INTRO LOG: A TAXING JOURNEY

Who: New arrivals and everyone else!
What: The intro log for December. Watch your step!
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: December 10th-17th
Warnings: Taxxon-related violence, teeth shoes, general unpleasantness, mass confusion.

You wake up in the dust of the colosseum with no shoes on, regardless of the state of your feet when you arrived. There's dust covering your clothing and in your hair, but other than that, there's no signs of injury or bruising. You're also not alone- nearby, there are others, either still passed out or just waking up like you are. Feel free to take solace in that fact. Or don't- some of you aren't human, and are clearly not great people either. No offense.

To your left, there is a door in the wall of the arena, supposedly leading to the halls which will then show you to your freedom. To your right, and scattered haphazardly on the ground, are a myriad of teeth shoes. These shoes might be better than going barefoot right now, but good luck finding a matching set, let alone one that fits you.

When you do eventually try to escape, be careful. The halls are crawling with Taxxons. Large and grotesque, these caterpillar-like creatures have circular mouths and multiple rows of sharp teeth. Their sense of smell is impeccable, and they will stop at nothing to feed when they scent blood. So, you know, try to avoid stepping on anything sharp on your way out.

All done with the horrible monsters and awkward greetings? Try your hand at exploring the rest of the city! Find a house, find a new monster, or simply scavenge for supplies until your little heart is content. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

[ He looks back at the kitchen, which he had been looking at before she found him. ] Oh! So this is a kitchen!

[She likes your energy, Jimbee. In a place like this, where it's easy to lose hope, upbeat types will help group morale.]

Yeah, kind of a weird one, at least to me. The appliances are kind of foreign, but everything works. There's food in the shops, too. All of it's free.

[Not a bad lot, all things considered.]

Free food? I have never heard of such a things! So they have kitchens like this out of Japan? Do they have a lot of them?

[ It's in the future for him, coming from the Edo period. ]

I do, yes!

I think so? I think every house or apartment has a kitchen like this.

[It's probably in the future for her too, but she can't be sure.

Smiling, she nods at the stove, where there's a pot of water on its way to boiling. On the countertop, she's just finished chopping up some vegetables.]

No one's died from eating the food here yet.

So where in Japan are you from? ['When' might be the better question, but that can wait. It's not like they're going anywhere soon.]

Oooh amazing! People are amazing in any eras are they not!

[ He can't help but come over and watch. He can only do basic cooking, in old, normal stoves and by a camp fire, so it's interesting to see. ]

Would you like any help with anything, Z-dono?

Oh! I was at Fujiyama just before, but I was in Edo before that!

/gently eases self towards end of hiatus; no pressure to reply btw!

[She can't help but smile. She doesn't recognize the honorific, but she guesses it's polite. His energy is infectious, at any rate.

She starts dumping vegetables into the pot, glancing over her shoulder at him.]

I'm okay here, but you could look through the cupboards and drawers for bowls and utensils.

[ Polite and with way too much energy and loud, that's probably how people would describe him most times. ]

Oh! Certainly! [ Cupboards, cupboards... There's the first one! ]

[As he grabs some bowls, Z stirs the pot.]

I went to Japan once. My team and I made a friend. He helped us fight a monster. [Time travel is such a drag, though.]

You did! [ That's supposed to be a question but. ] I hope you found it well besides the monster!

Yeah, it was cool! I'd like to go again. [With fewer monsters. And not in the past.

She shakes some salt into the pot. Keepin' it simple.]

In that case you should, Japan is a great country!

[ And there are sure to be people protecting others from monsters, he is sure. ]
