monster-free; he can't sense demons, or capricious gods, or the fae-kind
(elves, weres, vampires, and the like). Just somewhere animal-like monsters
are not.
He stops, abruptly, tipping his head to listen very hard. A fight, a
tangle, a crossing of paths? He can't tell for a moment, struggling to sort
out the overlapping thoughts.
