Event Log: Fadeout

The morning of November the 15th seems rather normal- that is, if you can avoid the glowing cracks in the fabric of reality tucked away among various streets. Still, they don't really seem to be doing much of anything and you can't quite see through them, so maybe they're decoration? This wouldn't be the first time the gods pulled some weird shit to shake things up around here.

By midafternoon, however, something changes. Cecily, in all her wisdom, decides to attempt to dispel one of these rifts, and the resulting shockwave sends tremors through the city. Tears throughout Hadriel open wider and allow for various demons to burst through and terrorize the various citizens. Demons will be tearing through in all corners of the city, though you can choose to avoid them if you like.

Look out for Pride and Rage demons, who attempt to brute force their way to you and feed off of your anger, steel yourselves against Despair and Fear demons who grow stronger as you give up hope, and definitely cross the street to avoid the Desire demons, who can take either male or female forms and will offer you everything you want if you just let them in.

Demons will either focus on attacking you or tempting you by taking advantage of and feeding off of your basic emotions. Agreeing to let a demon help you and mentally folding to it generally means that the demon will begin to possess you and start calling the shots- often using you as a vessel to hurt others and sow discord. If you happen to have any sort of magical abilities, extended possession can lead toward becoming an abomination after the corruption takes root.

So... you might want to avoid all of that. Luckily, there are some good things happening that can distract you- along with the demons, several nugs and fennec foxes will also pop up around the city, and if you don't want them to die a horrible death to a hungry demon, you might consider adopting them. In addition, you may find a random potion laying around- maybe this can help you fight off those demons, or maybe it'll make every nug in the city love you- or maybe it's secretly a jar of bees. Wouldn't be the first time you guys let bees in jars get a little out of hand.

And I think you might'a bumbled your chances with this one already.

[he is literally going to try shoving Sans off the roof]

[Aw, c'mon. Foul play, buddy.

He can try, but as soon as Sans tips forward to plummet down, he's abruptly - not there anymore. He's behind Warrick instead, hands shoved away in his pockets.]

Buddy, I can't bee-lieve you.

[He frowns and leans forward some, like he expects there to be a rift immediately below him that swallowed the skeleton up. The voice behind him makes him start.]

Fates, why does everyone here do that! [Good thing he doesn't have a heart, folks.] I told you I was going to!

[skelebro]

I knew a shortcut.

[He ain't lying exactly.]

I guess bees really can't change their stripes, huh?

[purpleknee]

[It's still not a lot of fun having everyone teleport behind you.]

If you want my stripes changed, find people I can give hope to.

No luck on the heart front just yet, huh?

[Sounds like a bit of a self-defeating prophecy, honestly. Inspiring hope probably requires the capacity to feel more emotion than Warrick's indicated thus far.]

[He gives an unenthusiastic grunt, but waves SANS off with a hand.]

I think I might be halfway there. It's hard to judge when people are made hopeful.

[Frisk got Hope himself to laugh at a few, last he checked. It was kinda sweet.]

Hrmn. Yours were good when I first met you, but now you're just annoying me. Because you're not supposed to be telling me them until you apologize properly.

[tries to pull him off the roof this time]

[Geez, buddy. To retaliate, Sans pulls a little trick that might take Warrick by surprise.

He becomes dead weight. Surprisingly heavy, for a skeleton. That is, when he wants to be. Still wanna put all that work into hauling his coccyx off a roof?]

C'mon, at least wait for the streets to not be all demon-y before you try to push a guy off a roof.

[oh what the hell... Warrick huffs angrily and lets go, rubbing at his shoulder.]

To be fair, I wasn't pushing this time.

[skelebro]

[Sans lets himself drop into a sitting position with a bump, grinning irreverently.]

Your generosity knows no bounds.

[purpleknee]

I probably would have caught you before you hit the ground, if you actually fell this time.

[See! He's nice!!]

Besides, I've healed broken bones before, it's fine.

[skelebro]

If you're lookin' for someone to keep you in line, pal, I can say with confidence that it ain't fine.

[He might be cheery, but Warrick is playin' without a mess of context - like the fact that 1 HP means that Sans's bones don't break the way they ordinarily would. One wrong move and he's dust until Hope sees fit to draw him back to the world of the living.]

Mmn, I suppose.

[Fair point, it's true. Wait -- ]

I did not ever say that's what I'm looking for. I'm not! I can manage just fine.

I'm pretty sure you'd've been considerably less fine if you'd actually gone and followed through with your little bee plan.
