old made by Hope after his initial harness was ruined beyond repair -- and his skill is lamentable compared to an actual blacksmith. You make do when there is no other choice.]
We can build a forge, or request one of the gods.

(Humbly, he will never say he is the second best Smith on Arda. The best is his own grandfather, Fëanor.)
I would be glad for such a place. The Forge was always my home.

[Even without knowing how great a blacksmith Celebrimbor is, just having one is a huge boon in Henry's eyes. Nor has he ever lost the joy of new weapons and armour, of admiring their workmanship and their feel in action.]
For now you may cast judgement on Rage's work.
[When he comes to the door of the armoury, Henry pushes it open and holds it for Celebrimbor. As the elf is injured, it seems best to.]
