INTRO LOG: A TAXING JOURNEY

Who: New arrivals and everyone else!
What: The intro log for December. Watch your step!
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: December 10th-17th
Warnings: Taxxon-related violence, teeth shoes, general unpleasantness, mass confusion.

You wake up in the dust of the colosseum with no shoes on, regardless of the state of your feet when you arrived. There's dust covering your clothing and in your hair, but other than that, there's no signs of injury or bruising. You're also not alone- nearby, there are others, either still passed out or just waking up like you are. Feel free to take solace in that fact. Or don't- some of you aren't human, and are clearly not great people either. No offense.

To your left, there is a door in the wall of the arena, supposedly leading to the halls which will then show you to your freedom. To your right, and scattered haphazardly on the ground, are a myriad of teeth shoes. These shoes might be better than going barefoot right now, but good luck finding a matching set, let alone one that fits you.

When you do eventually try to escape, be careful. The halls are crawling with Taxxons. Large and grotesque, these caterpillar-like creatures have circular mouths and multiple rows of sharp teeth. Their sense of smell is impeccable, and they will stop at nothing to feed when they scent blood. So, you know, try to avoid stepping on anything sharp on your way out.

All done with the horrible monsters and awkward greetings? Try your hand at exploring the rest of the city! Find a house, find a new monster, or simply scavenge for supplies until your little heart is content. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

It takes Seth a couple minutes to convince himself that they really aren't at the Twister anymore, that there really is no Mexican Dracula trying to rip their limbs off, and that he really is standing in the sand in his stocking feet.

And of course there's Richie, jogging around like an idiot testing out shoes from some kind of freaky foot fetish reject pile. Seth rolls his eyes and picks one up, then drops it immediately because yeah. Those are human teeth.

What the actual shit.

"What the hell's this supposed to be, Cinderella meets Marathon Man?"

"That would probably be a lot more pleasant than the reality."

But those shoes are pretty gross, and Adam really doesn't know why they would have appeared here. There's another crop of new people, and that's become sort of normal - or at least not a surprise - but the shoes? Yeah, that's new and weird.

"I wouldn't put them on. Who knows what they would do to you?"

Adam is wearing actual shoes, not being one of the new arrivals. He has no interest in trading them for teeth shoes.

"Yeah, unlike some people around here-" Richard. "-I'm not real excited by the idea of getting strange teeth near my extremities."

Seth does eye the other guys shoes, though. That doesn't seem quite fair, and he wonders idly what size the guy wears. "So what's the reality, then, kid?"

Adam's shoes are not particularly nice. They're cheap, something you'd get from a Wal-mart, and they've got a few months of wear on them. However, there appear to be absolutely no teeth anywhere on them, which is a plus.

"We're trapped here to be batteries for some sort of gods."

That's the short explanation, anyway.

"Gods that enjoy torturing us."
